  • One of the enduring debates that has yet to be defined is which decade of music reigns supreme: 80's or 90's? Our goal is to settle that debate through our reaction video channel while also delving into the music (and videos) spanning across all decades from the 1950’s through today. Our channel is all about enjoying the experience, with no second takes or edits.
From the outset, our aim was to craft something distinct and refreshingly unique. We didn't want to limit ourselves to mere reactions to music; instead, we aspire to share stories, life experiences, and extend an invitation to our family, friends, and fans to be a part of this experience.
Presently, we're publishing multiple videos each week and have recently added movie trailer reactions as well. As our channel and subscriber base continue to elevate, we aspire to produce content even more frequently.
From our family to you, thank you for your support.

Not sure if you noticed, but that was Floor from Nightwish singing at the end!
I had a chance to see Ayreon live last September and it was an amazing experience. I wouldn't compare it to a Broadway play, it was more like a regular concert but with various singers coming and going throughout each song. Also, the genre of music can change from song to song, but it's generally some sub-genre of rock/metal.
I would recommend you check out there latest live video called "The Sixth Extinction" which is from the concert I attended.

It's rare to find someone so oblivious to Floor. But maybe not if you're American!

I may be the only American that I know that is very familiar with metal from all over the world because around 2000, I began searching for alternatives to the crap that they were making as songs in the US - it only got worse since all there is now are 2 minute radio songs laced with Auto Tune - no one has to even be able to actually sing anymore

Arjen(pronounced Ar-ee-en) the j is pronouced like an i, has been around since 1980, so us in America, even though we may assume that he was influenced by many known artists or bands, he often was composing at the same time or even before them. His influences are often earlier ones like the Beatles, Black Sabbath, Deep Purple, Pink Floyd, etc.
    Composer:
Arjen Lucassen - Dutch singer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist musician and record producer best known for his long-running progressive metal/rock opera project Ayreon.
    Singers in order of appearance:
Mike Mills - Multi-instrumentalist, vocalist and main songwriter for Toehider.
Hansi Kürsch - Lead singer of Blind Guardian.
Tommy Karevik - Lead singer of Kamelot.
Maggy Luyten - One of Belgium's leading female rock singers.
Floor Jansen - Lead singer of After Forever, ReVamp & now Nightwish.
    Backup Singers:
Irene Jansen - Younger sister of Floor, usually sings backup vocals for Ayreon shows.
Lisette Van den Berg - Dutch vocalist mostly known for her work with Scarlet Stories.
Marcella Bovio - Mexican singer, violinist, songwriter, and vocal teacher, who is currently a member of the Dutch symphonic death metal band MaYaN.

You completely missed the fact that the crown jewels of European metal were on that stage. Not everything created comes from an American band, though I too love Styx, Ayreon is his own man.

... Welcome in the amazing world of Arjen A. Lucassen Aka Ayreon Universe (Ayreon, Ambeon, Star One, Supersonic Revolution, Plan Nine, Guilt Machine, Gentle Storm, Stream of Passion).... Enjoy this 100+ artist thick rabbit hole….!!!!!
The cool thing about Ayreon is that all the albums sort of tie into the same story. 'The Source' (the album which this song is from) is technically the start of the story. It's about a race of humans that give control of their planet to a computer (the 'frame) to help solve an environmental catastrophe, but the computer determines that the best course of action is to eliminate the humans. Ten humans and the robot TH-1 escape the planet on the only interstellar ship they have (the 'Starblade') along with the ships crew and head to an ocean planet. The chemist creates a drug ('The Source', aka 'Liquid Eternity') that allows them to evolve into an 'aquatic race'. The drug also makes them basically immortal and allows them to communicate telepathically. The album ends with the survivors (ten plus the ships small crew) living on their new planet ('Planet Y') in relative peace, but in the final track we learn that TH-1 is becoming a new version of the 'frame deep in the ocean. The next album in the timeline, 01011001 ('Y') tells us how machines have now taken over this new planet, and the humans have basically merged with the machines are losing their emotions and sense of time. They now call themselves 'The Forever', since they are essentially ageless drones at this point. We also learn about how they seeded a comet with DNA and sent it to Earth, where it creates human life on our planet. The Forever believe they can live through us telepathically and that they may regain their emotions by doing so. Some of The Forever believe that we need to advance more quickly, and use their telepathy to give us medicine/technology, but this results in us advancing quicker than our morality can cope with. Eventually The Forever realize humanity is doomed and has to decide if they will give them the technology to reverse their past mistakes. Somewhere in the timeline sits the album 'The Electric Castle'From a summary by Arjen: "At the end of the journey those that successfully dealt with their personal demons find out that the voice belongs to an alien named 'Forever of the Stars', a member of an alien race living in a distant galaxy. These aliens created planet Earth and its people as an experiment so they could study, and hopefully one day experience emotions, as they themselves lost feelings eons ago." That's only three albums (less than half!) but I believe those three give you a solid foundation for how the story plays out. Also, I highly recommend any of the Electric Castle Live videos; They are just so fun to watch, plus John de Lancie ('Q' from Star Trek) plays the 'Forever of the Stars' character, which Arjen said he originally based on Q.

Welcome to the magical (musical) world of Arjen Lucassen (Ayreon), one of the most interesting composers in Metal. Arjen has done a lot of fantastic projects, the main and most popular one is Ayreon where he regularly succeeds in inspiring the stars of the progressive and symphonic metal scene so that they sing for him and also perform live. This is a highlight for European Metal fans, as they can experience the Who's Who. Floor Jansen sang at the end. You have already experienced a Nightwish song with GLS. Tommy Karevik (Kamelot), Michael Mills (Toehinder) and Hansi Kürsch (Blind Guardian) also sang in this song. BG is a must see ("The Bard's song and Valhalla" Wacken live), so is EPICA with Simone Simons (perfect to start "Code of Life" AFAS live), Sabaton, Rammstein etc. You've already tackled the surface of European Metal, but you already did the cool J-Metal bands - they are fantastic, too.

CATS - CATS ❗ Har Har Har ❗Suggest you read the Wiki entry again - including the database listing of the over 100 famous musicians and singers from all over the world who consider it a privilege to contribute to this magical enterprise. Recommend you watch "The Day That The World Beaks Down" - this will give you an idea of the scope and complexity of Arjen's world. Needless to say THIS IS NOT A BAND.

I think it is always best to watch the introduction to album first: "The day that the world breaks down". Otherwise it is hard to figure out what the hell is going on. The president of the planet has signed over power to AI. AI has decided the planet is best of without humans, so it has stopped all life support for humans --> Everybody dies. TH-1 (helmet with wires) is a friendly robot that will fly the "captains" star ship with a few survivors to another planet.

I always find it funny that especially Americans believe they are the measure of all things. The song sounds like this band, so they must have had a lot of influence on it. Have you ever thought about the fact that it might be the other way around? If at all. You are not the model for everything.
