How do select bearing type?

I cannot say much on bearing selection . However simple way of selection is based on speed . If Speed is lower, sleeve type journal cum fixed thrust bearing is used and when speed is higher then tilting pad journal and fixed thrust bearing is used . Some cases tilting journal and tilting thrust pad is also used ..selection criteria are limitation of journal surface speed, thrust surface speed, specific load on journal area as well as specific load on thrust area... these are basics selection guidelines ...thanks
