While we're talking flying guitars, let's check out Miku's Zemidus V ( Band Maid) and while we're in Japan, Miyako's( Love Bites) signature Dean V.... My favorite? My leftover parts V
Trog should get a K.K. Downing stage outfit to wear when demoing these types of guitars ! I like that V , I love Silverburst , yet I prefer the V's with the large pickgaurd...Thanks Trogly !
The funny thing about the backs of guitars to me is after I initially purchase a guitar I'm not looking at the back very often. Like one or two times a year? Seems like a waste of money to have a back bursted.
I have a Les Paul studio that has a rather plain mahogany top. There’s a little bit of wood grain but nothing impressive The back on the other hand is a single piece with big ribbon flame stripes that move all over the place. I look at it all the time! 😂
I acquired a bunch of bad playing habits, back when a Flying V was my only guitar for a couple years as a teenager, that took me years to unlearn & recover from. Invariably, my playing would have progressed much more rapidly during those critical formative years, with a comfortable ergonomic guitar like a Stratocaster…🎸
When I was getting into guitar playing in high school I thought V's were the coolest guitar. Then my friends dad bought one and I tried to play it sitting down. Yeah, I only played it for about 5 minutes before I did a 180 on V's. Maybe they are great to play standing up. I'm not a pro musician. I play sitting down in my bedroom and V's are terrible for that. I understand your point 100 percent.
The V is most perfect for playing in sitting classical posture. If one had classical training of the instrument its absolutely perfect. But who cares, if most of the interwebs is repeating utter nonsense?
I do like flying V's, but I'm not a fan of silver burst anything. Maybe because I grew up in the age of black and white TV. All guitars looked like that no matter what color they were. But I still enjoyed your review, thanks.
Perhaps this is the classic error made by the corporate mentality of saving money by cut back the cost by making a smaller plastic electronics cover plate and save .50c (cents) in business it's called, 'stop to pick up pennies and step over dollars' Gibson doesn't listen to players needs. They listen to accountants. They spend more money on marketing than quality control. Hey Mark agnesi! Pay attention to what players say about QC and not your commission and bonus
though i like Vs and other odd shaped guitars, unless standing, using a strap, they suck to play. at least for me. even standing, the V feels weird, but i guess i could get used to it.
lol flying v wen it looks more like a leaning A...i still love them tho..the pickups sounded pretty good. now if they wer 800$ ide say they wer worth evry penny.
Wow that burst isn't done very well. The border on the treble side is much bigger than the one on the bass side. Also, right where both wings "begin" the border has bumps in it. I know... just play the damn thing... but that would drive me nuts.
I'm still seeking one of the black pickguards (that the 07 GOTW Zebrawood version has) that Gibson says doesn't exist as they never made one in black. My 06 is ebony, I just want an authentic pickguard to match. Firebirds Rule!
100+ yr old Lacey Act put manufacturers, collectors and hobbyists in legal exposure for not having sufficiently documented possession of woods that may not have been harvested legally. Big deal for folks trading or transporting guitars across borders on tour or otherwise.
He keeps highlighting why I never buy black guitars, they expose all the cracks, scratches and other mistakes. Now don't get me wrong, I will dance with a Black Les Paul Custom Black Beauty, lol.
Trog is just a guitar dealer, you can't compare him to Rick Beato who is a good musician and producer, big difference, just look at the great musicians and guitar players he hosted, some of the best today
How they call this a reissue I don't know. For me, if a lay person puts a vintage next to a (proper) reissue, it should be hard to tell the difference other than wear and the serial number. I like the color, though!

Love that Michael Schenker or is that a Rudolph V?
1967 Flying V for Gibson and Jackson Rhoads offset white V with pin stripes. 58 Gibson Flying V as well...

V'98s 😊

he should get a K. K. Slider outfit too

What bad habits did you get from playing that V?
@@Davivd2 i love playing my V sitting down, it's super comfortable.

Bit dramatic
I kinda like silverburst on a Les Paul or SG. On the V it's a bit different, not bad. Cool acquisition Trogly!
That control layout looks goofy as heck.
Black head stock with black truss rod cover and ebony neck looks really badass. Silverburst seems a bit lopsided tho? Thicker on bottom/right half.
Definitely is lopsided. Look where the black border meets the neck pickup on the top vs bottom. Painter had an off day apparently
I do like flying V's, but I'm not a fan of silver burst anything. Maybe because I grew up in the age of black and white TV. All guitars looked like that no matter what color they were. But I still enjoyed your review, thanks.
You're guitar playing ability is advancing nicely, Austin. Very cool. Very cool guitar, too. It's light enough for me, too.
It's surprisingly twangy sounding in the bridge pick up for a humbucker. I'm not into V's because I play sitting down, but the pickups sound good.
I had a violet burst explorer in'83. It was alder instead of mahogany
I've never seen a Gibson Violet burst. Does it look cool, or is it a look that doesn't fit on an explorer?
Sweet! I can see why you'd keep it in your collection.
My fave V's were the Faded
I don't know how much I like the silverburst look. That being said, I could still imagine purchasing this V if I felt so inclined and had the money.
@11:28 what is that seam line boarder around the serial number?
Robot tuners about the only thing that could make it worse!
You should try and do a video on the Nick 13 Electromatic Gretsch
Do you have a Thunderhorse Explorer?
What's that riff that Trogly always plays that sounds like a Electric Eye/Crazy Train mash up??
I’ve tried to buy n sell some great guitars, but I can’t sell them. I’m addicted!
Those v’s are killer!
I remember the GOTW guitars. But I had insufficient money to get one, at the time. But some of the guitars weren't worth buying...
Beautiful
4:51 Misalignment. 6:53 Short shrift.
If Gibson offered this finish on the current 80s V I'd buy one.
The burst is pretty of center zhough😅
Gibson should pay Trogley because he is the best advertising that they have 😂
How loose are bridge post screws, With no tension ? Ever hear of any using a little bit of Teflon tape to snug up loosey bridge post screws?
I may not be the same form as the 84...But I think the headstock looks way better this way imo. Now, the position of the tone pot is a true crime.
Cannot unsee this face o.o

It ain't spec'd right but honestly I like I better except the knobs
Hi Trog,
I have a really nice green 2016 studio
And I have a nice Gibson greeny
Which les paul should I consider next as my 3rd?
though i like Vs and other odd shaped guitars, unless standing, using a strap, they suck to play. at least for me. even standing, the V feels weird, but i guess i could get used to it.
lol flying v wen it looks more like a leaning A...i still love them tho..the pickups sounded pretty good. now if they wer 800$ ide say they wer worth evry penny.
Evening Troglodytes!!
So strange seeing trogly open the same guitar that i have

That is a beautiful Flying V. My second favorite color pattern after tobacco burst. 🤟🏽🤟🏽🤟🏽🤟🏽🤟🏽
the silverburst with the pickguard looks WEIRD. the finish is covered! why??
is it me or is that burst unevenly applied? looks like the bottom is thicker than the top.
Are you going to flip this or keep it?
Reupload
More V’s
Not really interested in any 2 pickup Gibson with only 1 volume control.
I love Gibson pickups
That Headstock design just isn't for me.🤢
What do you think one of those zebrawood firebirds is worth?
I'm still seeking one of the black pickguards (that the 07 GOTW Zebrawood version has) that Gibson says doesn't exist as they never made one in black.
My 06 is ebony, I just want an authentic pickguard to match.
Firebirds Rule!
@DouglasMcLaughlin-kq7hk My zebrawood has a black guard.
Nope..rhoads v always has my heart..
Government raid ? For ebony ?
Yeah I’m curious too

Will we get to see a custom run of a Trogly signature Gibson? Come one Gibson, Beato got one!
Beato is way more popular and is a musician.
Trogly is a reseller/historian, not a musician. If anything, Gibson should hire him to check if their reproduction guitars are actually period correct
Trog is just a guitar dealer, you can't compare him to Rick Beato who is a good musician and producer, big difference, just look at the great musicians and guitar players he hosted, some of the best today
Gibson seems pretty sloppy. I'm pretty new and I picked out the control knobs right away
I dig it
This is the first guitar I actually like the silver burst on.
That is the worst control layout I’ve ever seen on any v by any manufacturer!
the burst on that v looks horrible NGL.
So, basically Gibson doesn't even know how to do accurate historical reissues of their own guitars? Yup, sounds about right.
I can’t recall ANY Flying V going 2-knobs only… that’s just weird.
Love the V
Golly Trog you are a fan of silver bursts? Gee!😅😅😅
Those silverbursts would look nice if They’ve only made it with the steady hands, not like after drinking 2 weeks of booze just before spraying it…
Hey Trogly, I have the '03 Sam Ash Silverburst Custom. Anything special about them?
❤❤❤ I love it
✌️
✌️✌️
You should try out Kirk’s white zombie!
Waffles🧇Waffles🧇Waffles
Happy Holidays Biker Jon✌️✌️
The burst is poorly done
Butter 🧈 Butter 🧈 Butter
We get it... you like silverburst
yahoo
Hey….it’s a Chipson! 🎸😞
How they call this a reissue I don't know. For me, if a lay person puts a vintage next to a (proper) reissue, it should be hard to tell the difference other than wear and the serial number. I like the color, though!
Z is for late.
#1 yes were #1 tonight .Hey Trogly oh nice flying Vs love em.
All specked out and no place to go….um….unless you like this "version.” I don’t mind it….hopefully that doesn’t make me a bad person. 🎸😝
Silverburst is incredibly ugly. Hate it.
I prefer to see the woodgrain, but if you can’t see it, silverburst is a cool option
I don’t have one though, at least yet…
It ain't spec'd right but honestly I like I better
