Thanks for watching everyone. I just reached 2,000 subscribers and 400,000 views in my first year and a half. A bit surprising since my channel was all over the place and not at all focused for the first year and my early videos are pretty bad. Your comments have helped me improve along the way. Many thanks!
I saw him perform at the Plush Room in San Francisco in the early 80's. In 1983 I moved into a Victorian flat half a block from Castro and Market on 17th St and lived there for 17 years. The impersonation Charles Pierce did of Bette Davis was so uncanny that the legendary star once told him: "You do me better than I do." Nice video!!
You were probably neighbors with my friends Fritz and Les, who I think also lived on 17th St. near Market. What a great location. Thanks for sharing these memories with us, Andy!
I use to work at Studio One. I met and saw Charles Pierce brilliant show many times. He was so kind. I got a new autographed picture of him every time he'd perform. He was on a episode of Wonder Woman in drag. The things they used in the show were hilarious. Hot curlers screw together to make a blow torch. I asked Charles, were you on Wonder Woman? 'Are they showing that ole thing again?' Thank you for sharing this.
1:40 I like how you put that "she holds court..." . You can bet she does too! That lady was dynamite. Arguably the best actress ever. Used to see her on Carson. She absolutely owned.
Great video! Bette Davis was great, but I don't think I ever really appreciated her until I saw Baby Jane. Her performance in that is amazing. And congratulations on the continued success of your most excellent channel! BTW are the author's initials A.M.? I read a book by that author years ago that became a mini series.
You may not know how much you are appreciated and loved! I look forward to all your videos and the fascinating stories you tell. Again, we don't have any famous people in our desert cemetery but I invite you anyway to Hawthorne Nevada just right over the border from you. We have a very interesting little desert graveyard.
Thank you for this video. I remember Charles Pierce from the Backlot days at the Studio One who also did a nice job impersonating Mae West. Bette Davis is always remembered and loved.
Famous Final Resting Places, it certainly was but time passes so quickly so it isn’t really. I buried my father at Forest Lawn Hollywood.Growing up in the city Hollywood, I remember passing by Santa Monica Blvd and sometimes stopping by to visit the Hollywood Memorial Cemetery. I am still impressed. That was a long time ago when I was that young but I loved all of the wonderful cemeteries then and now. Greetings from Toronto, Canada! 😀
What a great place to grow up. How did you end up in Toronto and do you watch Scott's WeAreTheRest channel? He's located in Toronto, but vlogs a lot in the U.S. and Hollywood.
I got to see Betty’s final resting place my first time to LA. I finally was able to finally see the whole movie Baby Jane and really liked it. And congratulations on the channel subscribers. I love your videos and your history.
Here is a fun fact. As GG said Rod Steiger won an award for his role in the 1967 movie In The Heat Of The Night.. Years later Carrol O'Connor reprised the role in the TV series. If you look on the wall in Gillespie's office, there is a picture of a former police chief. It is a photo of Rod! Very nice piece of respect for the actor.
Charlies Pierce was terrific. I've recently been watching videos of his act and interviews here on RUclips. Speaking of odd pairings of celebrities buried next to each other, when I was visiting this cemetery myself I found Freddie Prince next to George Raft. Perhaps you did as well.
You have really proven your theory of people of Fame being interred near each other. Nothing in life or death occurs randomly. As to Halloween and drag queens you need to be in Vegas on the Strip. I have seen LaCage numerous times. Charles Pierce was absolutely superb in being Miss Davis. Thank you for another superb video.🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗
I bet it's wild there on Halloween. Unless something comes up, I'm planning to visit Las Vegas cemeteries this weekend. I have about 25 people I want to visit, if I have enough time. I may need to make a few trips. Do you know of any notable people I should look for that are NOT altready listed on findagrave.com ?
My friend could speak just like Bette Davis, and we went to the cemetery and we left cigarettes for her. I'm sure she appreciated that. My friends and I used to go to a restaurant that was open late in Salt Lake City when we were in college, and the hostess was an elderly woman and her name tag read BETTE. I asked her if that was Bette as in Bette Midler or was it Bette as in Bette Davis. She replied that her name IS Bette Davis and that the actress Bette Davis was her godmother. She also said that Bette loved the song Bette Davis Eyes, but was worried about the singer's voice. Turns out, Kim Carnes and Bette Davis also developed a nice friendship because of that song. So, after meeting Bette Davis, the hostess at a restaurant, we often went because we adored her. A few years after that, I moved to Los Angeles where I remained for 30 years and loved almost every minute of it.
You passed by Albert Broccoli with mentioning him. Since I'm a confirmed bisnilseptemologist, I find that unpardonable. Hey, why not do a gravesite show around Hawaii Five-O? Most of those guys have passed on.
lol, i had to look up bisnilseptemologist. i've never heard that term before. i'm planning to do a 007 vlog at some point, so i'm waiting to mention him then. i've passed by his crypt in many vlogs and think i've only mentioned him once or twice, so far. i will at five-o to my log list, too. thanks, VC!
I watched an interview with Charles Pierce and Skip E.Lowe. if you haven't seen it, watch it. Charles Pierce is very enjoyable. I remember him in various TV series . Starsky and Hutch comes to mind. I never knew his real name but he was very recognizable.
Hey Steve. Speaking of celebrity graves adjacent to each other: on a lesser note, Pierce also appeared on "Chico and the Man," co-starring Freddie Prinze, whose crypt is probably less than 50 yards away, and is situated right next to George Raft.
OMG, I used to watch Chico and the Man, but didn't remember that he guest starred. I'll have to see if I can find that episode. I also visited Freddie's crypt, but haven't uploaded it yet. Thanks for the comment. I'm sure other viewers will appreciate knowing this as much as I do!
Hi Steve, I found out that the grave of Gary Alan Hinman, Manson murder victim, He is buried in Glenwood Springs, CO . He grew up in my hometown Fort Collins, CO. He is buried at Rosebud Cemetery
I wouldn't doubt that Bette Davis at least knew of Charles Pierce, but I wonder if he ever had the chance to meet her in person. Bobby Troup and Julie London, I never missed Emergency. I understand that she and Jack Webb remained close after they divorced. They must have been for him to cast her and her husband in the show together.
@@TheGraveyardChannel I'm a fan of Jack Webb too. Do you know he was John Landis' first choice to play Dean Wormer in Animal House? Jack turned him down. A TV cops video would be interesting. Have you thought of doing one of those?
No, I never thought of that, but it's a good idea. Thanks for the suggestion. I'll add it to the list. If i do it, I'll give you a shout out. Thanks, again, MrHeadbanger366!
Another great job. I would be interested in any British stars from this era in Forest Lawn, if there are any. I know Stan Laurel was born in Ulverston, which is a couple of miles away from where l live, and l have been to the house he was born in, but not sure of many more UK stars buried in the USA.
Another great piece of work. Thanks. I'm going to get out and visit some cemeteries on my own as soon as it warms up more here. What resources would you suggest for finding the graves of famous people?
findagrave.com is the most helpful to me, but just know that the info is not always accurate, so sometimes you have to update the GPS's and contact the person who created the memorial to give them corrections. Enjoy your exploring, Dwight, and email me cemetery selfie photos and videos, if you want to appear in my future vlogs!
Just a thought, Graveyard Guy. I've never seen anyone explore Arlington National Cemetary. You could do a great job. My father, mother, and a few uncles rest there. You could do them proud.
I was there in the 1980s but didn't do videos then and only took a couple of pics :-( I would love to go back some day. If I do I will definitely do a vlog. What a great place for your family members to rest in place. Thanks for sharing this story and for the suggestion!

only in the overactive imaginations of their respective gay fan bases. Davis, on more than one occasion, stated she had respect for Crawford's professionalism, her beauty, hardly the comments of somebody who was "contentious" with Crawford.
I think she's buried with her mother and her sister? Armistead Maupin. Most of his books have been made into movies. Best known for his Tales of The City. A really great guy.
I find it odd you have to explain who Betty Davis was? If you are interested in the greats of Hollywood film industry, Betty Davis needs no introduction!
sadly, most people don't even know who the beatles are anymore. time moves on, but I enjoy introducing these legends to many viewers who didn't know who they were, but do now. thanks, Giovanni!
Thanks for this upload, with all due respect, Pierce was a little overrated as a female impersonator or "male actress," sure, he could impersonate Davis, not a very hard feat, considering Davis' unique speech mannerisms, but he really couldn't do Crawford, she's hard to imitate and any drag performer pretty much has to "lip synch" Crawford for any effect. Julie London was once married to Jack Webb.
