as an esthetician for the last 10 years and instructor for the last 2 years you covered all the things I talked to my students about on day two in class these things are so important and I don't feel that instructors really go over real life with there students. thank you for keeping it real
I’m not an esthetician, but I’m really interested in going to school for it. I’ve been so obsessed with skin care and the science behind it and I’ve finally figured my skin out after all these years; it made me realize I would LOVE to do this as a career! This video made me feel confident in my FUTURE job; that’s how great it is. You’re so informative & smart, I just love listening to you. I would definitely be a client that came back to you! ☺️

I'm confident that I'll be a good esthetician. I'm just scared that I won't get clients or make a living from it, so it makes me nervous to start...
I've been a licensed Cosmetologist for 4 years. Just know always have a plan b.
If you know you’ll be good and you have a passion for it. You can make it work for yourself!! You can literally make anything possible!
Start of with family and friends and maybe pass out a few flyers do one or two clients and ask for their honest feedback word of mouth goes a long way. You won't know if you don't try. Good luck
It’ll take time to build up clientele and get your name out there, but the harder you work to get your name out there and the longer you’re in the industry the more business you will get. Like any business, you just gotta *keep working hard* don’t slow down or stop for anyone or anything and don’t get discouraged. Regardless of what anyone else has to say, your own doubts, just whatever, you CAN do it and you WILL.
Edit: might seem outdated but get some business cards. If someone needs a service and they already have a card for you, then they’ll probably call you instead of looking elsewhere!

This video is one of the few that’s truly helping me kinda figure this stuff out. My end goal is to have a lil spa where we do skincare and nails. I just can’t figure out where I need to start and exactly how I need to go about this.

I actually feel like I have more of an advantage doing an apprenticeship over just going to school (even though it takes longer). I just started and most of clients are coming in for brazilians. We didn’t really practice brazilians in school, so it’s been so hard faking confidence while doing them. I was trained on the job, but Brazilians are honestly so nerve wracking to me 😩 I’m sure I’ll get used to doing them, but every time I see a brazilian on my books my anxiety spikes a little lmao.
LISTEN I did not learn nor practice Brazilians or even Bikini in school, I highly suggest taken a course with another Experienced Waxer to better your technique.

Do you have any recommendations for REFRESHING THE BRAIN OF AN ESTHETICIAN? I graduated in June and haven’t touched anything skincare since I passed my state boards! I don’t want to go into my job not remembering anything!

Currently in school to be an Esthetician, actually I take my State Board next week Friday 😳!! Due to covid most of our class interactions were reduced to online lectures 😒🙄. I’m trying to make the best of it but not feeling as confident.... I find myself going in and out of a black hole mentally cause I’m not sure whats next on this journey. I’m new to the facial world and don’t know much about the different websites that maybe ideal to conduct research for continued education ( aside from Dermalogica) or what products are trending.. looking for mentors and endless advice 😩HELP!

First of all you're literally so gorgeous. I'm happy to see you're doing something that makes you happy. The last vid I watched I think was about you dancing which was so long ago (a time where I was considering it myself), so for this to be the first I see from you in a while it's kinda like a God send since I'm really considering becoming a esthetician. My question would be how did you go about choosing the school/program? Where I live there are a good bit of options, but the pricing ranges greatly. In just a few days I'll be finishing up my undergrad, so I don't need to go into 12k more debt when I could be spending 1k. Do you think schools with higher tuition are better options or does it really just depend?

the only thing I'll say is that not even disclosure forms will save you. case in point, the guy that got the chemical peel and peeled his skin. signed waivers and is still using the esti for $500k. if they are contraindicated and you are aware, do NOT work on them. if you're not aware bc they lied, that's different.

Honesty one of my big questions is if an aesthetician or medical aesthetician is under cosmetology in a technical school? Cause I’d like to get my associates degree and then move on to actually attending an esti school for my required hours and then take the test.
I honestly do not know I believe someone asked that question in the comments of another video and it's a really good question! My only advice is to ask the advisor at what ever school you are considering
