Can't a day go by without this stupid Phil vs Peter gibbering? Phil lost his voice after nearly drinking himself to death. Peter also sang in a deeper tone than what Phil did in his prime, which meant that Peter's voice wouldn't get as worn out as Phil's.
You seem to forget (or maybe not aware) of how relentless of a schedule Phil Collins kept for the better part of 30 years. Peter and Sting left their bands, and that allowed a lot more time between their projects & touring. For Phil, there was his own solo tours, the Genesis tours, tours with Clapton, benefit shows & cameo appearances, and not to mention his recording and producing for himself and others. He was doing 10 times the work of any artist of his time if not more. And with each & every show, he gave a thousand percent, both with his voice, and beating the absolute hell out his drums. He did this every night all over the world for decades, and it eventually wrecked his back, his hearing, & ability to sing. I think all of that would be more enough to wear down even the strongest of us. And yes, he did some hard living with drinking, as he's admitted to. But it's so weak, ridiculous, & worthless comparison to keep making between Peter's Genesis & Phil's. Real fans love BOTH eras of the band, and it says everything about both guys in how their amazing talents allowed the band to be excellent for so many years despite the major change of lead singer. How many other bands can say that??
