I think my favorite part of this version is how clear it is when Billy Howerdel yells at the end. Really powerful yelling that I didn't know he was capable of. Really underrated and underappreciated!
Billy owns that part... also on Judith. It's a tall order to compete with James, but he does such a wonderful job. This song is a treasure in emotional connection of the performers. It wouldn't have the same impact if someone half-assed any of this. I DO think that on the record it's much more effective with less cussing the first two times and then letting it all go for the final two, but... that's James' choice and it stands ok.
I’m so obsessed with Billy howerdel. Hes amazing my skin tone makes a lot of folks think I only like rap. But Billy howerdel is my top three for sure😍 I’m so in love with music but he’s just amazing I can’t handle it🥴
His name is Noah Josh Freeze and he's fucking incredible. He was with Nine Inch Nails live from about 2005 up until their lights in the sky tour and he fit so perfectly. Nin has some of the greatest drum beats we've riffs out there and live just takes it even further beyond. He only left nin because of a family emergency otherwise he would've still been kicking ass with them as in his own words playing for nin live is one of the best bands he's ever had the honor of being able to be on stage with and add some of his own personal improv that just really stuck it for those years. Every drummer for nin has been amazing. That's one thing I love even more about Trent Reznor. By being the only actual member of nin and hiring multiple different members through the years they all add a bit of their own style which Trent fully let's them do so it's interesting and cool to see that the songs aren't just being played the same way over and over forever. It adds some kickass spice to each live rendition of the band through the years.
This was originally a song by Tapeworm, which was a band that included maynard, trent reznor, atticus ross, danny lohner, (charlie clouser adding aswell). The band broke up before anything was released. Since then, maynard has released 2 Tapeworm songs 'Passive' (originally called Vacant) under A Perfect Circle and 'Potions' under Puscifer.
I love his voice. There is something sick in it. It brings me back lots of memories and feelings. Ok, i definitely want to disvover everything about their music and all his bands.
Once you listen to all of Maynard music, you will understand that he is the absolute pinnacle of every rock vocalist/lyricist/performer in rock history. He has always been 100% authentic in every band and project he has worked on and has never compromised his artistry for financial gain or popularity. His vocal and lyrical talent will shock you and sometimes leave you speechless when you hear some of the songs for the first time.
I was at this show and I'm so glad they released a recording of it. These performances are pretty much all even better than their studio counterparts, and this is perhaps most true with this song.
So bloody powerfull! The entire spectrum of angry emotions, denial and anything in between comes by in the music and lyrics. I hope one day there will be a comprehensive biography of Keenes that will answer the question, how he tapped into this sensation. Not to take anything away from the band members (both or all three bands I must say), but it's Keenes as the wordsmith that connects the music.
This is an epic performance, you can tell everybody's having a great time. I think it very much feels how the backing "walk away and say" is missing which is IMO the strongest point of the song. So much talent
First song I've ever heard from them and loved it! Found it the movie Constantine. After then just loved listening to them! Incredible and sad song once you learn about the story behind it.
I’m not sure how many people know this but Billy is the entire reason this band even exists. He was Maynard’s guitar tech at one time and started staying with Maynard. They were working on a project while Tool was on hiatus and so “A Perfect Circle” was born. The only band that I ever loved as much as TOOL.
Stone and echo live is the most deceiving live ever. Don't know whether they're playing song in the background or actually playing live. There is so much quality to the music . Hats off
This song along with The Outsider remind me of the people I loved who’s opioid addiction led to their early deaths. I have to wonder if MJK had a similar experience. I know that it wasn’t really a thing in the early 2000s when this song was written but the sadness and anger and feeling of helplessness is all there.
This song is different. Almost completely shaded from the Light. You can feel it. Celebrated by Shaitan and as usual with true will you can sense the ebb and tide of differing beliefs. I for one Love the Architect, the Creator, the Beginning without end. I'm guessing here but I believe this is just another iteration for us. Until we ALL get it right.

That Maynard-Billy harmony is the most underrated things that's ever happened in music. Holy shit.

His yelling... and the meaning of that yelling. The moment when the father realizes that the son/daughter is dead. Awesome meaning and performance
@@damm-lee4377
what's that now?
I fucking love Billy’s screams.
i came here to say this! he delivers it perfectly!!
Billy is an unspoken hero of this band, especially live
This probably is the best live rendition of any song I've EVER heard. Shit, I'm blown away. Everyone was just on point.
agreed
Yes, it is! Wow!
Just kudos to the sound engeneer, he made it special
Ivan What Sure, but in the end it is the quality of the band‘s performance, I think. Agreed?

Maynard just continues to prove that he is in fact a genius...
no doubt about it
The Andy Warhol of hard Rock
Hell yeah.. he went to and graduated from West Point where his father was a teacher.
@@nocturnalferalguitarist well said

Maynard, the lord of the Goosebumps. May the universe be eternally kind to him. And the whole band just nails it
What a live! Incredible!!! I first heard the song in the movie Constantine, when Keanu Reeves stepped into the bar~
Yeah the same here and since then it's one of my favorite
Love the passion in MJK voice when demanding an explanation.

Probably the best live performance of APC performing "Passive" on youtube at the moment. Sound is fantastic and Maynard sounds fantastic.
80k march, im bored
Maynard always sounds perfect*
I've played this song on repeat I don't know how many times. One of my favs!
I can't stop listening to this and "Orestes" and "3 Libras"
This is so far out. I’m still shocked by this song live. Incredible!

Leaning over you here
Cold and catatonic
I catch a brief reflection
What you could and might have been
It's your right and your ability
To become my perfect enemy
Wake up (why can't you)
And face me (come on now)
Don't play dead (don't play dead)
'Cause maybe (because maybe)
Someday (someday I'll) I will walk away and say
