Walmarts are everywhere so this was a VERY convenient thing to have.. but something has changed. people are getting kicked out left and right, and there’s only a very small select Walmarts who will allow it.. what changed? anyways… enjoy todays episode xoxo -becca

I know the Walmarts in my area put a stop to truck/RV camping in their parking lots because of the amount of garbage & other things left behind. Suffice to say some disrespectful people ruined it for everybody
True!
Yep... 👍🏼
It’s probably mostly from the homeless people sleeping in the bushes.
Read comment, don’t believe them. They’re into controlling people in league w govt., their change in policies. They do not want freedom and freedom of movements, this is just the beginning. That’s why Jesus said Flee Babylon America, head to the mountains. Living in end times, it’s only going to get worse.
Selective Walmarts, probably Martha’s Vineyard type of areas. But since they close at midnight if one was parked you might stand out. Otherwise, if you park a van, quietly, who would know? Of course, can’t put up camper tops. Too obvious. Viewed a vid of a nurse, lives in their van in the hospital parking lot.
I live in Savannah Ga. and there is a Wal-Mart here that had about 15 cars of homeless people who set up a mini encampment that didn't leave for months. They also began panhandling aggressively in groups which made a lot of people feel threatened so a lot of people stopped going altogether. It's hard for a minimum wage Walmart employee to discern between a van/car life camper and a homeless squatter that will harass your customers.
There's an obvious difference, it's called trash or litter, people that boondock over night are clean pleasant and appreciative, homeless people don't give a f**k,
Same thing where I live. Homeless druggy ,panhandlers., in the parking lot and woods next door. They overran the McDonald's till it was scary to eat there. What even made it worse was there is a major bus terminal in the Walmart parking lot. Finally the crackdown came.
Are you trying parking at home depot
They also will let your dog walk in the stores.
Lowes is 👌
When I worked @ WM they posted signs NO Trucks ( hubs is a trucker) manager told us that people were using the bathroom openly in parking lot and leaving trash everywhere. Just gross and unsanitary. I wish I was surprised but I'm actually not😢
Humm your actually the first person I have seen ask for permission to camp. Learned something new. Thanks
Exactly. Don/t put yourself not he radar. get a regular car and be stealth and youre gucci.
Yeah. I just pop my window covers up right away and I'm usually exhausted from working so I'm asleep and quiet. When I walk the dog at night sometimes there are bound to be people noticing us, but I haven't been told to leave any of the Walmarts yet. I was at one for two weeks straight. I think if you just don't leave trash and clean up after your dog you're fine.
It's not about overnight camping at Walmart, it's about the mass of homeless people living in their cars that stay at Walmart parking lots long term. Sad, but true.
Yup times have changed. Maybe one day it'll get back to the old way. But i do understand why Walmart is taking precautions.
Homeless...sad but true!
It was a Store by Store basis I was told by a district manager I was told it was caused by people coming to camp but not leaving or coming to camp And throwing their litter not into one of the 100 trash cans they have they throw it all over the parking lots. And yes the Store Managers know that not all campers are the same but unfortunately the bad have ruined it for the others.
@@andrewsimckes5748 I agree but surely there is a one night policy ..one night or moved on or towed
Where will you be for the eclipse?
It only takes a few to mess up something great. When I was traveling, I had to park at a rest area because the truck stops are cracking down too. Sucks when you're traveling, and you just need a quick nap but the side of the road doesn't feel as safe. One of my favorites .. "leave the area cleaner than when you found it, and respect the property/land". #ThanksForSharing #HappyCamping #SafeTravels 🛻🏕🐶
Truck stops are cracking down because as it is there is not enough parking for trucks as it and are limited where we can park semi trucks
@@garymichalski5197 - trust me, I’m very well aware. I use to drive them not too long ago. It’s like that most places nowadays. Where I live you can’t park beside the road without getting “the knock”.
Many cargo van expeditors overnight at Planet Fitness locations that are open 24h. If you buy the black card membership they are good everywhere plus you get free showers.
They are cracking down too. I got towed at one last year
@@NavodtheNomad Yeah I haven't felt comfortable at Planet Fitness lots. I had two cops give me the stink eye when I was working on my laptop in the cab of my van.
I've been using truck stop front lots that don't have "no overnight parking signs." Most have time limit signs, but I haven't been run off yet. Some new Love's have RV hookup sites.
@@michaelkeogh8454 oh yea I came across some of the Love’s with hookups in Utah, pretty neat
I’ve heard a lot of people park at Cracker Barrel’s.
@@explorer8125 yea I do that a lot
All of the Walmart stores in our area stopped allowing overnight camping because they would leave tons of trash in the lot, and we have had people overdosing in their vehicles.
*Trashy people always ruin everything!*
Sooo.... There are always truck stops Becca. That is what they are for and they are much better than Walmart anyway. You can get hot food a shower and some of them have places to wash your clothes. And hot coffee in the morning. Always a better option than Walmart. Always.
Most truck stops in the West charge now or don't allow overnight parking.
QT
I use work at Walmart in Attleboro Massachusetts stocking 3rd shift and a lot homeless people caused fights drinking an trash everyday so they are ones who stopped many Walmarts from over night resting..even had couple who tried Rob trucks..
*Trashy people always ruin everything!*
I had the same experience while working at Walmart. Some people stayed overnight at our Walmart, then used the excuse that their vehicle wouldn't start. They conned our local Salvation Army and food pantry. We finally used the local and State police to get them out of town.
Truck stops, that's my main go-to. Of course
I'm a guy, and I was a truck driver for 45 years. Also if you're river fishing try a Castmaster and a super duper. Both work for steelhead, trout, bass. Cropie.
Easier to ask for forgiveness then permission in some situations. If you do it stealth wise, and don't make a big scene, you could literally "camp" anywhere. I've seen folks on here do it in airport parking lots, suburban neighborhoods, downtown in busy cities, in hotel parking lots, at hospitals and even casinos.
Again, just don't be obvious with what you're doing and you'll likely be fine. Nobody really cares unless you are a hassle or a headache.
I totally agree. If you are stealthy and considerate you can park almost anywhere.I slip in late and leave early and I've never had a problem.
In the past, I relayed on Walmart for parking overnight. One of my stepdaughters ended up in a hospital about two hundred miles from home. My wife and I slept in our car in a Walmart parking lot to save money and to be at my stepdaughter hospital bedside.
I live in SC and there use to be lots of campers the first yr of COVID. I haven't noticed any there in quite awhile.
Careful with the fumes and shutting your dog in such a small space. Fumes are heavy and settle to the ground where he is laying.
my local Wal mart stopped letting people stay overnight because of the garbage that was left and how many people were staying for weeks at a time and using Wal marts' facilities. I don't blame them.
This happened here too. Bad actors ruining life for everyone else.
They still let semi's.
@@WillChil466not very many still allow trucks. It's the manager's discretion.
Cabelas is awesome! Glad to see Skye and you out having fun!👍
Definitely a YMMV situation. I still see campers (not only homeless living out of their car) parked overnight at my local Walmart stores, I guarantee they aren't asking for permission though just taking the risk of getting that knock in the middle of the night. Keep in mind a lot of Walmart locations have security patrolling all day and night now too, and nearly if not all of these have signs everywhere saying no overnight parking. Leave no trace, don't disturb anyone and you should be fine regardless.
Just leisurely traveled from FL to NY. Every Walmart he'd no parking signs posted but I asked inside store and was always granted one night of parking - face to face seems to work better!
Excellent video! I just subscribed! I'm a 74yr old female full-time RVer workamping at Adventureland in Altoona, Iowa in summer and camping on BLM land in Quartszite, AZ in winter! Safe travels everyone! Marie ❤️
19:27 is the cutest thing I've ever seen! Sooooo flipping adorable! So cute when they fix their spot to make it comfortable to lay on!! Love it! 🙂🙂🙂🙂❤️
she does it every night 🥹🥹❤️❤️
Sorry bout the walmart mess. I constantly use auto parts store parking. There is always vehicles there staying over night. Always ask ahead when you come into different states. Some of your viewers who own property would most definitely host you over night. I will step up as a property owner in GA. 15 minutes off I-20 in lake country, 40 mins. Southeast of Atlanta. Fishing everywhere! Safe travels , scratch sky behind the ear and say hello to Lyla.
I will email you my info in case you ever need it.
Currently at a walmart in Mcdonough with the back of the lot where I parked last week blocked off from cars and rigs smh
Becca, I noticed something that has nothing to do with your channel, but I think is worth mentioning... one of my other favorite YT channels is "Acre Homestead" with BecKY. You and she could be sisters, truly. Happy, Safe Camping to you and Skye!🏕🎣
Some city ordinances don't allow for overnight camping at Walmart. Since Covid most Walmart stores are not open all night 11pm close

My understanding is that in a lot of cases it's not really even up to Wal*Mart as they lease the land the stores are on and the parking lots, so they have to just abide by local laws/ordinances. I bet if you called and asked all along they probably would have said no you can't but maybe they didn't start cracking down until recently, who knows. Sorry for you but glad you have safe alternatives. Stay safe and stay awesome Becca!
How exciting to be young and single traveling across the country! I'm glad you have your little companion to keep you company and protect you! Please be safe.
Who ever your calling is wrong I went to the Walmart site and this is what it says While we do not offer electrical service or accommodations typically necessary for RV customers, Walmart values RV travelers and considers them among our best customers. Consequently, we do permit RV parking on our store parking lots as we are able. Permission to park is extended by individual store managers, based on availability of parking space and local laws. Please contact management in each store to ensure accommodations before parking your RV.
So I don't understand how walmart has a site that clearly reads this
And I called my local Walmart in two locations that allow over night parking
Reading comprehension is wonderful. It says it's up to the management and local laws.
Don't call them you'll only get the corporate spiel. Talk to the managers in person. Don't ask for camping ask for overnight parking.
They stopped doing it where I’m at a few months ago. No hate towards campers like you but I’m really glad they did this. Sadly it’s a few bad apples that ruin it for the rest of them. They were attracting the wrong crowd. I think it all started when they quit staying open all night. It’d be nice to have the convenience of popping in to the store during the night but it’s just not a thing anymore at least where I’m at. Good luck and stay safe out there.
Walmart is not in the trailer camp people business. Go stay and pay for your way of living. Everyone else is .
Entitlement
bass pro the real mvp i still cannot get over how sick that truck camper setup is i love it also i recommend carrying a really good socket set ya never know i carry one and it comes in handy
Love the camping videos. I like that you are growing so much in your building success and upgrades. Love forward to seeing you going back to your roots and start fishing again❤❤
I just discovered your channel. We were told several years ago by a security guard ar a not opened Walmart , that a Grandaughter of the Waltons had taken over the business. She changed the overnight parking rules due to people trashing the parking lot. But we were also told if you park there & go inside shopping they can't tell you to leave because you are a customer. Especially if it's a 24 hour store. This was in Arizona. Thank you for your video. Safe travels
Sorry you are bummed out, glad to see you still enjoying the little things 😊. Skye is awesome as always. Keep doing what you are doing, you are amazing. Love to Lila❤.
Just remember when looking for a place to park, to get a few hours sleep, it's easier to ask for forgiveness than it is to ask for permission. It's too easy for them to just say no, over the phone.
Cops don't forget Homie😂
Let’s go 😊yet another wonderful video with the BEST ,say hello to Lila and Skye ❤ much love
Awwww, your dog is a JUMBO version of my dog "Smore". ❤
Our local Cabela's had a dump station and allowed overnights in the past. Just after the acquisition by Bass Pro Shops they took out the dump station, and I don't think they allow overnights anymore. If no a Harvest Host, our usual overnight boondocks on the road are Cracker Barrel or a casino.
A little tip for campers.. you can refill your own small propane canisters. There's a hose and fitting that you can get from any outdoor store. 50 bucks will save you a lot of money in the long run
Any suggestions on a good canister brand?
@@MegaDubrock Coleman is fine. Hook up the hose. Turn your propane tank upside down. Use a thin pliers to pull the shrader valve out, to let the air out. When it starts splashing liquid out you're done. Its stinky and don't smoke around it. I can make my first RUclips video of it if anyone wants a demonstration
@@MegaDubrock😂nice of u to instruct.
Hey Becca, I have stayed at Lowe’s and was told they allow overnight stays. I have a 37’ motorhome towing a Dodge Dakota so I am quite visible!! Good Luck…
Great video tonight Becca , we all learned about overnight parking where and where not to park .. 😉 you girls be careful out there .. ❤️
First of all, early @fishingwithbecca Sunday upload! Let's goooo!
Secondly, I like that you called ahead to find out if parking overnight at a Walmart was ok. That was smart and considerate of you. Unfortunately, some bad apples ruined a good thing and because of this, most Walmart's no longer welcome travelers to park overnight (some people leaving trash, dumping their grey water in the parking lot and overstaying their welcome). What's worse is that some people feel entitled to park at Walmart's and other business establishments and get upset when they are asked to leave. People have to keep in mind that these are private properties and not assume that it is ok to park there.
Safe travels Becca and Skye!
Becca, as you adventure on longer distances in your new rig you may want to consider getting a good CB and a Power MIC for it. The long-distance truckers know where the best places are for Overnights especially in/close to the cities they deliver to. Having a CB IS GREAT FOR REROUTING AROUND TRAFFIC JAMS. We have a Class A and our CB has saved us many hours of traffic jams and where to park a larger RV for the night.
CB range is laughable. Pretty much line of sight. For emergencies you are better with a HAM radio which has 100 times the range and users.
@@addictedtopussy69 Agree about HAM RADIOS for Emergencies and multi state or international communications but I was talking simple traffic jams and local spots to overnight. My CB setup does carry a good 3-9 mile distance consistently. 1 mile coverage is more a Walkie Talkie toy lol!
Thanks for the upload Becca now I have some entertainment here at work on a sunday this will make my day alot better🫡🫡
I love hospital parking lots ! Keep up the good videos ! Also ,hi skye !
That way if you stub your big toe you can limp across the parking lot and took care of faster.
Love Skye! Cracks me up with her lay down dance. 😂
I'm a van lifer but i did consider a set up like yours. I really like the camper and the 4x4 capability of your rig. You got a new subscriber. Safe travels young lady.
Luv your name.
Walmart had a problem with a rv that people living in it for almost a year. Walmart eventually had to pay to have the rv towed because it didn't even run anymore. It was a whole thing courts were involved if I can remember correctly it was Maryland or Delaware
Wow
I’ve worked at Kroger for 6 years and before covid we were open to the public til like 1am and there would be homeless come in and cause trouble or sleep in the Starbucks area. But then when we started closing to the public earlier and we have t had that many problems. But we still get hightop conversion vans parking in the lots for a couple days every now and then. A couple regulars that I think just move from one area to another back and forth. That are just living in their vans.
I honestly can't be mad at Walmart. Some campers do unfortunately abuse the privilege and leave all types of garbage behind. People can be disgusting, so I can’t imagine some of the crap campers have left behind for others to clean up behind them.
I couldn’t agree more. from their point of view, I understand
I agree
Aye, i have that same cup! Cool video Becca! super chill vibes!
Northeast Walmart’s and off-season car/truck camping in general is tough in New England.
There's a Walmart less than 5 minutes from my home that doesn't allow overnighters. There's another about 15 minutes from home that doesn't seem to care. The first store closes at 11. The second is 24 hours. Maybe that makes a difference. I seem to remember hearing Walmart was putting a stop to overnighters a few years ago.
Its been like that at all our Wal Marks in Madison, WI for years. I still see them parking in Wal Marks outside of town but usually they have other stores in the parking lot too.
Walmart
@@roseburke3962 ok...Waldamart. LOL. I refuse to shop there because they end up taking all the business away from the mom and pop stores.
You could use shoe polish on the cream colored canvas storage "box" to change it to your liking. I used black on a leather brown ottoman and it worked GREAT and is still in use over 5 years later with no "rub off."
Fumes in small camping space might smell?
@GloryBeeFreedom actually no. The shoe polish dries relatively quickly, and there are no fumes. It soaked right in, and the only mess was me accidentally touching a spot that I just put on because I pressed a little too hard, and it tried to run. I laid cardboard down so to make sure I didn't ruin my flooring with the polish, but there are no fumes with KIWI brand leather dye. And it's rinsable with water if you spill any. And I did this project in the winter in a small bedroom about 10×10 with the door shut to keep my animals from walking on it and getting their fur on it.
I have a Walmart near me and they stopped campers and truckers park overnight .
It’s sad because when people travel they need a rest stop of their going through town .
On the other hand I get it . People take advantage.
Take care 🌻
Or Cracker Barrel restaurants will usually let you park in their parking lot overnight
yup! I mentioned them a few times as a good options.
They're only in big towns.
@@WillChil466 yeah and?
That's awesome! 💖
Also, it's also one of the few nation-wide chain restaurants with some vegan options! 🍴
just called the 3 walmarts in my SoCal area and they all said yes, you can overnight park to rest, one of them was a Walmart neighborhood market
It seems to depend on the state and the municipality. Some cities don’t allow overnight parking at store parking lots. Only place I’ve ever had trouble with this was in Florida and California. Home Depot is a great alternative.
When I was on the road full time Truck Stops were my go to for overnight camping.
Your camper looks so cozy and relaxing. Perfect for you and your beautiful fur baby. I think people throwing trash all over the parking lot is why parking has stopped. I don't see anything wrong with it,as long as you respect the property. Some people ruin it for the good ones! Have a wonderful fun adventure ❤
So loving this we so enjoyed this. We living in NH and living in our RV Grace Rochester NH Walmart will let as long as you park out of the way we had to do it. I use to work there so I knew the manger Brian and he allows as long as you dont stay a week
It started with that moms that her kids in her car unattended. Some old guy that was cooking accidentally started fire. 1 kid dead because she couldn't get out because of size.
Yes at one time Walmart loved people camping in their lot's
You have a truck camper! That’s like a van or car. You can literally park anywhere and put blackout shades on and sleep. I’ve pulled off the sides of roads and just slept undisturbed in both my car and small trailer all over the country.
Maybe get yourself a slow cooker Becca, while travelling you can cook a stew in it. It’s awesome. We do it in our truck, this is the first time I have seen your channel, I love your camper, love your content and of course your puppy.
I haven't had a problem with Walmart but I don't call to ask either. The way I do it, ioverlander and also if there's 18 wheelers there then it's safe for me too. So just follow the trucks.
wow and that cup pours so well. hate when some of them pour down the sides
My walmart allows overnight parking. There are trucks and various other vehicles parked on a nightly basis.
someone probably got hurt or something and sued em so now it ruins it for everyone
That's exactly what happened.
Hope you find somewhere to Camp at that is safe. You take really good care of your beautiful dog. Both of you be safe, and happy camping.
Pretty sure that I know where you camped at Cabella's! If you are in MA that is a great newer shopping plaza with some great shopping and dining options.
I was traveling and had to stop, pulled into a Walmart, bought water and snacks. I really needed a nap, and in about 45 minutes of me trying to catch some zzzzz's, an employee was taking pictures of my car, license plate, and staring at me. I was scared and just got back on the highway. Was very disconcerting.
Full time RV life as well... Love it ..... I'm in Rhode Island.. Love your video's..
I recommend Peak and mountain house freeze dried meals!

The GSI cup you got is one of my favs in my kit. Tip for you with that, find a wide rubber band or silicone bracelet that fits around the top edge to stop you burning your lips… ask me how I know.
oh my goodness I literally did that the other night!!! I was so bummed out lol thank you. you’re the best
Try finding a truck stop they usually allow overnight parking
And BTW 3/8 is most common in tool sets. 1/2 drive is for bigger stuff and less common in kits. So you made out good.
Your personality is really coming out keep grinding 💪
Not sure on this, I have been working at Walmart for 15 years and we allow it, all we expect is to park in the furthest out the end of the lot......get lot of campers and RV's as well as truck drivers at my Walmart.
I've had good luck going into the store and asking.
Here in new york,I give them a 72 hr stay, you just gotta leave spot clean..
The Cabela's by my sisters doesn't even require a pass. Huge parking area for travellers and commercial trucks.
I think the next to last Walmart employee you talked to was so courteous and polite!! She should be employee of the month! Also...I HATE summer and would pick winter any day.
I parked at a roadside rest on Interstate 5 on night on the way to San Diego from San Francisco. I had a camper on my truck. It was allowed by California to do this at the time.
Good Day Becca ....... at timestamp 2:00 the reason Walmart is cracking down on over night camping is because there has been to many people that would move in for weeks to months and not move out ....... B.C. Canada has had the same issue
I run a diesel heater in -35 and let it run for 30-50 hours at a time so it should eb ok but still have a CO detector. I am starting my truck camping experiance as well so hope to see some pointers.
I work for a local walmart, so far mgtment is allowing it as people park down toward Murphy gas station and as long as they don't bother our customers and so forth and are also away from employee parking. But I can totally understand why the other stores are not I'm sorry you got told no.
everything free comes to an end be. greatful for the past and adjust to the present camping is done at campsites for a fee!!!
No car camping at Cabellas in Lehi, Utah. The store told me Lehi police department came and posted no overnight parking signs.
Have fun be safe.
Our local Walmart has contracted with a towing service. The towing service starts towing an hour after Walmart closes.
Northern Nevada Walmarts are still a go, for camping. Bass Pro is a whole lot more fun, though. 💯💯
I have a 1998 Dodge Ram 2500 with a Northstar Pop up Camper on it. Just keep up on the maintenance of your truck and you should be good. That’s a light camper so that F150 should be good. Good Times.
The reason for the company stopping the overnight camping is because people would stay longer than just overnight. They would setup their stuff as if they were in a paid campsite. They would have chairs, beer, leave trash and just being a nuisance including yelling at customers, telling them that they were parking too close to their campsite. If you give some people an inch they’ll take a mile. Overstepping the grace Walmart gave is the reason corporate stopped it. Take care and be well all.
Yes, when I'm about to overnight, I'll allways buy something and have the receipt handy. Then the bag is used to police trash close by... The cameras will record you putting it in the trash bin. I've never has an issue... So far...
The things that messed it up for overnight parking was people being nasty. I have seen truck drivers and campers dumping their trash right onto the ground where they parked. Even though there were trashcans within walking distance, the preferred to wear out their welcome in the parking lot. Now, it effects everyone. Now those that messed it up for everyone else has to take their nasty self somewhere else as well until they mess it up for everyone to the point to where no one is welcome there either.
Umm try metric sockets (in millimeters) if the imperial system (in inches.)
I’d like to ask if you have any experience with rivet screws which need a rivet gun to install the female treaded side to screw in eyehooks and hooks….for that storage we crave. I’ve been trying cargo nets for overhead (when it fits without strange shaped cargo,) and mini hammock type baskets like sailors might use,) but I have bought a few different black nylon expandable bins/ boxes but haven’t used them yet. Come up to Canada anytime though I don’t fish, there a lane near by with trout and Dolly Varden or down the highway there’s always salmon!
You alt to look into Heater Meals - truckstops sold them back 30 years ago and you can still find them, you don’t have to cook them- they cook them selfs, in the box, just open it up turn it upside down on the tray and add the packet of water to the tray, then slide it back into the box, and in about 5 minutes- it’s ready, they are delicious- back then they were about $7.00 now there around $10.00 each, that’s pretty good, you could keep them for those times when your camping in another balloon room, haha- 🤠♥️🐾✝️🇺🇸🍀🌲🕯️🥃
Btw i LOOOVE your doggie!😍
The diesel heater talks. If it was made in China, it probably also listens, takes pictures and tracks your location.
That you call it camping, when it is over night parking, is part of the problem. Camping has never been allowed, but if you think you are camping you are already wrong.
