This is why I replace everyone's face with the original generic yellow smile face. No one gets a personality

I love this comment

"No one gets a personality" I love it
I hope Lego minifigures are more accurate, but the set isn't more expensive because of that
Prices were already raised, asking for more quality shouldn't be an issue.
@@kendi5391prices are raised because materials are more expensive. This would put the prices up even more.
Sometimes they don’t have rights to an actors likeness and just have to make due. Figures based on concept art for upcoming project and they don’t have an actor attached to get likeness rights from.
Other toy companies have said they have to get and actor or their estate’s permission for their respective likeness, since the license if for the character not the actor’s likeness. Lots of prototypes shown an toy fair say pending approval for that reason, and sometimes are canceled or come out looking wildly different, lacking actor likeness for that reason.
Some actors do just give permission in their contracts for likeness and get a cut (Jack Nicholson is a good example of it).
I wonder how it works for characters that they do have likeness to and have made a good face for though.
I don't know why it's so hard for others to understand this.
@@filmbeauty7493 it’s because they don’t understand how the sausage is made and want to listen to more popular people who also don’t know, but they are popular so what they say hold water, infuriatingly enough.
As far as I’m aware this isn’t true for LEGO minifigures hence why I didn’t mention it in the video as the face print is printed onto a LEGO head and not a molded form, there isn’t a need to get likeness contracts involved however maybe this is one of the reasons LEGO purposely choose to go more generic to not step on any toes
@@TommyCBricks yes, it depends on how the contracts are worded though. And yes Lego figs do count as merchandise/toys, some actors do give blanket permission as long as they get a cut, others have to give permission and it’s a legal hassle.
Take a look at Hasbro’s recently announced No Way Home wave for Marvel Legends. Garfield is branded under ASM2 and Doc Ock is branded under Spider-Man 2, dispute the fact that both are unchanged for their NWH appearances. This show that Hasbro wasn’t able to get likeness rights to thier NWH appearance but still do have rights to use likeness under the other films branding and skirt around it. Hot Toys had to deal with similar for their Gardfield product, I believe.
Lego might be choosing generic heads to get around that and going with ones the designer feels gets close enough. Reusing Jim from the Office set works surprisingly well for Garfield! It might also have something to do with the sets budget and cost for new prints too, looking at you, Ned’s torso.
REPEAT REPEAT REPEAT LEGO MINIFIGURES HEADS
I actually liked this video!, though one thing, that hawkguy hairpiece wasn’t made for that character, it was made for Olly from lego friends. So that doesn’t actually help that argument, though it dose fit hawkguy really well! Have a good day
Sometimes I prefer the original and less unique and actor accurate just because when I play with my figs is more fun to be able to imagine my own story for the characters for example star lord I don’t want to use the Chris Pratt face because I don’t necessarily want an mcu star lord and the other face is generic so I can make my own star lord valiant not necessarily based on anything
The fact that we can Erase a Minifig's Face is pretty cool, especially for Animators. Imagine someone wants to make a Bald Guy but only has one Head that is accurate, and has 2 Faces. That would be really annoying when doing Stop-Motions since he wouldn't be able to make a Scene with him seen from the Side
I absolutety agree with your point however I don't collect MCU sets so it's not a big issue for me and it's not a big problem in Star Wars.
Its weird to see that Mordo from the set set as Scarlet Witch has a better face print than her
If you had a line up of the actors that share face prints, you'd have a line-up of people that look nothing alike.
I completely agree with you Tommy! This is one of the reasons I like customs so much: because the people who make custom minifigures are able to put as much budget and brainpower as they want into each minifigure they make which results in more attention to detail, especially on the face
It took LEGO 11!!!!! ELEVEN YEARS!!!! To finally look at Jeremy Renner in Avengers and make his figure actually look like him. I won't buy The Avenger's Tower but I'm glad that we got CMF Clint and now the 2012 correct version of Hawkeye
Legit this is why sets over £100 nowadays don’t feel very good and low quality cause they don’t put any effort into their figures which is what most people buy Lego for.
We know they can do some highly detailed figures like the 2 CMF series we have now
The figures in there are phenomenal (falcon, she hulk and moonknight) as examples of this with how detailed they are yet in the latest big builds sets we got the figure either have little detail on them or outright nothing (liberty’s head as a prime example cause the figures in there detail wise was not good) we know Lego can give us very detailed figs but unless it’s CMF they just won’t and it sucks cause there are figures that really need it
No wonder people go to fire star toys or get customs which isn’t a bad thing but if a single person can make a better looking figure than an entire company then there is definitely something Lego need to fix here
Of all the reused heads, the one for Draco Malfoy works the best because of the eyebrows and the frown.
Lego really needs to work on their printing my iron man and spider noir have miss prints with the iron man one being on the helmet and it’s almost completely off of where the print is supposed to be on
Adding to this: Lego's style of face printing has gotten more comic-ish. Even the purposely designed heads oftentimes don't show the same resemblance to the actor that they would have shown say 10 years ago. A good example for that are the new LOTR faces. Apart from merry, almost all of them look less similar to the actor than the respective old faces did.
I don’t care if they don’t look how they look on screen they’re just toys you don’t have to worry that much about it
i agree. i have a serious problem with the endgame ant-man, it looks nothing like Paul Rudd.
Definitley been feeling this for a few years now.
Personally, unless the figure is so far away from looking like what the actual character actually looked like in the TV/Movie (looking at you Namor), I dont care.
Hey just thought I'd say this now but you know you're statue of liberty moc the one in Spider-man no way home had the shield but you could alter the build slightly if this really bugged you and have the shield on the ground with Peter 1 fighting the Goblin so I thought I'd let you know now while (I believe) you haven't finished it.
Chris Pratt has his own face print because he is in multiple franchises and within those franchises his characters are in multiple sets in the theme
And he is a main character in both franchises
And you know what suck, I've seen face prints that are perfect for certain characters, but they are exclusive to yellow minifigure heads, it's like cmon lego just print that face on a flesh head, you already have that design
Yodie gang… fulcrum come in
YUUUUUUUHHHHH
Faded then a hoe
I feel that the lego face prints are mid, I think they should make them look a little more like the actors, although I'm not the biggest fans of some custom minifigures face prints.
This has become a problem as of recently. But as you said yourself custom designers have kept and improved that quality. So maybe lego should hire more people like jakabricks
May I present an opposite opinion:
I think Lego minifigures and other elementa should (at least printwise) stay minimaliatic. Take for example Luke Skywalker. His original face was pretty unique for the time but of course with futher development he indeed evolved into a better figure until arround 2009. His face in the wampa cave and the Lexicon was still very simple, but at their absolute peak. In the years after, they tried to make him even more look like his actor Mark Hamil and add more detail. And the conclusion was... ugly.
I don’t know if it’s just me, but I have tried multiple times to find you a new channel and can’t
Gotta love TommyCBricks!
I guess Lego thinks all actors look the same
Great video Tommy have a great weekend
My issues with lego heads is the flesh coloured heads getting way more detail details than the traditional lego heads when based on IPs. If the character is white I much prefer the skin tone to be yellow, if the character is not white then I am happy with with them in darker tones.
The yellow skin town is meant to represent any colour fyi
that kinda racist
Short answer : yes and no it’s complicated
I’m surprised you didn’t mention ikaris from eternals
Love this kind of video!
alitl bit
LEGO should make head moulds for every minifigure they make
why isn't this on tommycfigs?

@@Imblueandimfeelingalright why do you ask?
Agree but like you said budget money can get tight but I can’t agree with you more
I don't like she hulk or agatha because they have two smiling face prints.
We’re is the Statue of Liberty already I’ve been waiting years!
Tommy we. Neeeed Spider man no way home moc plzzz
outworked
First like
yes i agree
Even though I know, Lego has a budget they’ve done it with a lot of other characters. Why can’t they do it with marvel? I mean Star Wars has a bunch of unique stuff. Harry Potter also has some pretty unique stuff too, but why not marvel?
ayy third comment lessgoo
Nope
Where complaining about this but funko pops exist..
And a toy company does not realest movie it get though in the drind of loses
third
I care about it
Its a toy company
One thing you consistently mention in the beginning is that “Lego’s style is getting simpler”
I do not see how that is the case, more and more figures get leg printing than they did 5 years ago, dual molded arms and legs are a thing, sets include more and smaller pieces, and more molds are being created year after year. Where did you get this idea from?
Your a toy company and plastic is not cheap you have to keep using the same face because it crues more and if you if you wast time on the toy for a movie it loses it buzz it
Generic face prints? I think every lego head ever made is pretty generic. You cant get real facial details on a flat surface. If you want real actor likenesses, buy action figures.
This is gonna sound weird but I think the faces should look much LESS accurate the actors, and instead should look exaggerated and silly, like say the old alpha team or studios sets
