I have a small business, and used PayPal since 2003. In October 2020, I received an email from them saying I could no longer use them, and that they would hold onto my PayPal balance (around $450) for 6 months in case there were any chargebacks against me. I called them, and asked them why this happened. The guy said that it was a separate department at PayPal who does this, and that I could not contact that department because "they have no phone and no email". Yeah, right. He did say that it is usually because of violating the terms. So I read the terms, line-by-line. The only thing that I could see was "engaging in a business that generates complaints". EVERY business gets complaints! I've had a few complaints during those 17 years, but 90%+ of those complaints were ruled in my favor. Anyway, after 6 months, I was hoping to get my PayPal balance returned to me. But PayPal kept it. Their reason was "damage to Paypal".
They did the same to me, but with $2k. Damn near put me out of business! PayPal should be shut down and its owners and people who make these decisions should be jailed. No exceptions.

Happened to my partner when she was owed money from her friend, owed 700, got it in 400 and 300 but they didn't allow the 300 through, but wasn't transferred back. Luckily we're in the UK so I managed to talk to them and ask what had happened (her friend showed proof of the transactions in person) and they tried to tell us it went back, proceeded to put them on the phone and tell them it hasn't, argued that I'm taking them to court if its not sorted within a week + compensation ended up with 600 instead of 300.

I had a customer that didn't want to pay with card or cash but instead paypal and I said sure that's fine, we'll send it to my personal account and ill cash it out later. The cost was 1800 for a transmission repair and next thing I knew, paypal took hundreds of dollars from that transaction saying "Thank you for choosing paypal, it looks like this is a large payment for a business transaction. We charge a (I forget the fee % but It was way too much) for business transactions." I told the customer they had to at least help cover the cost of the fee and they said sorry that's not our problem. Unfortunately that was true because I would've needed to warn them beforehand of a fee. I immediatly deleted my paypal after getting the money and never looked back.
Wouldn't paypal have to warn you before charging that fee too? Like, if you were signing onto the business-side of paypal or something? That HAS to be disclosed beforehand otherwise it should be uninforcable and you could fight this in court… but then again, who has the time and money to fight for a few hundred dollars… and that's what they're counting on…

Pretty vile shit.
