- Bands with big ideas work well at the Tiny Desk. Efterklang is a Danish group whose recent album Piramida took its members to an abandoned mining town between the North Pole and Norway. There, they recorded sounds of empty oil tanks, old pianos and pretty much anything they could strike or record.
It's precisely that creative energy that led to Efterklang ransacking our kitchen utensils and desks in search of sound-making material. The band is a joy to witness live with a small orchestra, but it's equally compelling just the way it is here, huddled around my desk and trying ideas it's never tried. A true adventure. --BOB BOILEN

hey man - don't listen to those other dudes telling you off. You are right! the rhythm is tricky and very easy to get the down/upbeat mixed up and it changes the perception of the song. We know exactly what you are talking about :-) Stay cool - Rasmus / Efterklang
Hvor er det fedt at et dansk band har spillet i dette fantastiske "tiny desk concert" projekt. Efterklang er super genialt, og det er den her kanal også! YES!!! :D
So incredibly amazing guys! You're music magicians!!!🙌🙌🙌🙌👌🎤🎤🎤
Saw them play in Seattle a couple of weeks ago. It was the best concert that I have ever been to. Incredible artists and amazing stage presence. I would pay tripple the money to see them again.
I just saw them again after 6 years and OMG, my mind just got blown away again. They are so so amazing and lovely and they make you feel so much! Wonderful humans and performers
that last song tripped me up rhythmically. The whole time what I thought was the downbeat was actually the upbeat. So I just got a very interesting interpretation of that song
I love you ! From the pure heart and soul! Your music is an inspiration to me, it brings me back to my core centre full of love and happiness. Thank you!
Any band that uses the sound of a pair of scissors closing is genius.
Efterklang is a Dream came True!❤️
guy is really giving those scissors a goin'
That's one hott Danish hipster
gracias NPR y gracias Efterklang por hacer y compartir esto. Saludos y lo mejor para ustedes!
After I finished uploading my RUclips video, "Tiny Concert Hall: Symphony Orchestra Model," a group of Efterklang videos showed up. I'm not sure how Efterlkang linked to my video, the latter which presents humorous plans for an 8 ft x 20 ft trailer-based concert hall! As a classical music composer, I find Efterklang to have a very interesting sound.
I didn't know Guillermo del Toro played the keyboard
3am and this is an awesome performance to get the gravy train running
Peter gabriel + brian eno + daniel lanois + sigur ros = this band
Actually I perfectly understood what he meant. Rhythm can do that to the ear sometimes. And you can play with that deliberately on an introduction to a song or piece when constructing music
ahhh man...I'm totally going for a solo scissor only album. I've got like three pairs...I'm set.
the best tiny desk concert...
I could listen to him talk all day. I love the music, but that damn accent...
getting some japan vibes - fantastic!
Coffee cup percussion, for the mother fucking win.
I love how happy he gets when they clap, like he is so cool
the other day i was thinking that a good drummer doesn't need anything else but some stuff he has found (:
Casper 💕😌
Chills...OMG!!! I am such a big fan of this band.
it's amazing! i love it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I loved this! Thanks for uploading! :)
Saw these guys play in London over a month ago, incredible.
Totally in love with this band after I saw them live in Warsaw 2 days ago 😍😍❤️🔥
this performance is absolutely amazing, thanks so much for it.
this is one of the most awesome thing my ears have ever heard
Great set! I really want to see the Ghost Of Piramida film about the making of the album, wish it was a little more accessible, I'd buy it I'm sure lots of others would too, it's just not available.
apparently you can buy it from them directly. Trying contacting them, I am sure it can be sorted out :)
Just remembered about this mini concert today, PIRAMIDA FOR EVER!
No, the drummer just messed up at the end.
he is so weirdly hot.
I love this band, is a wonderful music !
Cuanta genialidad
sounds like brian eno's songs
Epic chester mustache.
it was the best band potential. Now it is.
better live than studio
Great vid.
3:23 starts an excessive groove neck roll
Axiom 49. I use the same one.
nice drum set-up!
+ from what i've seen and heard, Casper has a wicked sense of humour...
You guys are slowing working your way through my music collection, so awesome
A touch of Scott Walker in there too. Nice work.
I keep coming back here. Please come to Nottingham.
WoW.....truly amazing.......👍👍✌🤘
Thank you for the video.
Why am I just now finding this!!!!
the last song is sooo beautiful
good stuff
det ska va things**** ditt argument är ogiltigt
Creativity at its peak!
you're awesome!
any idea about the name and model of the synth?
It's a midi keyboard (axiom 49) that probably controls a software synth or sampler. I remember reading that they sample into Kontakt and then use that live.
beautiful.
awesome!!!!!
LIKEEE GREAT
9:18 :)
The first song is great. Like one of the most epic 80's songs ever written (too short- they short-changed themselves on the potential of the song by cutting it short), but just showing up in the 21st century. If they let the idea of this song reach full maturity, no joke, it would be incredible. Guys, if you're reading this, lengthen the song and let your idea grow. Amazing.
