Many Arabs and other Middle Easters are white also. And they've colonized the world also. The Persians did it, the Phoenicians did it. And so did non-whites, like the Peninsular Arabs. So there is no "you colonized the world." That's a trite, mythic narrative that deserves to be busted.

Seriously this dude just exudes charm and charisma for days and he's able to cut through the typical media biasies forced narrative by channeling his fierce intellect into pointed and cutting satirical humor which can completely dismantle his opponents arguments by highlighting how absurd or ridiculous that belief is when taken to its extreme or often just the logical conclusion. He's an absolute f'n G.

He's an amazingly powerful voice and the humour makes all the difference. His two interviews with Piers Morgan alone shifted my thinking on the war, even though I've spent half of the last 6 weeks educating myself on Israel and the Palestinians.
Bassem's superpower is not comedic genius. Just like Jon Stewart, his superpower is sanity. With a dash of communication skills.

I've known about this man since his appearances on the Daily Show with Jon Stewart. Jon, a man with good taste, who recognizes brilliance in other comedians. Egypt was ridiculous to censor this man. Anyone who doesn't listen to him is afraid of being told something true in a funny and ingenious manner.
I'm not afraid of ugly realities, and he presents them in such a way that you laugh at both the immorality and absurdity of it all. And then seek to change the world for the better.

He might not be an activist, but a doctors who treats activists during a revolution is even more of an activist that the activists! Hes a legend but hes not full of himself so he doesnt want to accept what he actually is.

I watched both of his interviews glued to the screen and I was amazed at how charismatic and determined he was.
He never backed down but he did so with decency, humour and humanity.

For anyone wondering! Most of Egyptians are as funny as bassem, theyre just dont speak english.
What an incredible, under rated art-form comedy is- the most effective way to examine the world, broach difficult, painful subject matter in a way that pierces through our defenses. Seems the very best comedians, comedy are born out of struggle and tragedy. No bitterness or hate- just matter of fact, straightforward, intelligent, consistent, fair- dare I say courageous questioning. He has prompted me to do some self examination- questioning of my own biases and misconceptions. How valuable is that to anyone who yearns to be better?!
It's why artists are suppressed first in fascist states... Chaplin was on Hitler's hitlist!

Man, I would love to see his show in person. Either comedy or a lecture on Arab injustices.
As smart, funny, or charismatic as he is, he knowingly distorts the facts.
So he had to fled Egypt, because he would be imprisoned for saying his opinions . He fled to the US were he is appreciated and allowed to express is opinions, because of the freedom of speech and its democracy. And yet he fails to see the problem in the Israel-Palestinian conflict, where one side is a democracy, and the other is quiet the same as Egypt (or in case of Gaza even worse), and than he wonders why Western people find it hard to understand Arabs
