Defending hard at the end of the race is never pointless, even if you have a larger penalty, the winner of the race is often determined by who can hold their nerve the best, if you're defending well (Without blocking) and they get impatient they can easily over push and fumble off into the sandcastle realm if they are trying to pass and loose enough ground for the penalty to not matter. I'll personally not even risk an overtake if the car in front has a penalty that puts me in front
When you are fighting for position, you have every right to defend for it if you wish to. No-one can take that away from a driver. However, if you let someone who is faster, on a better compound and has lesser penalties, that is definitely a good thing to do as well. It all comes down to personal choice, there is no wrong in doing either of the two things. I personally let people who are upto 1-2s a lap faster than me by because if I defend too hard, it is just going to ruin both of our races.
@@shikharbhakuni7804 exactly. Plus last thing you want to do is upset the driver your “defending” against and they just pit you out of the way. Which if that happens you may end up further Down the pack. Again though there is a difference between defending and blocking. When does defending become blocking. Most go by the 1 move to defend and move back to your line after that then it’s classed as blocking. Of course difference races have different rules but mostly in the sim world this is what many people go by. Your spot on though bud
@ For me, blocking is when: 1) Someone goes unnecessarily slow in a corner, or switches their line under braking. 2) Changes lines more than once in a straight. 3) Brake checks in a straight or ramming when I try to pass.
Hi Flash. Love your stuff as always. For the next three months or so, I will be busy, and might miss some stuff. I sold my business, and moving back to the town I grew up in. I can't wait to move out of the city, and go back to outside grilling with fresh foods direct from the farmer's markets. NYC was interesting, but it's not me. I want to retire to peace and quiet. I have a lot of decisions to make and moving is never fun. I'll watch when I can, and good luck with your channel. It always made my coffee taste the best.
Thanks bud. That’s ok bud I understand. Just make sure you catch up and check in from time to time lol. Are you excited ??? Sounds pretty freaking awesome man. Yeah man the city that never sleeps sounds amazing while also holding nothing but pure stress at the same time lol. Got to be hard to live there. Thanks bud but make sure you take 5 mins out. Drop me a line. Keep me updated and with photos of the bbq and farm food lol. All the best my friend :). I wish you all the luck
@@Flashms This may sound weird, but I miss the smell and sounds of a gravel road and I miss the snow. I'm too old for the dirt track racing and demo derbies, however. I guess i'll just have to watch them instead.
The corner at 4:48, with the tall curb on the exit, is called Bergwerk. It has a really late apex, try to stay left for a bit longer, it’ll also help braking straight and then turn in towards the curb when you think it’s already too late. You’ll set the car much nicer for a good exit up the hill and you can reeeeally make up some time with it.
Thanks bud I’ll give it a try. I am terrible at remembering the names lol. Should hear when I try and remember the track I am on lmfao. It really is about mastering each corner. Worst thing for me is trying to stay of the flaming kerbs lol.
Ehhh to be fair, the German names don’t exactly roll off the tongue of a non German speaker 😂. First corner on the Nordschleife has the most important name to remember: Sabine Schmitz Kurve (corner)! And yep the curbs are killers. A few of them you can take IRL, for example the ones at Wippermann (which is after the uphill part after the carousel and at the end of the flowy section). In the game they have yeeted me to high heaven. And the worst one is the one in the long uphill part that is just cobblestones. For whatever reason the game thinks it’s at least a yard high.
@DennisfromMunich yeah can never forget that name man. Yeah this is it man. What the kerb they changed after you drop down the dip and head back up the hill they raised that kerb. It’s like hitting a ramp now lol
I was so gutted when she lost her battle with cancer. I saw her far away once when I was at a VLN event in the pits. Man I wish I’d had the guts to go and say hi that day. This past season IRL they changed the foxhole exit curb. That one is a real danger now. I think there’s a few videos on RUclips of the victims it has claimed.
I have done an experiment. Hard No-Stop pretty much gives you the same total distance as Soft>Medium strat. Soft>Medium is more fun though. about 39.2mi
@DennisfromMunich I don’t think that’s the longest. I think that is now Laguna with the new exit. Jesus that takes forever lol. Yas is 59 seconds from start to finish. Yeah any race with those tracks are just ones to avoid lmfao.

Yeah I always play that safe line at the end. Especially when you see a 4 second you always know it’s due to contact lol
Awesome Race Flash Buddy My favourite Iconic Track Nurburgring
Thanks bud

@@Flashms Would help if the game would tell you what tire compound everyone is on.
I wish this was so true

@shikharbhakuni7804 good way of seeing it pretty much spot on man can’t say fairer than that

Yeah that’s fair. I mean I think the other guy at the end who I overtook did I hard no stop but the last few minutes ruined their time.
I’d probably try hard no stop at a track like Yas Marina with that awfully long pit exit 😅
