Cha-Ching! “Ask and you shall receive!” Says the good book. I didn’t see any damage I think they wanted to throw you a bone. I am getting the same panniers (20% off anyway), enjoyed your chain maintenance my last 8 bikes have had driveshaft so this is something I will have to watch. Swerve Carefully!
Panniers look good on the bike. It looks like a quality install job. They look nice and light. I have seen them made from just about everything and usually are too heavy. Those looked light enough to not feel them pulling at a rest with your feet down. I had some canvas bags in the hard bags on a KLR that let me pick up everything inside the hard case and take it inside. The canvas was shaped the same so as long as I didn't overstuff it, it would go right back in and close the lid. A top box that fit my helmet was a nice addition so I didn't have to worry about the helmet being on the bike when I got back or carrying it around with me when I got to where I was going.
I've got the same pannier and they're excellent. Very sturdy and robust. You might find that that the nut that holds the lid-stop wire sits a little proud and snags things, I simply reversed mine, so the dome head nut is on the outside of the panniers. I'm looking forward to your future adventures on the Himalayan, I got a few planned myself.
Wow, pays to be cheeky...how nice of them. All instructions now are printed in a ridiculously tiny print, I too use a magnifying glass...The boxes look very good, and well made.
Anxiously awaiting where the Himalayan and these new cases will take you! I went soft panniers on my Himalayan, a better fit for my travels and they've worked well. Be safe and travel well Sandy!
I have similar on my 650 GS, plus top box. You can lock all stuff safely and it stays dry. Top box is good for leaving the helmet instead of carrying it about. I would fit a Scottoiler for the chain as well, doubles the life of chain and sprockets. I can recommend France for bike touring, brilliant place, go to Normandy for real history.
Wow, free is a pretty good price to pay for those beautiful boxes. It looks like it should do an excellent of protecting things from being damaged and keeping the contents dry. Very good score on that my friend, Now you have a very happy and very clean bike. Happy adventures!!!!
Nice job and great video. You will love hard cases. Thank you for also pointing out the dangers of high pressure washers. They really do harm motorcycle parts and drive water into places it doesn't belong....like electrical connections! My only other tip would to use never seize lube on the mounting hardware. A year or two down the road if you try to remove the racks dealing with frozen Allen head bolts is a pain on the behind. Keep up the great vids and we look forward to following your adventures. 💪🇺🇲
Nice one Sandy. Good score on the paniers I never get that lucky LOL. Also they look the part as if they were made to fit the bike. Going to have some great adventures with this set up.
Looking good Sandy, the Bike and the "Add-Ons" look great!! I recall washing my motorcycle was not easy task, and yes, one definitely needs to be careful. Looking forward to your future adventures with Chug!! :) All the Best!!
Hi Sandy, great video as always, watching you lubing your chain, I would recommend you invest in a Scottoiler, these units simply fit onto your bike and will keep your chain lubed for well over a thousand miles, I have had one fitted to my Kawasaki ZZR 1400 since new and it has covered over 30000 miles and is still on its original chain and sprockets, the scottoiler simply drips lube on the chain keeping it both lubed and clean. All the best and I wish well on your journeys. Baz 👍
SAE 80/90 gear oil is recognised as the best chain cleaner. Unlike kerosene it doesn't fling off as soon as the bike starts moving. Please check it out on RUclips
If money is an issue and a dog drier or compressor is out of the question buy a cheap powerful hair dryer, I find it works well getting rid of moisture and water from all the hard to reach areas. I bought a Boots own brand in the sale and paid about 12 quid for it.
There';s pros and cons with both drive methods. Chain with a scottoiler can last 30K or more before chain and sprockets need replacing. A cheap and easy procedure. Shaft drive requires minimal maintenance but less efficient at delivering power to the back wheel and when it breaks it's more expensive to replace. I think the chain drive wins just by a whisker:)
Not sure about the routing of the indicator extension wires. I had already seen the Karamakaze pannier rack install, and wondered why the extension leads were not routed in through the now unused indicator mounting holes, with some suitable grommets, or through holes and grommets in the mudguard. As an aircraft electrician, I like to see cables tucked out of harm's way if possible.
Nice saving there WM, as the old adage goes "If you dont ask you don't get". I feel at £400 plus they are a bit expensive for my Joanna. Maybe next year. atb
I've only ever flown once in the back of a microlight with Graham Slater at Clench common around 1995. It was a Pegasus Q or XL I think, after that all my other flights where in the front. I logged 6 hours as P.U.T but never flew solo. Just didn't have the funds back then. It was my dream to fly. If they built Peabee's back then it would have been a different story. Not flown for weeks now. Today taking things easy, just some light work. I was unwell in the night. Stomach pains a sickness.. I'm knackered!! Some tummy bug has got me
Can I ask if you have noticed any difference in the handling of the bike and if the performance has changed since you fitted the panniers. They look quite bulky and heavy but something that’s interesting me if I take the plunge and switch in the big bike for one of these. Loving your videos. Reminds me of days fine by when I lived down south. Best regards Scoots
Well done Sandy! just good sense on their part. considering the amount of views they will get with your video. Good deal for both of you, I'm happy for your gift. I know you will make excellent use of them many times over. I keep listening for you or site of you on the k3Y chat page. but nil. sure would like to get you in the log. in any even look forward to yours and chug's next adventure. 73 gud dx. happy camping/biking. de Ellis, WA1RKS
Looking really good Sandy. Some nice people out there. With that carry capacity, you are sorted for a long trip. Tell me, are you planing any cross channel travel and adventure?.
Heh, just about an hour ago I found myself wondering if there would be a Hamshack Sunday video today and lo and behold there's a Pit stop garden video soon after that 😃 Very cool and generous late Christmas I see 👍 Where is the damage you mentioned, both cases look pretty fine to me? 🤔
Bike is looking sharp. Glad the company could help you out. Thanks for sharing. Tony

Bike is looking absolut awsome with the panniers on. Great of them to give you some free luggage.

I gave up on the instructions Bry. Just watched the tutorial video:)
enjoyed it Sandy , , , plenty of room for lil Elsa in those new panniers , , , yep , , another adventure awaits : - )

They look fantastic ,and you can't argue with the price.
Magnifying glass! Lol!
The Mechanical Mule is ready!
Let the adventures begin!......and i'll see you on the road sometime soon!

Thank you for sharing your adventure!
I knew there was a bike underneath all that grime......Chug is getting ready for touring. Cheers Sandy.
Chug's looking all dressed up and ready to go. Very purposeful. I'm now looking forward to watching more of your adventures. Ride safe 👍
The Himalayan is looking Great!,,,,,
Nice one! Yes as a man in his 50s I know all about magnifying lenses 😀. Bike looks great 👍
Excellent! Chug looks like a proper World Traveller now.
Noel
Chug does but how about his owner:)
The bike is looking great Sandy, it will be good for your trip across the channel....

Interesting video Sandy. Don't worry your not alone in needing a magnifying glass.
Congrats on your new panniers . . . and wonderful to get them at no cost . . . Cheers!
The panniers will be a handy upgrade. All the best to you.
Nice one Sandy. Good score on the paniers I never get that lucky LOL. Also they look the part as if they were made to fit the bike. Going to have some great adventures with this set up.
I don't normally get lucky Dave but I thought I would ask.
The best chain cleaner is plain old kerosene. Cheap too. It gets the muck off without damaging the O-ring seals.
Nice addition, Sandy! All the best & safe riding. Rob in Switzerland.
Absolute result on the luggage Sandy. Chugs looking touring ready.
Bike is looking great Sandy... the hard panniers really look decent quality.
Happy adventuring.
No stopping you now for long journeys 👍
Looking good Sandy, the Bike and the "Add-Ons" look great!! I recall washing my motorcycle was not easy task, and yes, one definitely needs to be careful. Looking forward to your future adventures with Chug!! :) All the Best!!
Nothing better than free bro but they do look good on the bike. All the best
I don’t have a bike but found this v interesting. As you did I find just about any instruction is available on RUclips
Thats good going. 30k on the same chain and sprockets. Yes Baz I'll look into getting one
A very hand addition to Chug mate opens a lot more possibilities,
Nice one Sandy. Looking good. More adventures please. It will be nice when you can get out in some sunshine. ATB.
Supper wow mate. Awesome. Just got myself some used Lumos. ☺️
They look perfect.👍🙂

Coming along nicely.
Congrats on the panniers, most worthwhile addition to your bike. As for the chain maintenance, no thanks, I'll stick to my shaft drive :)

Handsome panniers :) Looks like a bigger swing to get your leg over, not sure I could manage it
Just the job for some camping trips on the Himalayan Sandy, look forward to those atb Dave
Hi Sandy. A Scott Oiler is a worthwhile investment for your chain, cuts down on chain maintenance and extends their useful life.
I've been curious about those. My question is...if I regularly maintain my chain already am I gaining anything by adding an auto oiler? Thanks
@@oscargeorge2740 yes, especially when riding in wet weather. I used to ride a GS550 all year round and it definitely cut the chain maintenance down.
@@johnhorner769 thank you
Perhaps a rear Hugger would help fending off road grime?
Hi, can I ask what tyres they are ? I'm using Conti TCK80's and I'm not very impressed with their off-road traction, even at lower pressures.
I'm sure you will have some great adventures. I've been bike camping before but the other half wasn't a fan after our first outing.
I'm not a good pillion or passenger either Giles. It's a good job my paramotor is a single seater
@@WiltshireMan so a bit of control freak then... Haha. So you never flew in the back of microlight then?

I use a Leaf Blower to dry the bike .

Looking really good Sandy. Some nice people out there. With that carry capacity, you are sorted for a long trip. Tell me, are you planing any cross channel travel and adventure?.
I'm hoping to visit Sweden and perhaps Norway later in the year Moose
@@WiltshireMan Brilliant. That will be epic. Good luck.
You might have to put them travel plans on hold! Anyway take care be safe!
Yes I think your right!
Chug is looking good, so where do you plan to travel, I can highly recommend Northern France, plenty of ancient places, and good camping.
Around the UK and over to Sweden initially
Great stuff young man 👍🏻 alb...Cam
you can get lots of radio gear on their now.

Nice vid Sandy. Did you re-apply some ACF50 after cleaning?
Yes I did reapply Adrian.
Nice Sandy they should serve you well. Hope your well? ATB Andy
you can know the name of the starting song?
I can't remember but I did download it from the RUclips creator studio. It is free to download and use.
Nice work, now wash the tank bags! :)
Ask, and you shall receive... ☆ Very good of them. 🇷🇴™️
CHUG 2.0!
Noraly drop the hard panniers and use soft ones.
No special cleaning products needed Sandy just good ol soapy water and a hose down, it's only good ol English mud.
Nice video sandy I would just use the compressor for drying the bike. U would be wasting money on a car/bike dryer. Dose the same job.
THREAD LOCK THREAD LOCK THREAD LOCK
Can I please call my Himalaya "Chug", too?
Yes ofcourse:) Chug on:))
not a fan of Muc Off it can leave streaks.
I am sitting here drinking coffee watching how to ride a motorcycle need to get a life I
“One down , four up, ..... keeping rhythm with the seasons , as they turn to years. One needs luggage. The road is long.
Just the colostomy bag to fit now and you're away!
And I will need a holster for the walking stick
I wanna send you something for nothing too. PM me an address to ship to when you get a chance.
Muck Off not good pal it contains salts and will make your bike rust try silkolene products zero salt 👍🏽
Have you seen Stuart Fillinghams review on Muck off products? He said what you said, then contacted the firm and got to the bottom of things.
Wiltshire Man yes all about the price of production it’s cheaper to use salts
