    I really like the way that your products look after their finished but I'm not sure if they would be sturdy enough for war gaming.
    But if you guys think they are I would like to know because I believe your products have to be the most realistic on the market.

    • @ModelSceneryExpert
      @ModelSceneryExpert  9 лет назад +4

      Hello Nate...Lots of wargamers use our products. They are lightweight, which makes them easily portable and yes...our products are very realistic. They will hold up, however many gamers tell us that they spray a solution of 4-parts Minwax Polycrylic to 1 part water several times over the landscape to seal it and make it more durable. Hope this helps! Happy Gaming!

    I saw shaper sheet for the first time at the model railway exhibition at the NEC and was impressed. I am using the model sheet for the mountain backdrop for my Swiss village village which goes in the window of our travel agency and the models are Lemax which gets impressive comments each year.

    Woodland Scenics to the rescue again!!! This is exactly what I need for my cliff faces!! Can I use a thicker mixture of Hydrocal? or does it need to be the carving plaster?

    • @ModelSceneryExpert
      @ModelSceneryExpert  7 лет назад +2

      Hello, Joe! The Carving Plaster is a unique plaster with an extended application time and carves easily when dry. Hydrocal dries faster and is not as easy to carve.

    Neat tricks, might invest in a Easy Rock Carving kit "Sho~Me~State" realism terrain!
    More updated material i.e. videos please. I'm new to your products and actually am
    into Carrera Slot Car Racing systems and not Trains.

    What was the dilution on the black pigment? Did you wash this over the entire surface or leopard spot? Video went a little fast at the pigmenting stage to tell exactly what you were doing but I really liked the grey addition to the Yellow and burnt umber.

    • @ModelSceneryExpert
      @ModelSceneryExpert  5 лет назад

      We recommend 16 parts water for the Black Wash. You can see instructions for the Leopard Spot technique here: woodlandscenics.woodlandscenics.com/show/Item/C1215/page/1
      You can see a video for coloring the rocks here: ruclips.net/video/3SfP4RpcDYw/видео.html

    Hey WoodLand! I've completed plaster clothing my 4ft by 8 ft layout. So to put a base coat of paint, would it be ok if I just used a acrylic paint for the "dirt" in stead of earth pigments?

    • @ModelSceneryExpert
      @ModelSceneryExpert  8 лет назад

      +Megaspartan Bloks Hello! You can use any paint you wish. It is all compatible with our Turfs, Foliage and other Landscape products. BUT...if you plan to use Realistic Water for any water feature, we would strongly recommend using the Earth Color Liquid Pigments to color the water area prior to pouring, or use a 100% Acrylic Paint (no vinyl fillers - most craft and interior house paints contain vinyl fillers), otherwise paints can have an adverse reaction to the Realistic Water. Thanks!

    When the liquid pigment is dry and if i Want to use Real water in my landscape Will the pigment be washed of?

      Jonas Geirsson Our products are not waterproof, so the pigments will not work with real water. Thanks for your interest, though!

      +Grizzly Boxing BIG BEAR - We recommend allowing it to dry 24 hours before carving. Spray Carving Plaster with water while carving to soften surface and reduce plaster dust. Then let dry before coloring with Earth Colors™ Liquid Pigment. Hope this helps!

    I use foam board covered with drywall plaster. Once the plaster is completely dry and I have carved my rock formations do I need to seal the plaster before I apply the first coat of yellow ocher?

    • @ModelSceneryExpert
      @ModelSceneryExpert  2 года назад

      Thank you for watching our video! We have not tested our Earth Colors Liquid Pigments on drywall plaster, so we cannot guarantee similar results as to what you see in our videos. Our videos demonstrate the Pigments on our Plasters, such as Plaster Cloth, Lightweight Hydrocal, Shaper Sheet Plaster, etc. However, we do know the nature of drywall plaster and think it is possible that it could work. We recommend that you make a test sample and apply the Pigment to the drywall plaster directly-don’t seal it. Thank you again!

    make a video on how to make over hangs or cliff tunnels

    • @ModelSceneryExpert
      @ModelSceneryExpert  9 лет назад

      +Kathy Kester Hello Kathy! Here is a link to one of our Scene-A-Rama videos. While the videos are geared more toward a school-aged viewer, the technique for building the cave can be applied to any project, layout type, game board, etc....You just need some sort of base and material for a backdrop. You then can build the skeletal of your land formation and cover with Plaster Cloth. You can apply the technique shown in the video to make overhangs, cliffs, tunnels or any other land formation. Hope this is helpful!

    Can pigment be added to the plaster during the mixing stage?

    • @ModelSceneryExpert
      @ModelSceneryExpert  3 года назад

      Yes, lightweight hydrocal can be tinted while mixed. Use any paint or dye that is water-based or can be mixed with water. After the plaster has been prepared, mix the coloring into the slurry. Be aware the color will not be crisp and bright like with painting. The color will be muted, earthy, and a little chalky-looking.

    I'll start by saying I love your products and have used this rock carving method multiple times. That being said the "stratatool" is low quality. I started using a brand new one out of the box today and it lasted less then 30 mins before it was completely ripped apart. I had to go out and buy a dog brush. I am all for your products but can you make the stratatool more sturdy so it can handle the workload. Thank you
