Yes, and to think it has been around all this time and still going strong and just as popular as ever! Mind you, there's been some remarkable breakthroughs in breeding lately with dwarf and sterile selections (which you might wish to check out also on this channel)! AND, stay tuned, because we have some EXCITING new selections under trial that are really IMPRESSIVE too! So there's even more amazing butterfly bushes coming out of this "garden gate"!
I have it in my garden and it is free flowering and a prolific seeder! So, what I do is regularly deadhead it by removing the old flowers and seed heads as they form. It only take a few minutes and of course the benefit is that it keeps the plant flowering and looking fresh and I don't get the little unwanted seedlings popping up.
Buddleia Summer Beauty is one of our most vigorous varieties - it has gorgeous, big bright pink flowers that always seem to be a favorite with butterflies in our nursery too. Then there's Buddleia Royal Red: ruclips.net/video/3cEcLLx5RlE/видео.html it is a good vigorous grower with dark, deep red / purple flowers. Hope this helps.
The development of interspecific non-invasive selections is a fairly recent innovation, and this older selection will set seed some seed, so if you want to extend the flowering period and avoid self-seeding it would be good to routinely remove the seed heads as the flowers fade. This is a good way to keep it bushier flowering longer and fresher looking.
The Black Knight is the most fantastic butterfly bush I have ever seen!!! AMAZING!
