Holy Moly I'd never thought I'd live to see the day where 'being Egyptian' was embraced by white Australia on mainstream TV. When I was growing up my dad never told anyone our ethnicity for fear of judgement and (further) ostracisation and he was (unfortunately) a very misongynsistic father that wouldn't allow me to do the 'normal' things like all the other Aussie kids, but Bassem is 100% right - you cannot fear an authoritarian figure as much if you are making fun of them.
i think humour pops out off a witty person in miserable situations like art pops out of artists when emotionally over whelmed. its how they process
