more like evil people don't even think about it bc they don't care. and if they do think about it, they think how they are smarter than everyone else and that anyone else in their shoes would have done the same thing as they did but worse.
This particular topic is quite nuanced, one must first identify what evil is in relation to the so-called good, and the understand the perspective of the one committing the so-called evil, one general benchmark the present is currently using to instantly identify degrees of evil is to compare whichever act with what a certain bold and proud country from europe did about 80 years ago relative to the posting of this comment, and I specifically mean people will say some act is more or less evil than that, there are similar comparisons for acts of good, but its far easier to engrain the bad occurrences in the colective thinking of humanity than any and all good "things" put together, I doubt you'll have an easier time remembering the lad that stopped his car to let you cross the street than the one that even unintentionally pushed you into the wall of the corridor whilst waking from one side of the building to the other when at work, and here comes perspective where everyone takes any and all things that happen to them directly personal, even when they are circumstantial, and therefore a game of chance just caught you on the wrong foot that day, now as for the statement "evil people don't think/say they are evil", that is entirely the same thing, it's subjective to the one committing the so-called evil act and the one being the recipient of the evil act, because whilst I honestly think you'd have to particularly ignorant to think, since we have this particular example in the show, the act of rape isn't evil, most people whom commit it will try to defend themself and justify the act in one way or another going to ridiculous lengths to make the act seem of lesser degree in the eyes of others, don't get me wrong there definitely are people about there that would quite proudly state "I am a rapist" but no matter how much the media wants to portray this particular matter, this society actively frowns upon such acts. Humans have come to the unspoken agreement that certain acts are evil by default, any harm against children, against women, against old folkes, is indeed evil, and most humans with a good set of morals and in possession of a good back bone will actively punish the ones committing such acts. In the end anyone clever will be able to simply say this in regards to evil and or good: I have set myself this goal, there will be certain investments and certain sacrifices that I must make to achieve my goal. I must accept the sacrifices to win, and so I shall. One whom is commited enough to achieving their goal will have no issue crossing any and all lines they must cross for that which they want, even if it means becoming evil in the eyes of the people around him, take note that we live in a quite blended environment, where people have a very blurred birds eye view of the world which is constantly being tweaked by influences from all directions, external influences(social media) or internal(their own perception), most people don't really like to think for themselves nowadays, they'd be very happy to just sit quietly, watch, accept somebody else's raised finger at someone and take as gospel the claim that that person is "evil", just look at the mechanics of modern politics, it's a massive point the finger s***show, where the loudest wins less ridicule than the other party, where good becomes a tool for people whom do not have the best of intentions for achieving their goals, and where label of evil is being used as a weapon to silence any opposition that may thwart their efforts, but anyway, this is just me ranting at this point, I do however hope that taking in consideration the begging of this comment, there are a few ideas that stick to whomever did stay to read all of this.
For the first time on this entire show, I was more curious about the patient than Dr. House's usual dramas or diagnosis. This was also the last time, we had a character that was more interesting than Dr. house, and that is EXTREMELY hard to do on this show.
Hardships make you grow. Either you're crushed or you end up on top of it and find a meaning to your suffering and a reason to go on. Sadly the latter doesn't apply to as many people as one would hope. There's plenty of people with astounding potential in this world whose spark gets blown away. That's futher reason for me to go on despite everything bad that can happen, to honour those who have fallen and show gratitude for making it through what it's over.
There is no greater teacher than suffering. It produces only two kinds of people. Or, rather, it reveals only two kinds of people. The meek who curl up and die, revealing they have no will or desire of their own; or the strong who use the suffering the fuel the fire and declare "never again!". Suffering reveals one of your primary personality traits. One of the most important ones. You see, when faced with burdens too heavy or difficult to carry or situations too complicated and stressful to deal with, the meek fold. They put down their arms, resign themselves to death, and await it almost with glee. A silent resignation that demands others pity them. The strong take those burdens and use them. They declare "If I can't win, then I'm taking you with me". They have accomplishments out of spite. It's their middle finger to the world. These are the choices when you suffer. Give in, give up, accept your fate... or put up your middle fingers and fight as hard as you can, and maybe even harder than that, until you win or die with your boots on. It often has nothing to do with brilliance or ignorance. The brilliant can encounter suffering and still give up and call it a day and demand pity from the world around them. The ignorant can encounter suffering and declare "never again" and fight with every option at their disposal. All suffering does is reveals one of your primary personality traits. No more, no less. It does not elevate the ignorant to brilliant. It does not make the brilliant even more so. Suffering taught me who I was. When I grew tired of hurting and being afraid and wishing things would get better... I simply decided I was done with it. "Never Again!" I declared and have stuck with it. I declared to the world and to myself that I would never be a victim again. Not of anyone. Not of anything. There were stands I did not have to take, I learned. Games I did not have to partake in. But, those few scarce things in the world... the ones that would label me a helpless victim? Those would be battles. Those who seek to make me a victim, I am to turn into bigger victims. If I must sacrifice all I am and all I hold dear to destroy those that would make me a victim, I would do it. I decided to stand on the edge of the abyss and DARE the world to push me, because my hands are swift and I will pull it in with me. Or, as Mal in Firefly says, "Here we stand on the raggedy edge. Don't push me, and I won't push you." Or, you can simply take my advice: "The best lessons in life are learned from those who have suffered. Learn how and why they suffered and plot ways to avoid it or to make it backfire. World suffering will never go away, but personal suffering can be mitigated only if you are strong enough and smart enough to learn from everyone else who has failed and suffered around you."

I’m glad they represented both sides of the “is there a god” question here. Usually, writers will just lambast the religious view and call it good. However, more often than not, they aren’t the arguments I’d use as an atheist-agnostic. They generally just call religious views “dumb” and then state some hyper-cynical argument that isn’t actually scientific. It makes religious people look “simple” and atheists look “bitter” and “petty”.
Exactly. I am a Christian but I won’t pretend that I don’t see why someone doesn’t believe, and I won’t talk down to them about it, just as I wouldn’t want them to see me as dumb for believing. Shows need nuance.
@@NoFirstNoLastNameAs an atheist when she said : ,,i need to know it all mean something,, I stopped and legit thought to myself... I suffered in life but not like some other people to whom god gives meaning to their suffering Thats why we have religion...to find meaning in our pain, we all suffer Just that some of us have the courage to say : ,, it has no meaning, its just happened,, Thats why religious people afraid to go deeper, what if they are wrong I ask myself that question often, religious people ,,know,, they are right, and any argument against it is seen as personal attack Stuff just happens for no reason sometimes, you just afraid to admit it Cause your whole worldview would collapse
When that question rises, I think that there is a driving force out there, whether it be God, or Creator, Buddha, Allah, or even just a greater being But I don’t think they love us, or even acknowledge us, because we’re just a speck to them

This is by far my favorite episode of House! The amazing chemistry between Hugh & Katheryn was undeniable! This scene was so powerful. (House) "Why did you choose me?" (Eve) "There's something about you....it's like you're hurt too." Just incredible!
The acting by both actors is transcendent. But also a shout out to the direction and staging of this scene. For a scene where there is only talking it is quite complex. I do not know how the actors are able to reach and maintain the deepest levels of human experience across so many multiple setups.
This is probably my favorite episode of House. Just wish we'd seen her character return again. Such a powerful scene to the end of the episode. Really should have been a gamechanger for House but it is never returned to again.
Not every episode in a TV series is good. But, there are those moments, human moments, when the writers, the actors, the directors and the producers all come together to create truly wonderful moments in the drama that is the human experience. This scene is one of those.

"I'm interested in what you're feeling." That line always got me, cuz I think she was one of the very few characters on the show House felt connected to. He really pushed people away, maybe cuz it was easier that way, but I think he was desperate for some type of human connection
I can't count how often i watched through this bit. It is just an absolute marvel in writing and acting. My favorite part is the split second after she says "then nothing matters. There is no ultimate consequences." This moment, where house suddenly gets a reason why it matters to her, what you do here on earth. It is completely against his own beliefs and it looks like he got an angle of view from her perspective and understands it. He turns it around quickly, but that split second, that just gives me goosebumps. Bravo to the writers, the team and of course the Actors.

Please, DO NOT WATCH THIS CLIP! House is my all-time favorite show. I've binge-watched every episode more times than I can count. This episode, (S 3, Ep 12) is my absolute favorite. But DO NOT WATCH this 5 minute excerpt. It's unfair to the show, the content, the actors, and the story. Rather, go watch the entire episode. It's powerful.
I completely agree about "must watch the entire episode." (S3, Ep. 12). The interaction between the two of them and especially her delivery is absolutely captivating. She brought out the best in Hugh Laurie’s character. The writing of this episode was brilliant, but the actor's performances knocked it out of the park. In my opinion it was a Emmy Award Winning production. Long live "HOUSE" the series.
I've definitely felt that before: someone coming to me saying that I'm the only one they want to talk to and then constantly telling me that "I'm not helping" or "This isnt what I want to hear" because it doesnt fit what they think they want to hear.
I've had this conversation in my head over and over over in my head ever since my parents passed about 15 years ago. House was just airing for the first time on TV actually. The older I get, the more the character of House speaks to me. I also emotionally hurt more than one potential lifelong romantic partner shortly afterwards. My therapists says it's PTSD, but I honestly question whether that loss just uncovered a cruel darkness that was already inside me. My fear of death kept me from living life and I am terrified of ending up alone. When I was presented with an opportunity to embrace the life I always wanted, I shied away from it. I shied away from salvation and hurt someone who loved me deeply in the process. There is not a single day where I don't wish I could go back in time and change things. „I went to the woods because I wanted to live deliberately. I wanted to live deep and suck out all the marrow of life. To put to rout all that was not life and not, when I had to come to die, discover that I had not lived.“
She's perfect. They're perfect together - such chemistry between the actors, developed over the (not even entirely full) episode. Best episode in the whole series for me as well, watched it all 4 times.

I will agree with all the other people a fantastic episode great pair but she had me.....
Religion and sarcastic and dark humor aside, even if house was lying about "who did it" i think down on a very personal level, he relates to her. These are 2 broken people trying to make sense of past events. Their contradictory and incomplete philosophies on life, yet them being so similar, made for such incredible chemistry and a brilliant episode!
Katheryne was just incredible in this episode.. Every scene makes me so empathize with her almost like i should know this person whole my life and she's close to me.. There is something about her - the gaze, her expression.. it's a real gift. And of course the chemistry between her and House was magical.. One of my favourite episode of whole series ever.
You should see her in Vikings
@@paulcollins629 Yes, i saw her there. I saw whole series.
@@JohnnyGreatC yeah she is a bad bitch not to be fucked with
I'm sure it was mostly said with purpose, but still interesting for you to say _there is something about her;_ when she, herself, said _there is something about him._
I just want to hug her
"Evil people don't think they're evil".
"That's an easy loophole"
Evil people think they're the hero.
more like evil people don't even think about it bc they don't care. and if they do think about it, they think how they are smarter than everyone else and that anyone else in their shoes would have done the same thing as they did but worse.
Some do (aka Sociopaths) but they are extremely rare. Most evil people think they are heros, e.g. the Nazis thought they were.
God, this episode made cry. Wanted to hug them both.

For the first time on this entire show, I was more curious about the patient than Dr. House's usual dramas or diagnosis. This was also the last time, we had a character that was more interesting than Dr. house, and that is EXTREMELY hard to do on this show.
I found thirteen incredibly interesting
@@_mark_3814I found thirteen to be bitchy and an irritating "I'm mysterious" character with no depth.
I love it how all the truly hurt people in this series are extremely brilliant. Just like House. Just like life.
@@mattia1026 very profound response.
Don't push me, and I won't push you."
Or, you can simply take my advice: "The best lessons in life are learned from those who have suffered. Learn how and why they suffered and plot ways to avoid it or to make it backfire. World suffering will never go away, but personal suffering can be mitigated only if you are strong enough and smart enough to learn from everyone else who has failed and suffered around you."
Kathryn Winnick's character is one of a few who looked past House's shield and defenses. Both hers and Laurie's performance will go in time as one of the best I've seen in my life. Heartbreaking and heartwarming at the same time.
This is my favorite episode. When he says ‘I’d like to hear it’ it just hits different and idk why
This, three stories, and Wilson’s heart are my favorite episodes
"I don't wanna talk about it"
"Me neither to bad" love this
She was wonderful in this episode. I was captivated the entire time.
Recently I've been having more and more existential dread, and this episode, what they said probably will stick with me for the rest of my life. Whoever wrote this episode. Thank you.
This show had incredible writers...
Astounding & respectful comment here. Thank you. May God see you through.
Exactly. I am a Christian but I won’t pretend that I don’t see why someone doesn’t believe, and I won’t talk down to them about it, just as I wouldn’t want them to see me as dumb for believing.
Shows need nuance.
Shut the hell up "may God see you through" baka@@Some_One_One
@@NoFirstNoLastNameAs an atheist when she said : ,,i need to know it all mean something,,
I stopped and legit thought to myself...
I suffered in life but not like some other people to whom god gives meaning to their suffering
Thats why we have religion...to find meaning in our pain, we all suffer
Just that some of us have the courage to say : ,, it has no meaning, its just happened,,
Thats why religious people afraid to go deeper, what if they are wrong
I ask myself that question often, religious people ,,know,, they are right, and any argument against it is seen as personal attack
Stuff just happens for no reason sometimes, you just afraid to admit it
Cause your whole worldview would collapse
When that question rises, I think that there is a driving force out there, whether it be God, or Creator, Buddha, Allah, or even just a greater being
But I don’t think they love us, or even acknowledge us, because we’re just a speck to them

This episode was so well written; I wish everybody would take the time to view this one.
What a remarkable scene. Katheryn Winnick was amazing, and she and Laurie had a wonderful chemistry together. Terrific episode.
I know they didn't want the character back because of the structure of the show but I wish they'd brought the actress back to play other characters.
This is quite a important reason for him behaving the way he does yet none of his friend/colleagues who are forever trying to figure him out seem to know about it
So what’s the story here?
I think this episode they helped each other in a way.
This is one immaculate piece of acting from both of them. Every part is genuine and emotional
That "I'd like to tell you what happened to me now" was exceptional, after an incredibly well written dialogue between two hurt souls
I cry just as hard today for this episode as the day I first watched it. It’s impossible not to tear up even on this 5 minute clip.
The one time during this show where I held my breath. Katheryne Winnick can look right through you. I didn't know what was going to happen in this scene.
She (Katheryn Winnick) did phenomenal job in this episode 👌
This scene always reminded me of when Batman comforted Ace before she died.
There's something about you,
it's like, your hurt too...
Has to be the most beautiful line i ever heard.
I remember this episode very well.
Had no idea it was Katheryn Winnick !
Nice to see Lagertha and an older Ivar the Boneless settle their differences in Valhalla.
Underrated comment right there.
One of the best episodes in the series. Just beautiful perfection to ball your eyes out to
*bawl
Idk why but this episode always sticks with me it's possibly the best one of the entire series
Katheryn winnick is an amazing actress
totally agree. wow great acting. this story is one of the best in the whole House tv show. kudos!
Not every episode in a TV series is good. But, there are those moments, human moments, when the writers, the actors, the directors and the producers all come together to create truly wonderful moments in the drama that is the human experience. This scene is one of those.
Easily my all time fav House episode...KW blew me away...Back then I had no idea what a bad ass she was with the Karate and all...She went on to quite a career after this...
I think this is top 5 moment of House. Just an amazing scene and episode.
One of my favorite episodes, great acting and thought provoking dialog!
This was the greatest house episode.
This was such a good episode. House being a real role model here.
Lagertha!
En mi opinión el mejor capitulo de Dr House.La actuación increíble de Hugh Laurie,la estupenda actriz que es Winnick y la dirección de Campanella hicieron de este capítulo una joya.Que serie memorable.NUNCA debería haber terminado.Si Grey Anatomy lleva 18 temporadas, House podría seguir existiendo.❤️
God, i wish the soundtrack for this scene was released. It and the scene are so beautiful. I had to come to RUclips after watching the episode to try and adn find it
This is one of the greatest moments on film I've ever seen. This whole episode is just...I dont even have words for it.
"I'm interested in what you're feeling." That line always got me, cuz I think she was one of the very few characters on the show House felt connected to. He really pushed people away, maybe cuz it was easier that way, but I think he was desperate for some type of human connection
It’s the best episode of the show for me
I can't count how often i watched through this bit.
Amazing actress!
damn she's pretty and badass looking as Lagertha
Hands dow, the best episode of the entire series
I wanted her to come back
An acting master class.
This was such a huge important episode!
Kathryn Winnick before Vikings made her internationally famous. Cool.
The show was always good, but when this episode appeared I just could not get away from the screen. House being vulnerable for a single moment was unbelievable... I cannot express it in any other way ...
One of the best episodes!!!
Katheryn is the captain Marvel we deserved. A true badass woman, unlike that poker face one.
Oshit you're right. She would've been a great Carol Danvers.
She would have been a great Captain Marvel and a great Black Canary.

Katheryne Winnick, the best Captain Marvel we never had.
I've definitely felt that before: someone coming to me saying that I'm the only one they want to talk to and then constantly telling me that "I'm not helping" or "This isnt what I want to hear" because it doesnt fit what they think they want to hear.
I hope they meet again. One day. One room.
That's right. Every victim is clinging to a hope of eternity so that the horrible monster is punished
To put to rout all that was not life and not, when I had to come to die, discover that I had not lived.“

this is the most involved episode of dr house i've ever seen
I read a few of the posts they're speaking to my heart. I saw this when it came out and I did love the episode but I loved the actress just to find out later she's in vikings never saw her any time in between but I always saw her in house in the back of my mind... great actress. I will agree with all the other people a fantastic episode great pair but she had me.....
Religion and sarcastic and dark humor aside, even if house was lying about "who did it" i think down on a very personal level, he relates to her. These are 2 broken people trying to make sense of past events. (even tho house figured it out to some extent with his) but he also cares about this person incredibly, because he knows how being deeply hurt, can affect you entirely as a person.
She is awesome in Vikings
- Why did you choose me?
- There's something about you. It's like you hurt too.

True. Physically and mentally.
If only she would have guess it is his leg, that is making his life hard
