@Rafael Lopez well if I can carry a car on my back that just means I got some strong bones and legs not tough skin or THICC muscle tissue, but it depends on which type of durability your talkin about
It’s getting real interesting with this comparison after the JL movie. In the comics, it was mentioned that Supes had placed unknown mental barriers/blocks, due to the fragility of the world he grew up in, on his abilities until after his death at the hands of Doomsday. After his resurrection, he learned of those mental barriers and learned how to remove them when needed. After Supe’s rebirth in JL he did things that he could not do previously. His concept of time and his speed were no longer limited allowing him to see and react intelligently to things moving at unbelievable speeds....even keeping up with the Flash’s base speed and putting Barry on his heels. That was the most noticeable difference whereas before he couldn’t react that fast when he fought Zod or how he reacted when the A-10C opened fire on him at Smallville. If those things happened post JL movie he would see and react to the A-10’s bullets at a level similar to the Flash. Almost like he could enter a different plane of existence where things are moving in super slow motion when needed. He also had no problem lifting and carrying a entire apartment building filled with ppl and flying it to a safe location. He also realized he had the capability to exhale his breath at such velocities that he can freeze things whereas previously that ability was unknown to him. In many ways Supes is now unshackled after his death....much like in the comics.
Superman wasn't actually exerting force to cause the earth to rotate backwards...he was flying so fast that he breaks the speed of light that causes him to turn back time (comics physics..) The Earth changed direction because we were watching time run backward as he traveled. It didn't actually have anything to do with the direction he was flying.
agree. but also, he was probably flying above the atmophere- no resistance (why satalites can cicle the eath every hour). cavil had to blast through the atmosphere to get back to the ground.
This is where WB messed up big time (among many other things). Superman should have had several sequels, developed his powers, gained experience, & become well & truly embraced by all mankind. Then when he was taken out by Doomsday, it would have had a much greater impact. But no, WB 'kill' him off when he is still a newb, just a couple of years into his stint, because they want to catch up with Marvel.
Whoa you're comparing how Cavill dealt with Zod with how Reeve dealt with an earthquake. Cavills way of dealing with Zod caused thousands of deaths but when Reeeve had to deal with Zod he lured him away from the population to his fortress of solitude then tricked Zod into forfeiting his powers saving millions of lives. That's Reeve winning intellect for me.
heskey thank you, it is not really his fault that those people died. Cavill Superman did try to take the fight away from populated areas, but Zod was relentless in causing as much human death as possible, he doesn’t care about many people he kills because his whole mission was to wipe out all humanity to make a new Krypton, it wouldn’t matter to him if some of those lives were taken by his own hands over the machines that he was using in his mission. The only time Cavill Superman did take the fight to a populated area was by accident and he quickly tried to get the fight away from innocent civilians.
Sandes Shrestha pretty much, it seemed like Zod from the Reeve version seemed to want to just conquer the world, it has been a while since a I saw that movie, but I am mainly basing it off of the “Kneel before Zod” line which seems to lean towards someone who wants to conquer and be worshiped. Man of Steel Zod was going for mass genocide, he wanted to kill everyone on Earth whether it be by the machines he was using or by his own hands because he wanted to make a new Krypton, he was so driven by his mission that the only logical way to stop him was to indeed kill him because he was the type of person who wasn’t going stop unless he fulfilled his mission or was dead.
+Falls Nice Well BatMan Only Won Because, Well..............BECAUSE HES BATMAN. oh yeah and he had a kryptonite staff, gun, spear, oh and he had a vibranium suit, oh and he also had amazing martial art skills, oh yeah and also- YOU KNOW WHAT, ITS JUST HE WAS BATMAN OK...GOD...YOU PEOPLE JUST WONT STOP NAMING OTHER WAYS...IM GONNA EAT A TACO
Ghost Rider (2008) Vs Agents of Shield (2016-) Ghost Rider Joker (Heath Ledger 2008) Vs Joker (Jared Leto 2016) Plz shout out if you use any of these ideas apart from first one because you kind of already made that one a possibility
He also withstand the gravity beam of the kryptonian world engine while weakened due the machines effect on kryptonians. Would consider that a strength feat as well.
Still not as strong as lifting a new york like structure thats made from KRYPTONITE, Plus they're both kryptonain's and superman was exposed to the yellow sun for a small amount of time which means he didn't lose a lot of power.
@@Raffney That's a durability feat. Reeve-Routh Superman still has him beat in that area lol, (he's been frozen solid, burned alive, surrounded by molten lava, (while lifting the state of California lmao), and has endured countless barrages of bullets, not to mention taking a bullet to his friggin' EYEBALL! Lol. Reeve/Routh Superman would totally kick Cavill's Superman's ass lol.
Sorry, but Christopher Reeves superman beat Zod and his two lackeys at the same time, looked at the great Wall and it fixed itself, and turned back time to save Lois. Sorry but this is a given.
Guessing this is sarcasm, making the hero OP like Reeve doesn't make for a compelling story nor does it raise tension, this is something Cavill's superman fixes.
Danger Level 10 He beat Zod after a long while, remember he fled to the fortress of solitude where he planned his attack against the three villains, Cavil on the other hand fought them all pretty well without having to trick them to lose their powers.
I think you missed in the Christopher Reeve movie that he did save everyone because when he turned back time, the earth quake was prevented as a side effect of saving Lois Lane.
This should be a draw mostly. The only reason Cavill's Superman hasn't been shown to be as strong is because the script just hadn't called for it yet. Also Routh's/Reeves Superman took a bullet straight to the eye. Also you rip on Reeves in the Intelligence, yet how he lured General Zod delibrately into a trap in Superman 2 and took him AWAY from the POPULATION and innocent civilians of Metropolis showed a very high level of intelligence, instead of Cavill's stubborn "stay and fight" mentality. Reeves Superman knew when he was beat and needed an alternative solution to the problem. He took Zod up to his home turf at the fortress of Solitude.
Christopher Reeve would win, because he's the one that can smile at the camera... Seriously, though, EVERY version of Superman is measured against Reeve's Superman. To answer the question though, Reeve was based on the 70's Superman while Cavill is based on the modern, less powerful Superman. So, no contest.
Superman iused to be so boring because it was so predictable what was going to happen. Modern day superman is way less predictable and way more fun. Olden day superman is just BS.
STNeish He isn’t less powerful at all specially if you watched Justice League it depends on the situations he was in, the new one is far stronger but I grew up with CR. I do agree with you on the smiling part especially at the end of every movie when he would fly above Earth, looked around and smiled like saying to himself, “all is in order “. That was always cool and I miss it.
I was gonna comment nearly this exact idea, Reeve came from the era when Supes was still OP af. Cavill came after the relative nerfing of his abilities.
He didn't spin the world backwards. He traveled faster than light and went back in time. The view point is how Superman would see time while he was flying around the planet.
But I think the geomagnetic inference of the Earth's polaric core lent itself to a localized spatial anomaly anchored by the normal of Superman's space-time gradient, hence Superman's change in velocity inducing a temporal phase shift inversely proportional to the magnitude of flux relative to his 5th dimensional Frenet-Serret frame. Otherwise, he would've destroyed the universe (obviously).
In Superman 2 the Richard Donner cut the way Superman 2 was originally intended , at the end he goes back in time and fixes everything right back until Zod and his allies get sealed in the space/black hole prison. It can be assumed he went back and prevented the earthquake also.
I was hoping you would factor in Kryptonite tolerance for the endurance part. One died from a Kryptonite spear while the other was able to lift an island of Kryptonite after being stabbed by it. In terms of that, Reeves/Routh gets the point. 4-1
I'd say Nuclear Man, despite his silliness, deserves more credit for power. After all, Reeve/Routh didn't even flinch from getting shot in the eye, and was also punched through buildings the same way Cavill was. Also, Reeve/Routh got nuked and simply didn't care.
You could have also mentioned that Reeves' Superman lifted a continent to prevent an earthquake in the first Superman movie... that was probably heavier than the island.
I'm so confused... you also missed the montage where Reeve's did actually prevent all those disasters after reversing time?? wtf did you even watch the first Superman?
John Constantine (Keanu Reeves) VS John Constantine (Matt Ryan) Joker (Jack Nickolson) VS Joker (Heath Ledger) Hulk (Edward Norton) VS Hulk (Mark Ruffalo) Batman (Animated Series) VS Batman (Arkhamverse) Jim Gordon (Gary Oldman) VS Jim Gordon (Ben McKenzie)
I was thinking exactly what you said in the end. You can't lose in these competitions. If your favorite superhero/incarnation has more powers, that's cool. If he has less powers, you can say that he's more relatable, and that will likely also be true. In the end, we mostly sympathize with characters based on their personality, not their powers.
+Good Gamer +ShaunITO he has done tobey vs. Garfield. What I think HE should do is tobey (the winner of the last one) vs. Tom holland (when his movie comes out)
Henry Cavil's Superman did lift the rocket but nobody said it was the heaviest thing he can lift. The face of struggle is purely for dramatic purposes so is very difficult to say who would be the strongest. In fact, I think although it's a reboot, its Superman for crying out loud! At this time the Justice League is out and Superman easily beat the rest of the League and he could have beaten Steppenwolf alone. It's the same an only Superman!
Yes mate, but we repeat, an island made out of kryptonite the size of Manhatta. Reeve routh superman might not fight nearly as good as cavils superman does, but he is much, MUCH stronger.
Vs ideas: Hulk (the hulk )vs hulk (MCU) Punisher (the punisher) vs punisher (MCU daredevil) Deadpool (X men: origins) vs deadpool (deadpool) Ghost rider (ghost rider) vs ghost rider (MCU agents of sheild) The flash (CW -the flash-) vs the flash (DCEU justice league) Individual fantastic 4 members (fantastic 4 2004) vs individual fantastic 4 members (fantastic 4 2015) The joker (the dark knight) vs the joker (suicide squad) Colossus (x men days of future past) vs colossus (deadpool) Thanx I love you!!!!!
I have to add another point to consider. Again, Note that Reeves has a tough time in fights and won either due to his S or Power Man's sun weakness. Cavil on the other hand, fights superpowered beings and either won or survived and held his own throughout the fight with more finesse. So in a fight, Cavil has the advantage over Reeves there
a common misconception is the idea superman counter rotated the earth to turn back time, and thats not what happened, he used the slingshot effect around earth to gain enough speed to break the time barrier just enough to go back a few minutes, and the earth spins backwards because as a visual representation of time reversing, followed by damage being reversed in other clips, the earth would be devastated if it suddenly spun the other way. also as of the release of justice league cavill supes is shown being almost as fast as the flash, much to his surprise, still think barry was wasted in that movie, he had so many chances to punch supes a million times at sub light speed and instead he just pushes him away.
Fantasy Connect Umm according to the flash point paradox animated movie, Eobard specifically calls it the time barrier, and Barry cause a time boom that changed everything.
Actually this question was answered decades ago in Superman III. If you consider the fight more of an 'inner battle' where Clarke Kent struggled against a corruption within him caused by a synthetic kryptonite, that it manifested into two Supermans. Even though the fight was seemingly physically real, it was more a symbolic battle of "defeating our inner demon"
Chris reeves supes caught the statue of liberty and moved the moon in superman 4. He ate a point blank nuke in superman 2, and flew back 2 earth unfazed, while the man of steel barely survived one in the vs movie. And let's not forget the kryptonian forcebeams they were shooting from their hands in superman 2 also. This supes takes all categories!
One thing you have to remember the other Superman that I have lift the entire Island had a good chunk of Kryptonite in his belly so half of his strength is taken away already
Brandon routh superman had the ability to differentiate earths voices to extrapolate the location of the intergang heist (the minigun scene) i would expect some level of intellect would be required for that. He also had the knowledge to decelerate the Air plane rather than stopping it abruptly - thereby saving all the passengers. In addition he expanded his heat vision to destroy falling glass debris which would require higher level calculations to compensate for the width and speed of the debris.
@DCM Reeve/Routh is smarter than Cavill, in Superman (1978) he knew every place on earth,he want back in time to save Lois,In Superman II (1980) Lester Cut, tricked Zod,Ursa and Non by taking away their powers, in Superman III (1983), Superman managed to save a chemical plant from a possible explosion, froze a river to form a huge ice, threw it into the fire, causing it to melt and rain, extinguishing the flames, tricking the machine with an acid, in Superman IV The Quest For Peace (1987), he eliminated the world's nuclear weapons,he moved the moon forming an eclipse defeating Nuclear Man and in Superman II Donner Cut (2006) travels in time repairing the damages of the city, encloses Zod,Ursa and Non in the phantom zone, makes Lois have amnesia forgetting that Clark is Superman
@DCM The suit has nothing to do with the fight and if Cavill were so smart he would not take the battle to Metropolis destroying the entire city leaving civilians dead from that fight in Man Of Steel (2013), in Batman V Superman Dawn Of Justice (2016) alone he used his intelligence to kill Doomsday with the kryptonite because in his fight with Batman he was carried away by anger, ¿Where is his intellect in Justice League (2017) ?

It's funny how they have to downplay Superman's strength in the movies soooo much. I mean, it makes sense because the audience wouldn't be as engaged if you never saw them struggle at all on screen.
I think when measuring Supe's speed when turning back time in the first movie most people forget the he was flying way above the Earth's surface thus vastly increasing the circumference of his trajectory, so I guess it's safe to say he was flying at the speed of light.
Also Superman in 1978 DID save everyone from the earthquake. He went back in time to the point right before the rocket hit and redirected it like the first one. It’s off screen and you don’t see it obviously but it is implied
Still no. This man lufted an island and travelled from one galaxy to another and back in five years. That means he was actually going many times light speed.
Actually Reeve flew the speed of light to go back in time. He did not turn back time. He went back in time. Earlier in the film they reference Einsteins Theory of Relativity. Also Reeve's trip to Earth was 100's of thousands of years as his ship was going the speed of light between his galaxy and ours so even though it took him in the ship only 3 years for him biologically, when he landed on Earth he was actually 100's of thousands of years old.

Proxima yea you’re not a bright one i see
But remember, this modern day Superman barely had a chance to show any of his powers, abilities, endurance, etc.
Milo Bazan He had a chance when Doomsday popped up.
Milo Bazan u mean Superman 2017 ;)
EL OH EL No the movie was following the comics. In the comics, Doomsday kills superman as superman kills him.
X{Jai Zaini}X lol ye
That's a great way to look at it I never thought of it that way!
JPWArtist76 False. As Twin Perfect has shown, Cavil was not at fault for most of the deaths during his fight with Zod.
JPWArtist76 difference is mos zod was trying to kill humans. I think zod is smart enough to know he was being lured away.
heskey thank you, it is not really his fault that those people died.
Man of Steel Zod was going for mass genocide, he wanted to kill everyone on Earth whether it be by the machines he was using or by his own hands because he wanted to make a new Krypton, he was so driven by his mission that the only logical way to stop him was to indeed kill him because he was the type of person who wasn’t going stop unless he fulfilled his mission or was dead.

henry cavil's superman survived nuclear bomb, kryptonic staff and batman!!
Hence the durability point.
But stunned by the gas station explosion.

Ghost Rider (2008) Vs Agents of Shield (2016-) Ghost Rider
Joker (Heath Ledger 2008) Vs Joker (Jared Leto 2016)
Plz shout out if you use any of these ideas apart from first one because you kind of already made that one a possibility

He'll probably wait for the Joker match as we've seen very little of Leto's Joker compared to Ledger's

Listen to this guy he's got great ideas
Reeve's Superman told the world his one and only weakness in an interview. That's pretty low intellect in my opinion.
He wasn't making earth spin to reverse time
He was travelling in time and earth was a way to show that
Man of steel is great!
Than the other one!
No, he was definitely reversing the direction of the earth. This was the 70's.

so for strength we just gonna ignore that cavills superman broke the neck of a kryptonain under the effects of a yellow sun...
its like a man breaking the neck of another man...theyre both evenly matched
He also withstand the gravity beam of the kryptonian world engine while weakened due the machines effect on kryptonians.
Would consider that a strength feat as well.
Still not as strong as lifting a new york like structure thats made from KRYPTONITE, Plus they're both kryptonain's and superman was exposed to the yellow sun for a small amount of time which means he didn't lose a lot of power.
@@honestcomment862 Reeves is of course much stronger but Cavill isn't weak at all. Reeves and Cavill is like Pre-Crisis Superman compared to New 52.

Too OP
Guessing this is sarcasm, making the hero OP like Reeve doesn't make for a compelling story nor does it raise tension, this is something Cavill's superman fixes.
Danger Level Yes! Cavill is no match for Reeves!:)
Saitama wins
Cavill tried to take it away and was punched back causing more damage.
Reeves character might be stronger but the man of steel looks way better 👀
It’s not because one Superman was smarter or dumber than the other. It’s because one writer was smarter or dumber than the other.
I remember the 60's cartoons where superman punched a laser beam.
Actually, he did that in the Max Fleischer cartoons in the 30s as well!
George Montes Either way, it’s still the speed of light.
LOL😄😄😄
In Superman 2 the Richard Donner cut the way Superman 2 was originally intended , at the end he goes back in time and fixes everything right back until Zod and his allies get sealed in the space/black hole prison. It can be assumed he went back and prevented the earthquake also.
I was hoping you would factor in Kryptonite tolerance for the endurance part. One died from a Kryptonite spear while the other was able to lift an island of Kryptonite after being stabbed by it. In terms of that, Reeves/Routh gets the point. 4-1
I didn't even start watching this video and clicked the Like button because I fought that this video will be coll

Henry Cavill's Superman stopped a Earthquake by moving a tictionc plate(watch Comic Books vs The World)
Swag Uchiha Do you think he really can, considering he struggles with 85 tons?
Reeve did the same thing. Plus he pushed the moon out of its orbit with no trouble. Cavill hasn't even come close to that.
Main Man exactly!
i dont watch comic books i read them
So did Reeve Superman..
I'd say Nuclear Man, despite his silliness, deserves more credit for power. After all, Reeve/Routh didn't even flinch from getting shot in the eye, and was also punched through buildings the same way Cavill was. Also, Reeve/Routh got nuked and simply didn't care.
Why doesn't it say

You could have also mentioned that Reeves' Superman lifted a continent to prevent an earthquake in the first Superman movie... that was probably heavier than the island.

Rafael Arango E. He basically did beat Steppenwolf alone.
Yes mate, but we repeat, an island made out of kryptonite the size of Manhatta. Reeve routh superman might not fight nearly as good as cavils superman does, but he is much, MUCH stronger.

I putting my money on superman
U noob
I thought the 1978 Superman went back in time, and we saw it from his perspective.
Ezra Miller Vs. Grant Gustin
(Flash)
No such thing as a time barrier smh.
What he did is use special relativity to convince physics that his position in space-time is earlier.
oh yeah? tell that to the flash lol
There's no time barrier in any flash comics either. It's fanon stupidity.
Fantasy Connect Umm according to the flash point paradox animated movie, Eobard specifically calls it the time barrier, and Barry cause a time boom that changed everything.
That's a metaphor...
Actually this question was answered decades ago in Superman III.
If you consider the fight more of an 'inner battle' where Clarke Kent struggled against a corruption within him caused by a synthetic kryptonite,
that it manifested into two Supermans.
Even though the fight was seemingly physically real, it was more a symbolic battle of "defeating our inner demon"
When the beat drop tho
Did you even watch BVS?! This is bull, Cavill’s Superman EASILY pulled a giant ship.
Star Killer ikr
Rocket
Pulling a giant ship or lifting a Texas sized piece of rubble made from Kryptonite.. hmm I think Reeves is stronger.
*flying away from a black hole*
Ethan King
woah now let’s not say Texas he said Manhattan which is a city not the second largest state in the us
Chris reeves supes caught the statue of liberty and moved the moon in superman 4. He ate a point blank nuke in superman 2, and flew back 2 earth unfazed, while the man of steel barely survived one in the vs movie. And let's not forget the kryptonian forcebeams they were shooting from their hands in superman 2 also. This supes takes all categories!
But Reeves' Superman outwitted Lex Luthor and General Zod in Superman 2 :)
The plane scene from routes' superman is literally my dad's favourite scene
One thing you have to remember the other Superman that I have lift the entire Island had a good chunk of Kryptonite in his belly so half of his strength is taken away already
Brandon routh superman had the ability to differentiate earths voices to extrapolate the location of the intergang heist (the minigun scene) i would expect some level of intellect would be required for that. He also had the knowledge to decelerate the Air plane rather than stopping it abruptly - thereby saving all the passengers. In addition he expanded his heat vision to destroy falling glass debris which would require higher level calculations to compensate for the width and speed of the debris.
Come back gubz... I miss your videos 🥲.
In my opinion
Strenght: Reeve/Routh Wins
Speed: Reeve/Routh Wins
Durability: Cavill Wins
Intellect: Reeve/Routh Wins
Abilities: Reeve/Routh Wins
Agree with you
@DCM Nop, Reeve/Routh spent 12 years in the fortress of solitude not only controlling his powers but studying about the earth and the galaxies
@DCM You're only saying it because you couldn't think of anything else for Cavill's depressed emo Superman
For the speed you forgot when in man of steel he flew to the 3 leg machine on the other side of the world.
Gubz, i love all your videos and they make me laugh, you deserve more subscribers. Can you calculate ezra miller's flash speed again because there is more footage of his speed, justice league trailer.

It's funny how they have to downplay Superman's strength in the movies soooo much. I mean, it makes sense because the audience wouldn't be as engaged if you never saw them struggle at all on screen.
About endurance, the old Superman had bullets bouncing off of him in one scene, so that's much more than a slap in the face.
SUPERMAN 4
HE MOVED THE MOON
Please do shield ghost rider vs move ghost rider
I think when measuring Supe's speed when turning back time in the first movie most people forget the he was flying way above the Earth's surface thus vastly increasing the circumference of his trajectory, so I guess it's safe to say he was flying at the speed of light.
Also Superman in 1978 DID save everyone from the earthquake. He went back in time to the point right before the rocket hit and redirected it like the first one. It’s off screen and you don’t see it obviously but it is implied
Now that we have seen justice league I think you should have changed ur mind by now...
TheGamingSparrows 1 old superman moved the moon
Still no. This man lufted an island and travelled from one galaxy to another and back in five years. That means he was actually going many times light speed.

Nicky RBLX no, no they were not
You forgot Reeve Superman taking Zod and his lackies away from metropolis
Gubz, could you do Jack Nicholson's joker vs Heath Ledger's please
Actually Reeve flew the speed of light to go back in time. He did not turn back time. He went back in time. Earlier in the film they reference Einsteins Theory of Relativity. Also Reeve's trip to Earth was 100's of thousands of years as his ship was going the speed of light between his galaxy and ours so even though it took him in the ship only 3 years for him biologically, when he landed on Earth he was actually 100's of thousands of years old.
