Coffee is one of the great things in life. There is something to love about every method of preparation.
I have only recently had Turkish coffee. Spectacular. I like it sate. I was told that is the word for no sugar.
For me, sugar completely ruins coffee, makes it undrinkable. Not the usual take but I love the bitterness and even the mud at the bottom.

I also don’t use sugar in my coffee. For no sugar in Turkish you can say “az shakarli” for less sugar, “orta” for medium sweet & “sade” which means simple for no sugar or “shakarsiz” which means no sugar. ☺️

Armenians from Iran drink a lighter version of this coffee called Edna. It is readily available in all the Armenian stores in Glendale, Burbank, Pasadena and in so many other places in the Los Angeles area and beyond. It is not as bitter as the dark roast, and when made with milk it comes out tasty and light brown in color

And I always love d the smell of it, and, watching my grandmother, stir the coffee as it came to a boil. And then, of course, all her friends would come over so they could enjoy their coffee, and then read the coffee grounds.

    • @TheAncientTouch
      @TheAncientTouch  6 лет назад +8

Thank you. There is no benefit of doing it. Its only because when the coffee is being prepared under the flames, it starts bubbling & we don't want those bubbles as later we want to pour the coffee in the cup with the white foam to be appearing on the surface so we need to take away those bubbles at the beginning so that we can get more of the white foam later. so we take the bubbles & since we don't want to throw anything we keep it at the bottom of the same cup.

Copper is good since it has been said cooking in copper is good for health but by time inside the pot will change to dark and you need to maintain the copper dishes otherwise it will be very toxin cooking is copper containers which are dark inside. but other than that it is really a personal choice and by the way traditional way is in copper pots :)

Two heaped teaspoons of coffee is too much for one cup. I tried making one cup and the coffee came out muddy with the grounds suspended in the milk. The grounds would not settle because milk has fat and creates a buoyancy for the grounds when the proportion of coffee to milk is to high. I made it with one heaped teaspoon and it came out perfect. With a smaller coffee to milk ratio it gave room for the grounds to settle.

Hello! Thank you for the video!! I’ve never had Turkish coffee before & it was delicious!!
I just have a couple of questions and I was hoping someone could help me out.
    1. When I stir the coffee before putting it on the heat, should it be fully incorporated? Or is it okay if there are some lumps?
    2. Could I make this with cream as well? Or would the coffee not set in properly?
    3. Is it okay to add more sugar after ive already made the coffee? I know i’m not meant to stir it when i’m making it but could I mix in a touch more sugar after the fact?
    I’d appreciate any help!! Thanks

I would also like to know the answers to these questions! Mine wasn't fully mixed (incorporated) and there was lots of coffee left in the bottom of the pot.

Is it correct that there will be a lot of powdery grinds left in the pot when done brewing? I do not pour those in my cup. Can the grounds be re-used?

Hi! I am jsut trying my Turkish coffee now. Thanks for the detailed insrructions. I ordered the coffee pot however I don't have it yet. I used a pot for now. I usually drink black coffee when I do drink it, however, I wanted to see how it would taste with milk and sugar. I used almond milk and sugar. I was wondering if the almond milk kept the coffee grinds from settling to the bottom of the cup. Any ideas?

The sugar amounts mentioned is per 1 cup of coffee ? So if I wanna make 2 cups with medium sweet, I would add 4 tsp of sugar?
