    Great info! I knew the state parks and WMAs do this, I even know someone on the State burn team that does it. I never really thought about it on private land though. Makes total sense, when I win the lottery and buy a big piece of land I'll definitely do it! Do you have an idea of the cost? I assume it is a per acre rate?

      If you dyi you have the costs of cutting a firebreak. The Alabama forestry service has a price breakdown on their site you should look at. It really boils down to how much equipment you need to bring in.

      If you are in the southeast and it hasn't been burned it's probably full of privet, bamboo,kudzu, etc

      Yes!!!!!! Very good point. Lyme disease has been documented in my area in the past decade. We used to think of it as a New England issue but it has worked its way south down the Appalachian mountain chain.
