I also think we need to go back to a time where refs don’t need to be so pressed to hurry up bc of TV time and offenses trying to hurry up. Get the call right on the field if the refs need to have a discussions. More consistent play calling across all of CFB. Which to me let’s the kids play more and cut the out unless it’s clear. Maybe that means someone upstairs says hey you need to look at that penalty. If not looking at it then get rid of the refs who can’t call a good game. Pay them more money so they call a good game and get more qualified refs. Refs like teachers need to be paid more. It’s important and I just have the teacher example of they will do a better job and get better people in there if they paid more. Shorten the game down can only go so far bc the integrity of the game goes away so people can getaway by rules or what they know to be true. The more consistent you are then people can do what people do and try to bend the rules.
The punishment has to be implemented "in game" or else they'll just keep doing it and pay the fine. Creating a competitive advantage and winning the game is worth a lot more than a paying little fine...
@deleted5460 no. They can win their big rivalry game by cheating and then lose their coach for the next week when they play a lesser opponent that they will win with or without the head coach. Scheduling makes it rare for teams to play big time, ranked or rivalry games in back to back weeks. The suspensions will help the problem a bit, but only in game penalties will solve this...
@@joshuafinn6038 This isn’t the little 10, my guy. In the SEC when you hit conference play, it’s a fight most weeks. You think Kirby would fake 3 injuries against Ole Miss this week if it helped him win the game? No, because then they have to play Tennessee without their coach.
The first thing is we know it when we see it. An injured player doesn’t get up after a play and a fake injured player does. Then he goes down out of nowhere and on comes the trainers pretending to give him treatment. He should be out the rest of the quarter or even the rest of the half. That nonsense would end right there.
I like the idea of a rule that if an official’s time out has to be called for an “injured player”, then that player has to sit out the rest of the drive, unless your sideline uses a timeout to substitute personnel. I know you can recover from a cramp pretty quickly, but even then these players should make sure that they’re not going in too early to risk serious injury or re-injury, so it could be a good rule change for player health as well.
I’m glad they’re doing something about this. My idea was to have the injured player sit out for the rest of the drive or quarter. It’s gotten ridiculous, basically leading to unlimited timeouts.
And you’re absolutely right Lou, there needs to be a set of Standards that apply to the entire league. As well as all rules should apply to all players at all times, no special circumstances permitted.
This won’t change anything because they can’t prove it. I say when a player is injured have them sit out 10 minutes of game time. If it’s a legitimate injury then they should be off the field for a bit anyway and if they’re faking then the team suffers for it
Fake injuries are unsportsmanlike conduct. The game ref should call the penalty, assess yardage, and the Commish can decide upon further punishment (fines, etc.).
Maybe sit out a series or until possession change, or you have to sit remainder of the quarter you are injured. But faking injuries is hurting the game, slowing games down as well.
Did it a few times to UT this past weekend. One guy laid down for a few seconds, no whistle to get med staff out, so he literally sprung up, jogged over to his spot(opposite direction of sideline), then went down again
I see both UK and Ole Miss doing this a LOT for the longest time! We'd have the momo against these two teams and all of a sudden a defender goes down and comes back in a few plays later. RIGHT.....
The most embarrassing moment of me being an Alabama fan was this year when our piss poor coaching staff had our player to run out and fake an injury. No wonder they don't respect these Coaches.
As a UT fan that was flat out embarrassing man, I'll admit y'all were supposed to have time before the snap however faking an injury that obvious to get that time just shows as a coaching staff you have no problem doing so when it's beneficial, that was def a bad look imo (and I mean this in a "non trash talk" way) it's a bad look for any program.
@Bamamike223 oh definitely lol which is why I pointed out it's a bad look for any program (every program does it to an extent), but I don't ever recall our coaches on camera being so obvious about it.
@Bubbles--- oh Brother I have 4 recorded games of y'all doing it and your coaches giving the nod. 4. And this absolutely never happened under Saban. Not once
@Bamamike223 Care to give the games and time stamps? I legit don't ever remember us doing it that obvious lol faking injury has always happened, it's just more frequent now because offenses are getting faster and it's become such a beneficial counter to that, either way I agree we do/done it as well again no one program is any more innocent than the other when it comes to this issue I'm simply stating how coaches being that obvious with it is a horrible and embarrassing look, i'm not trying to insult Bama or any other team lol.
I think with NIL, they need to include fines to players who commit certain offenses when that player is receiving NIL money. With faking injuries, maybe not take NIL money. But if a player throws a punch at someone? Yeah. I like individuals facing consequences for their own actions. Including how coaches teach their players.
Make the player stay out for the rest of that series. (Can't come back into until there is a score, the ball turns over or the half ends. It would be good for the players if they are hurt and who can afford to lose a player they're willing to put on the field.
Now there will just be players on the field who are in charge of faking the injuries so there are no obvious signals from the sideline. Coaches will try to work around this for sure. Hopefully this rule will stop some of these fake injury scenarios though.
I think it should be the remainder of that series just to ensure its not a timeout abuse situation, as well as ensure player safety. Upon 3rd injury for that player, done for game
They’ll find a way around this. If a team is going to fake an injury now they’ll “schedule” it. The player in question will know to go down and stay down when the play is over before the play happens.
I'm personally tired of the faking of injuries, especially coaches telling players to go down. I am fine with fines and suspensions. I would go further and also punish the player too. It takes two to make it happen. I know that's mean. But its truly come to that.
You can't know either way, excluding when the coaches are pointing at the ground. Only way to solve this is to force a timeout to be spent by the offending team. None of enforcement you mentioned matters because we don't know who is or isn't faking. I'll have to admit. I don't see this that often in B1G. Very rarely. Maybe I just happen to be watching games where it doesn't happen, yet it's going on left and right in games I dont have chance to watch.
I feel like the player should have to sit out the rest of the series. Also a member of the other teams staff should be present while the player is being attended too to be able to confirm an injury if possible.
Bout time !!! But voaches can afford the money. Must be something that penalizes them in the game not afterwards. The storming field penalty hasnt stopped that.
Not pro TN they are anti good called games period.. watch without your teams glasses on, say watch a non rival sec game with those momoz trying to call the game and I promise it's God awful every time. Both teams get shit on and make up calls etc etc it's horrific especially with the money involved on gambling etc these days. They absolutely need full time pros not low rate part time ref squads...
So what would the excuse be for all the years UT wasn't good? UT has literally been one of the most penalized teams in the SEC under CJH so that alone proves your statement wrong lol
When I had a cramp, granted this was a faster paced HS game without reviews or commercials, they stretched out my leg on the field, helped me get up, I limped off, then they got me down again so they could stretch my leg out some more, and gave me some water. By the time I was ready to go back in, it already was the next series. Maybe they didn't need to stretch me out again on the sidelines, but given my experience with cramps, I probably would've cramped up again soon after. I really don't think it's such a bad idea to keep them out for the series even for a "measly" cramp
If the ncaa does anything with the injury thing they should take away no huddle offense also, faking injuries helps a defense kill an offense, like no huddle is for teams that cant compete with other teams so they run a no huddle that way the defense cant substitute and or get aligned properly, everything thats done on the football field is done for momentum, get over it, no one should get fines for being injured
I can understand this when two SEC teams are playing each other but, what about when a SEC team plays an out of conference team and said team is doing what the SEC team will be fined for.
I think it’s important that the player is never negatively affected for faking an injury. If you’re a player who gets injured, you now need to worry about displaying that your injuring isn’t faked, and so maybe you pretend you’re not injured at all. The head coach being penalized would be enough to keep fake injuries out of football
Should be at refs discretion sort of like in soccer where if the referee feels a player is circumventing the laws of the game the player can be penalized (cautioned). If the referee feels that is what happened, flag it, defensive delay of game, 5 yards and replay down. Its a judgment call that can't be reversed just like any PI, holding, roughing the passer. It would at least make them think twice.
I think it’s a great idea, except instead of just the Head Coach, there needs to be some discipline on the team and on the players too. I’d also go as far as banning a player & coach from being on the field at all for 1 game or w/e. I don’t know the answer, but it needs to be severe enough to eliminate this. It’s a dark mark on morals and character, no different than cheating.
If it’s a blatant obvious one like the kind Ole Miss as you said has become the poster child for the last few years, the player be just fine standing up and looking back at the sidelines to get the play call and then just drop like a sack of potatoes, I think it should be an automatic delay of game penalty. And that player has to sit out the remainder of that series.
You could predict the injury in the UT/UK game on Saturday when UT was on offense. 1st down, 1st down, injury. Tennessee just booed every defensive "injury".
You won't ever be able to *prove* an injury during gametime. Some real, debilitating injuries can't even be proven after the game. I think you have to accept that if you want to clean up fake injuries, you are going to have some collateral damage and some players who are actually injured are going to get penalized in some way. If you have to sit out for a drive (which is what I am in favor of), yes, some players who only got a cramp are going to have to sit out for a drive. It isn't really fair, but it is equally not fair to both sides.
I think targeting is dumb to begin with. When tackling your helmets are going to make contact eventually and it happens to be a player lounging/ tackling a player. And then you have to sit out for making contact to a player in a contact sport? So stupid
I believe that fake injuries can be reviewed, similar to targeting calls. If the refs believe that it is a fake injury, I believe a 15-yard unscortsmanlike conduct penalty should be called and said player should be deemed ineligible for the remainder of the series. If a second offense is called in the game, the sideline coach or head coach should be removed from the game on top of an additional 15-yard penalty and player ineligibility
Have the kid sit out for the drive until he is medically cleared. You don’t even need to address the fake injuries just say its a safety concern that players are coming into games and going down multiple times.
I agree Lou the fake injuries is cheating plain & simple and it's BS 💯 but even though Sankey has now put put that's they's gonna be penalties to The HC or whatever coach for pointing and having a player faint a injury and I'm glad Sankey did this 💯 but now that theys penalties for fainting injuries the Coaches are just gonna have the players sell the faint injuries better and it's still gonna happen imo I hope not 💯 but they's ways for Teams to get around Sankey's penalty or penalties 💯 .
for the record this is a different topic not regarding the premise of the video but any Why is the SEC scheduling the same opponents in back to back years Georgia vs Alabama Georgia vs Texas etc I have a better solution
I think the teams that played Texas this year should play Oklahoma next year since they are the new" kids on the block" then vice versa for example Georgia played Texas this year so there for they would play OU next year then UGA would get the return home game with Texas in 2026 season so basically in a 4 year window you would play OU/ Texas home/ away
The only game Texas would keep annually is Texas A&M Oklahoma would substitute their annual rivalry with Oklahoma State for Missouri 🐯 all of which were the last couple schools to join the SEC
@DammSkippy you dam Skippy people need to be corrected even me occasionally, he also should've said * watch instead of watched, and how about these mistakes: too for two or to, loose for lose, seen for scene, even sea for see etc etc
No one cares that players are faking injuries. Its annoying but its not worth taking time out of our day to compain or praise it, like polla ticks, no one takes time out of there day to go vote for a clown, we just go to the circus to see all the clowns

@ I could go for that
I've been calling for action to be taken on these fake injuries ever since Rodney Dangerfield pretended his elbow was hurt in "Caddyshack".
Wonder if this will shift the betting odds for the UGA/Ole Miss game…

This would have been useful in the 2021 Mustard Bowl between Ole Miss and Tennessee.
When you’re in charge…Take Charge!
A step in the right direction, but this doesn't take care of the real time advantage that a fake injury provides.
make a out for the quarter injury rule. If you stop the game.
I like that idea but teams could put in a 3rd or 4th stringer just to slow the game down it wouldn't matter if they benched that player for a quarter

This has been awful this season.
These players make money too....hurt their pocket and the HCs pocket
Faking injuries is crazy. Fines and Suspensions should put a stop to this. Ole miss faked 5 injuries in one game a few months ago. Ridiculous
We need an all-encompassing NCAA 2.0 type of organization.
The unspoken problem is the adding of 5+ minutes to game time per fake equals an hour
Good ideas from Sankey. The only drawback I can see is that I should be the one to determine what is real and what is faked.
Good step in the right direction, but not exactly sure who should be penalized whether the player or coach
The game ref can call the penalty--unsportsmanlike conduct--and the commish can decide upon post-game sanctions.
I was at a game once where Kentucky faked an injury every time the other team got a first down. I’ve called it the Kentucky Special ever since.

LoL...we'll just see some better acting is all that means
QUIN EVERS SO MANNING COULD PLAY.
TRUMP 2024!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
You got what you wanted and you’re definitely going to get what you deserve. Idiot.
@blkngwinn 😂 Yeah u right. With Trump our future is bright 🍾🇺🇸
I know he won't do it but CKS should bench Beck. Just can't stand to watch him play.
Lou for commissioner of college football
for the record this is a different topic not regarding the premise of the video but any Why is the SEC scheduling the same opponents in back to back years Georgia vs Alabama Georgia vs Texas etc I have a better solution
GT is the worst. Watched there game against UNC.
*their
@DammSkippy you dam Skippy people need to be corrected even me occasionally, he also should've said * watch instead of watched, and how about these mistakes: too for two or to, loose for lose, seen for scene, even sea for see etc etc
No one cares that players are faking injuries. Its annoying but its not worth taking time out of our day to compain or praise it, like polla ticks, no one takes time out of there day to go vote for a clown, we just go to the circus to see all the clowns
Lane Kiffin gave this video a thumbs down.
Sorry for your loss Last night Lou, thoughts and prayers out for you and your family
