I can’t get enough of this information, it is so fascinating and really feeds my soul. Hands down the best channel on You Tube. I love that Ted Hand even made an appearance!!
Interesting interview that really underscores that these texts cannot be understood without also understanding the cultural moment in which they were produced. Distinguishing the prisca theologica from syncretism is helpful although it makes me wonder if the polemical connotation is always present rather than particular to this period, e.g. has Proclus made a similar imposition upon the Chaldean Oracles by asserting that they align with his Platonism?
I think the polemical element probably runs all the way back to the Pre-socratics and Socrates as a gadfly in the market place, it just snowballs quite dramatically from there and gains institutional momentum down the road.
Where the 900 theses a threat to Medici banking -- economics did not exist, but Pico knew that both Aristotle and Plato included statecraft science in philosophy, certainly Savonorola was interested and maybe Piero de Medici feared what Pico della Mirandola might teach the King of France marching into Florence as Piero was forced to flee and Pico ingested arsenic.
@@TheModernHermeticist apparently you can cause I still dont have my goddamned documentary. Just more iiiinterviews. How dare you speak to people when we need real questions answered. America needs you.
