To anyone looking to do this, beware, It's a real handful. I did this to mine. 3000kv brushless/60A ESC/3s LIPO. After a lot of tightening up slop in the suspension, ear plugs in the diffs and better tires, it's usable. Not even full power yet, I'm running a 1800mAh/20C battery (~45A max draw) but it is still totally crazy. Wheelies or lights up all 4 tires at any speed. The added weight/better tires even makes it flip over if taking turns to fast. Currently looking for suspension upgrades. Even thinking about putting a gyro on there.
I recently made mine manageable with a 3100kv 3650 on a 70c 850mah 4s using a radiolink rc4gs controller and a cheap programmable 2-4s 120a esc. In the snow you can open it up 100% to climb banks at high speed. Otherwise it's just crazy fast at half throttle. I didn't cut the base for the esc it's mounted on 2 plexiglass plates that are bolted to the frame base and sits slightly over the side as much as the steering arm on the other side. It's got fairly soft springs longer travel shocks and thick oil, original wheels and tires, the longer shocks are bolted to a 1/10 crawler shock mount on top of the diffs 1 at front and 1 at the back, added front wing/skidplate/bumper(3 in 1) and modified the body a bit. I still need to try it with the gyro turned on, needs a bit more tweaking but It's manageable as is for now even without gyro.

hey man!! can you tell me if your stock chassis (the rc itself) is the A or the B version. This is very important. The A version comes with a smaller size motor and the B version comes with the 540 can brushed motor. You need to have the stock 540 motor already in place first in order to do this conversion as I did. Let me know. Check if your stock motor in the car is smaller than the one you are now trying to use.
hey bro! Yes, this system could be used in any 1/10 RC, it's a standard 540 size can. IDK if you know how electric motors are measured, this 540 is a 3650 size can. This means 36mm wide and 50mm long. Typical way to make sure what you buy fits, is you need to know the can size. Anyway, I would recommend a low KV rated motor for a crawler, not the 5200KV. Unless you want the crawler to be about 2-3 times faster than stock, lol.
hello, do you mean the stock wheels on this rc in the video. Those were just the stock factory wheels that it came with. They use a small wheel hex, not 12 mm, so you generally cant use them on anything hobby grade.
hey man!! 7200 is pretty high KV. I rarely see a 540 size mtoor with over 6000KV, pretty rare. The higher the KV the faster they are, good job!!! I approve, lol.
Hi can you please give feedback of this ocday brushless combo. How it worked? I am going to upgrade my brushed 1/10 car with this brushless system thanks
hey buddy, this system has worked well, there is nothing wrong with it and it can easily handle a 3S. I would really recommend you get a slightly lower KV motor so it's a bit easier on the drivetrain in you car. Here is the same system under a different brand, with a 4300KV motor and the same ESC as this. This is a good midrange choice to get for you. www.banggood.com/custlink/mD3mtJNJLB
whats up man! I like your username on here! I drive an 07 MERC Grand Marquis my dude!! Panther chassis 4 LIFE!! Good deal, this brushless combo is great, works well in any 1/10 rc too.
hey man!! You're right that larger RCs do use really low KV motors, this is a fact. The torque is not what gives them speed, it's the higher gearing and more lipo cells. The fact is, a low KV motor VS a High KV motor given the same gearings and lipo cells, the result would be that the Higher KV motor will spin faster. Does this logic make sense to you?

I highly suggest you get this system here, check the link. It's your best alternative and a direct drop-in. It's standard size and your rustler will be at least twice as fast. www.banggood.com/custlink/DmK3kIuR70

hey buddy! Unfortunately, the answer is NO. IN the WL TOYS RCs the receiver and ESC is a single unit. Therefore if you replace the ESC you will also need a new radio system and servo. Problem is, these WL Toys RCs are not true hobby grade, because they do not use separate hobby grade parts like standalone radio systems and ESCs.
thanks man, Check out my reviews on the WLTOYS 144001 with the 2S and 3S lipos. I think that will be the best one to get now, it blows away the model in tis video, and you don't even need any upgrades.

The A-959-B comes with a 3650 motor which is a 540 size, it's all the same thing! anyway, the only issue you will have is you will need a different radio and servo for any WL toys, because they use a 2-in1 combination RX and ESC unit. hello, this system will also work on your 1/10 WL toys model. Any 1/10 brushless system with a 3650 size motor will work. But you will also need a new radio and receiver system btw.
Can't we use the original servo? Is there any difference between the original servo and the one used for upgrade? If it is different please tell me its type. I will be very glad if u do
You can but its a 5wire, not a 3wire. You would have to convert it to a 3wire to work with an aftermarket/hobbygrade receiver and that involves using the PCB from a doner servo and micro soldering skills, better off just getting another servo, they are cheap.
hey buddy! I don't see why not, as long as you switch the entire radio system other than the motor it should be fine, it's nearly the same motor anyway and the same brushed wiring setup.
Why does everyone keep going for a 540 sized 3650 brushless motor???? Its WAY to large in physical size and throws your handling out the window! What you want is a 2845 or 2848 brushless motor in the 3600kv to 4200kv range. I used a 5900kv in a speed run but a 3600 to 3800kv 2845 will not only make your 1/18 XK car quick and fast but also powerful , agile, and it wont overheat! Its smaller.... like the size of a 380 brushed but has PLENTY of power, more power than the 2030 size motors OTHERS ARE USING! Dont get a motor TO SMALL or TO BIG, you just dont need either. A 2030 size will cog and overheat and a 3650 will tip your car over with your big ole' esc not helping either! Reminds me of the Flintstones cartoon when the server puts the dinosaur steak on the side of Fred's car and it flips over on its side from the weight! 🤣 Im so confused why this isn't obvious? Get the carbon fiber chassis, aluminum suspension (shim your suspension fellas, please!?) Some descent quality turnbuckles and 12mm hexes. A 35a surpass esc and 3600kv 2845 can be had for under or around $35 and are remarkable in this is car, EVEN ON 3S!
hey buddy!!. Gonna make an update soon, been working on other projects. I also got a new WL Toys same as this but the buggy version. so will be a great video for a speed test comparison soon.
Hey did you have any trouble out of that combo system, because I was looking at that one. I have a wltoys 12402a its a 1/12 scale. And was thinking about brushless system. Do you think that is too much 60amp ESC?
Bro I got problem might you can help me...I'm still running on stock motor 540kv..stock esc and servo..and stock Lipo. my motor heat up when playing on and off road. I'm buying a heat sink for the motor but my fan needs a plug for the esc. Should a get 35a esc brushed?? I want to keep the motor for now coz I'm still practicing..any advice bro?
hey buddy!!, So if you want to install a different ESC with a plug for a fan you would also need a new radio system for this model. This is because this uses a combination 2-in-1 ESC and receiver. To be honest with you, the motor heating up is normal. It should be warm, not extremely hot, where you can't even tough it. Worst that could happen is you will have premature motor wear, but this is still cheaper than a full upgrade on these.
@@hybrid32494 yeah you can't eVen touch it when you played straight till battery runs out. Do you mean u have to change my remote control when I change esc?? Just guessing...coz it will not be compatible to the stock radio control? But it still working..I guess ill find a original esc so I can still use my radio control. And for the mean time ill put sink only w/o a fan..bro if ever I change my esc to brushless do my motor must be a brushless too? Plus the servo on the are smaller than the Fy03 size 1/12 size... Thee you gatta try to fine matching servo arms...ect It can be fuastrating if...it's your only R/C cars..waiting for parts. when the parts arrive...they dont fit...ect You can just wire the fan to a separate battery..if you dont wanna spend money...just use whatever recharge able lipo or li-on single cell. I have lots of R/C...1/8 size...but still play with the 1/18 wltoy becuase it's quick and simply do just drive it around up and down the street in front of my house. It's still stock. It was burning out my 390 motor becuase the esc is set on high..idk I can't run 1500 40c on it..... i install a different 390 less the PCB in the back...less the plastic fan in the motor...it's quicker...but not lighting fast. .but still plenty fun to drive. Most of my toys are brushless conversions . the bigger ones need more room...but I save money from buying used 1/8 nitro...missing TX or old nitro motors. i have plenty of 1/10 brusless motors...ecs already...so it easy for me at the moment...but I have $5K into the hobby already just this year....Not everyone can afford to do that.. Plus it's almost like a chore...i have to charge alots of batteries...go to the park or wait until night time ..until the street are clear.. So i can do 60 mph...lol..but if I crash...it's expensive or can hurt people. I actaully drive the 1/18 more...lmao You might also try cleaning the motor or lubing it. Not sure what sure what body you have...but I just mounted a roll/cage from those 1/18 $15...it looks cool...but more important..cockpit is open ..it's getting more air flow to keep the temp down... Or you can invest into a aluminum chassis..it'll act like a big Heat sink.

hello, this system will also work on your 1/10 WL toys model. Any 1/10 brushless system with a 3650 size motor will work. But you will also need a new radio and receiver system btw.
Could you link every thing I need for a brushless conversion for my wltoys 12428
Can i use the stock servo and the stock controller on a 144001 ?
hey buddy! I don't see why not, as long as you switch the entire radio system other than the motor it should be fine, it's nearly the same motor anyway and the same brushed wiring setup.
I have an older two wheel drive stampede that i want to upgrade can you give me the info you are running on your pede?.
Im so confused why this isn't obvious?
Get the carbon fiber chassis, aluminum suspension (shim your suspension fellas, please!?) Some descent quality turnbuckles and 12mm hexes. A 35a surpass esc and 3600kv 2845 can be had for under or around $35 and are remarkable in this is car, EVEN ON 3S!
Hows it so far ? Good job nice
hey buddy!!. Gonna make an update soon, been working on other projects. I also got a new WL Toys same as this but the buggy version. so will be a great video for a speed test comparison soon.
hey buddy!! heres the update video on this.

Hey did you have any trouble out of that combo system, because I was looking at that one. I have a wltoys 12402a its a 1/12 scale. And was thinking about brushless system. Do you think that is too much 60amp ESC?
60a is for 1/10
But it might work
What type of brushless motor should I get for my typhon mega?
I'm running glance power 3650 5000 2s and great brushless setup
dont expose a scheme that saves you money. silence trade codes amongst the save money community. don't people honor codes anymore? sheeessshhhh!
huh!!!! this isn't a scheme, this is an RC car, LOL. JK.
works with a959-b as well?
hey buddy! this system will work with any RC that is a 540 style (can size) motor. The answer is yes.
Thanks a lot Hybrid!
And also which is 4500kv brushless motor, 35a esc, 3.5kg servo is good combination? Just found a bundle from goolrc..thanks for replying:)
@@rcnoypi8758 No you cant use the old TX...and the servo...if you dont have a separate TX or radio
you'll have to get one..you can get a cheap one for under $30..but adds up after a while ..if you're invested into the hobby. Plus the servo on
the are smaller than the Fy03 size 1/12 size...
Thee you gatta try to fine matching servo arms...ect
It can be fuastrating if...it's your only R/C cars..waiting for parts.
when the parts arrive...they dont fit...ect
You can just wire the fan to a separate battery..if you dont wanna spend money...just use whatever recharge able lipo or li-on single cell.
I have lots of R/C...1/8 size...but still play with the 1/18 wltoy becuase it's
quick and simply do just drive it around up and down the street in front
of my house. It's still stock.
It was burning out my 390 motor becuase the esc is set on high..idk
I can't run 1500 40c on it.....
i install a different 390 less the PCB in the back...less the plastic fan
in the motor...it's quicker...but not lighting fast. .but still plenty fun to drive.
Most of my toys are brushless conversions . the bigger ones need more
room...but I save money from buying used 1/8 nitro...missing TX or old nitro motors. i have plenty of 1/10 brusless motors...ecs already...so it easy for me at the moment...but I have $5K into the hobby already just this year....Not everyone can afford to do that.. Plus it's almost like a chore...i have to charge alots of
batteries...go to the park or wait until night time ..until the street are clear..
So i can do 60 mph...lol..but if I crash...it's expensive or can hurt people.
I actaully drive the 1/18 more...lmao
You might also try cleaning the motor or lubing it.
Not sure what sure what body you have...but I just mounted a roll/cage
from those 1/18 $15...it looks cool...but more important..cockpit
is open ..it's getting more air flow to keep the temp down...
Or you can invest into a aluminum chassis..it'll act like a big Heat sink.
@@oneeyemonster3262 wow....loads of info bro...thanks a lot! Now I have idea to save money..ill check that:)
@@oneeyemonster3262 just a quick question...when changing motor to brushless...do my esc must be a brushless too?
does it hard drag brake
does it have drag brake
hey buddy, All these brushless ESCs are tunable with a proper programming card. The card was not included here, but you can always get one. Anyway, the stock profile is quite good, it's got a little drag brake, not a crazy amount.
That ends up at 60€ with taxes in finland... :/ Rather go to the hobby shop and get something better....
a a mäki oon suomesta
No goodd
No vale ese combo mejor no comprar esas marcas, lo comento por experiencias
"Cheapest" ?
hey buddy!!. YES, i think this is def the cheapest complete 540 size brushless system you can buy anywhere right now. ESC and motor included, have you seen cheaper anywhere?
@@hybrid32494 yes. This combo on aliexpress / banggood
