Sonic frontiers is nominates In the music category for the Steam game awards.
GameAwards are rigged and they always have been. So many times there have been Game of the Years where the nominies have been questionable to say the least. Sonic games have always had good soundtracks, now we get a game with this metal tracks as well as the cyberspace music and overworld tracks, and EVERYONE is saying how good it is… yet it isn’t even nominated?
I’d be interested to see how many people downloaded the God of War soundtrack compared to the Sonic Frontiers ost =.=

@@cartogen yep I've already voted for it, sucks that i had to choose between frontiers and metal hellsinger but i had to go with frontiers becuase it just has such a massive roster of bangers. But hellsinger with matt heafy, alyssa white-gluz, and serj tankian was so damn fire
you’d have to know it exists to even want to vote for it but most people only know how good the game they’re voting is so it’s very much biased.
1:19 honestly if you look at the lyrics they aren't even edgy if anything they are actually uplifting which is pretty funny
I love songs like that where they sound aggressive but the lyrics are like "I'm gonna go beyond"
I think it’s a good direction for sonic stuff to go. Edgy seeming plot, but it’s kinda silly or just generally uplifting, much better then the “I’m so edgy, I could cut steak with my angst” nonsense they got into for a bit. Also makes some sense from a storytelling standpoint, after all the things sonics been through, he starts to settle back into his more jovial and carefree attitude, but is more aware of the harsher side of reality so he’s a bit more mature, knowing when it’s time to be serious and when it’s time to goof about.

100% agree. Sonic is at its best when it's "fun edgy". The writing team isn't exactly great at serious tone, it usually comes off as kinda stupid when they try. But they're amazingly good at empowering cheese like this, where you're laughing at how ridiculous it is while also hyped up and cheering it on. It's a great tone for Sonic, and I really hope they lean more into it in the future.
It is edgy. Sonic has always been edgy.
There's 2 kinds of edgy. One is like Sonic where it's just meant as "cool" or with some kind of attitude. The other is hardcore in an intense or unapologetically dark way, which is usually a bit comedic because of its exaggeration. But basically Sonic and Shadow represent the 2 types of edge in this series. lol
This song is a banger. One of the things most sonic games have in common is that the soundtracks slap so hard for no reason.

Just that base line sounds like doom levels of deep, it is so good
I agree it’s on Doom levels of deep, but the thing that distinguishes this soundtrack and Doom’s, is that Sonic Frontiers goes for a more high tempo, edgy type of metal, whereas Doom goes for a more slow grudge and more techno-y Metal feeling. Like half of Doom’s soundtrack is composed of computer generated sounds and not a guitar or anything.

I'll admit, I think this is my new favourite vocal theme in the series. The raw reaction I had to it was awe-inspiring; when I heard it in the game, I feel like I could have been playing any game at all. I was just that hyper fixated on the song.

No joke, when this song started playing, I just stood on the info screen for a few seconds to absorb the heavy metal in before going full "Beat-em-up" on Giganto's a-. All in all, 10/10 first boss song, would head-bang to again; and judging by what is gonna be added later down the line.... I WILL be.

This is the kind of layered and seasoned cheese that Sonic used to be legendary for and was missing from the series before Sonic Unleashed... except Sonic And The Black Knight; that one still had a few metal tracks.

Duuuude the dev/composer of Ultrakill OST collabed with Keygen Church and they have created a true banger of a boss theme. It's called "Tenebre Rosso Sangue". You should definetely check this one!

Would love to see you do the rest of the titan fights as well as more Sonic songs. Personally my favorite of the titans is Break through it all.
I was never really a big fan of the Sonic games (Black Knight being the only one I played) but damn I was pretty surprised when I heard this for the first time and continue to do so watching other people react lol.
This game has truly been one of the greatest sonic games in a while

I think it's trippy people are so shocked by the music in Sonic Frontiers. It's the first of it's kind if you're being ultra specific. But the amount of different genres Sonic has over the years and how hardcore it's gotten at times makes this not surprising at all. It's only surprising compared to the past 10 years of lighthearted music.
We literally have Open Your Heart, Un-Gravitify, I Am (All of Me), Almost Dead and Infinite Theme in this franchise. I know it's not the same thing but they're not the same as each other as well. Just saying.. music like this was always in the realm of possibility for Sonic. lol

This fight is basically a combination of Perfect Dark Gaia Vs Super Sonic and Alf-Layla-Wa-Layla Vs Darkspine Sonic.
Yes, each titan is a Mashup of every super Sonic Boss fight in the series
Giganto is the super Sonic fight where you only have Sonic ramming to the enemy and doing buffer versions of normal attacks
Wyvern is the Chase
And Knight is the fight with the specific mechanic (the shield)

I was not expecting the metalcore boss fights when I played the game as I hadn't heard anything about kellin being part of the game. It was such a pleasant fucking surprise to hear when I got to the first boss.

I used a pitch shifter to digitally de-tune my guitar sound so it sounds like a 8-9 string while still being a 6 string. There's pedals that do that like the Drop Tune pedal or software solutions like I was using here which is the Neural DSP amp sim. It's not as ideal as buying a 8 or 9 string but for a quick solution it's pretty good!

The video used is pulled directly from the game it sounds like. Whoever uploaded it took away all the sound effects and character voices for the audio of the track, but seemed to have messed up a little

Musically the song is good, but the vocals kinda weigh it down as they lack bite, grit, edge. Call it what you will but it is missing, and even the screams sound kinda limp. Thankfully however there was a cover by Victor Borba - of Devil May Cry 5's Bury The Light fame - and he blasts the original out the water.
The vocals aren’t so bad at the very beginning when the hype is building, and they’re excellent at the end when the song is winding down. They fit the energy of those parts perfectly. But otherwise I agree.
Still, undefeatable is a certified banger.
