      It was a very difficult business decision. I just couldn't maintain both anymore, and ultimately it came down to career vs. hobby. Having said that, my guitar membership program is still active, and there’s plenty of great Skynyrd content in there! Here’s the link if interested: saguto.golf/p/tom-s-rockin-guitar-membership

    I see that a lot of golfers are improving by 10+ strokes, 100’s to 90’s to 80’s, but the goal of shooting near par or better will require practice time on the short game, pitching, chipping, bunker, & putting. ⛳️ After changing this year to the S&T, I can spend more time on my short game practice without the concern of losing my long game edge! 👍

    • @SagutoGolf
      @SagutoGolf  3 года назад +9

      You're spot on with that comment, Thomas! A reliable short game is an absolute necessity if we expect to be consistently in the 70's (or below)!!
      I'm very glad to know that you've got your S&T swing dialed in and are reaping its low-maintenance benefits so you can focus on the finer aspects of the scoring game. Well done!!

    Your golf lessons is a diamond, I was so stubborn about my golf swing but when I tried your method yesterday, just after 10 swings, I AM NOW A BELIEVER of what you teach hear. I never hit my irons and driver more crispier than before. I just need to keep on practicing then bring this new found technique to the golf course. Thank you so much Tom, the golf gods sent you to redeem the golf swings for the weekend warrior like me. More power and more followers.

      Seriously, I sincerely appreciate your kind words and I am very glad to learn that my channel's instruction has benefited your game to such an extent!! You've obviously done an excellent job digesting the lesson content, incorporating it into your swing, and taking ownership of it!!

    Took your advice and tips on hitting my irons today and played awesomely. My iron shots were straight and long.... now I have to adjust distances I normally hit a club, because the ball is going so much further. You made golf fun for me..... although my partner is a disaster and refuses to take any advice from anyone. Thanks again

    @Sagutogolf I love your tips since I’ve started watching your videos I strip the ball, you have made golf so easy. I finally got my hole in one!! N been super close a few times on getting another one!! What is so awsome is if my brother hits a 7 iron I hit my 8 iron same distance as his 7 lol. He hates it that I out drive him and hit beautiful draws with every club. I now cannot hit a slice r a fade it’s super laser straight r a beautiful draw all thanks to you. People would always invite to golf because it was a easy win and I made them look great but now no one calls me to play golf with them because I literally beat them by 8-10 strokes. My best score to date is 9 birdies 1 eagle rest pars no bogeys -11 under in one round!!! I was on fire that day!! My average is -4 to -6 under per round. It’s a small course par 62. I just wanted to thank you again you made golf super easy for me I now have a birdie putt on every hole!! And to think I was gonna stop playing for good and I came across your channel and it’s been a crazy journey!! Thank you 🙏

    I started golfing a few years ago. When I was fresh and my mind uncluttered I did alright for a beginner. This season, as I tried to improve, everything went south. My mind became a second-rate storage facility, clogged with detritus. On my league nights every shot was a repellant embarrassment. I could barely hit the ball, mining deep into the Earth's mantle, scalping the unfortunate ball, sending shots wildly to the right into the welcoming arms of the deep forest. I spent hours and hours hitting balls, watching videos, torturing my mind and body with complex equations and physics experiments. I got worse. I discovered Tom's videos a couple of weeks ago. This particular video was served up to me this morning like a stack of delicious hotcakes covered in butter and that fancy boutique maple syrup that costs like 12 bucks a bottle. I watched it and went out into the yard to put it's practical simplicity to the test. Immediate results. Zen. Satori. The ball went up and out and on target exactly as prescribed. Endorphins flooded my brain and my life achieved meaning and value. Thank you Tom, more than you can know.

    • @SagutoGolf
      @SagutoGolf  3 года назад +4

      "Because life is too short to play bad golf....." I knew I coined that phrase for a reason, and you - @Asphalt_Milkshake - have just validated it.... 😂😂
      Now, go forth uncluttered and endorphin-loaded, your new Stack (of delicious hotcakes) and Tilt (as in tilted bottle of fancy boutique maple syrup drizzling over the aforementioned) serving of ball striking bliss abundantly filling your void with the meaning and value you craved whilst you ride that overinflated league handicap until it can't be rode no more.....
      Well done, and thanks for the most entertaining post!!

    I am a subscriber to Saguto Gof (and I am not his PR agent), and let me tell you that my game has improved by leaps and bounds just following Tom’s simple instructions.
    Earlier my mind was cluttered with a zillion swing thoughts but now all I tell myself is keep the chest on the ball and weight on the left leg, tilt-and-turn. Simple. Extension happens automatically.
    It’s simple and easy. None of the technical jargon like “shallowing” or “weight transfer” which would drive me nuts. Makes golf so much fun and relaxing.
    Thanks Tom. You have got joy back in my golf game.

    I have quit golf twice from being a 9 h'cper - I am now a transitioning hacker or dysfunctional hooking flipper hitting 100. In only 3 weeks of S&T my ball striking is so much better and that is thanks to you Tom. My right hand still refused to stop a flip so now I imagine the "right hand has to stay under the left until impact" - this is feel not real. The S&T swing is so easy after your repetitious training that this allows that single swing thought - your best vids for me were Palmer - point the shoulder / defining 3 circles (head shoulders and arc) / and the 2 vids where u go through the swing throwing away all old things (one was banging the bin lids together lol). TYVM. Keep up the zaniness :D

    this is where i was mistaken with the "tilt" tom i thought the tilt was
    the forward to address the ball, now it ALLmakes sense and it works
    so damn well, my only initial move is the left knee forward `loaded` tom,
    that one move sets off the chain reaction ! hips rotate open as you turn,
    allowing more turn in the shoulders,,then your flat wrist,then how you
    initiate the downswing `pull` in your left shoulder towards the target, !!
    its pure brilliance ! it repeats so easily thankyou for the missing link
    see ,,i do listen between tucks of laughter, i owe you tom saguto 😇👍

    • @SagutoGolf
      @SagutoGolf  2 года назад +1

      I'm glad this connected the dots for you, William!!
      The forward angling of the upper body towards the ground at address establishes our relationship with the ball. The side tilt motion - combined with turning and extending - is what enables us to preserve that relationship throughout the swing. So you were not really wrong in many respects; you just needed the additional clarification. And now - based on your description - you've got it!!!
      Well done and well stated!!

    Member of SagutoGolf - his online course has eliminated my slice. This tilt, turn and extend is golden! It took me a while to get the extension part (still working on it) but it's the key to easy distance. If you can do all three consistently, this game becomes very enjoyable! Thank you, Tom.

      Extension is typically the more difficult of the Big Three motions to ingrain, but once we get that down the swing essentially goes into autopilot and - like you say - compression and distance become seemingly effortless!

      We start with the setup in which both feet are flared out approximately 20 degrees, and the knees similarly angled outward. This orientation provides for an unrestricted 45 degrees of tilted hip turn, at which point we only need to add another 45 degrees of shoulder turn for a full 90 degrees. The result is a centered, stress-free, flowing motion back and through, and a very body-friendly, consistent, powerful swing.

      And so we here in the "padded cell" can now proclaim.... Welcome to "the dark side", Russ, where the spoils of "conventional" instruction - chronic inconsistency, physical pain, and endless frustration - yield to the fruits of effortless and body-friendly enjoyment of this great game for a lifetime. 😆
      I'm very glad to have you on board!!
      Just a little bit of preliminary advice as you get started:
      1) It is crucial to take sufficient time to master the fundamental components of the first couple of chapters! I cannot emphasize this enough, as frustrations predominantly occur when a student jumps ahead in the curriculum without properly dedicating himself/herself to the foundational base upon which our consistently repeatable, powerful, low maintenance swing must be built. Please have a look at this introductory video if you have not already done so: saguto.golf/courses/1166020/lectures/30347767.
      2) One of the many great things about this swing is that you can achieve solid ball striking even at the most basic levels. This is why I oftentimes will suggest that students park themselves on Chapter 2 of the Golf Swing Simplified course for an extended period of time after locking down Chapter 1's foundational elements. Chapter 2 reinforces the body motions and the weight-forward component, and it culminates with what I call "The Best Golf Swing Practice Drill of All Time". Work yourself sequentially and gradually through the chapter, and then commit yourself to that drill in Lesson 2.8. Learn it. Practice it. Master it. You can even use the somewhat abbreviated swing it provides on the course and play quite well with it! Once you've got that down, you will be well prepared to move forward in the curriculum and well on your way towards taking ownership of YOUR swing!
      3) Also, as you progress always keep in mind the V1 Swing Video Analysis service, an effective and inexpensive service that I highly recommend to everyone in the school. I liken it to bringing your swing into the shop for a tune-up or minor repair. Scheduling one on a quarterly basis for preventive maintenance will do wonders for keeping things humming along nicely, and it's also a great tool for pinpointing and resolving any issues that arise. The process involves downloading the free V1 app and then submitting two videos to me through the app - one down-the-line (captured from your stance line, not the target line) and the other face-on. You'll find more information about the V1 Analysis halfway down this page on the Saguto.Golf site.
      4) Finally, please migrate over to the new “Office Hours” forum - which is included in your online school membership - and begin engaging with other golfers in the SagutoGolf community. It only takes a minute or two to enroll - just go to your “My Courses” screen and you’ll see a link to get started. Once signed in you’ll be able to access and participate in the great dialogue that we are having on a variety of topics. You can start discussions, contribute to existing threads, post specific swing questions, make some new friends, and just share in the common bond of golfers from around the world seeking to improve their games and help others to do the same. I monitor the forum regularly and am a frequent participant in the discussions, including assisting with swing-related inquiries. I really think you’ll enjoy it!
      I look forward to hearing from you regularly in the Forum and to assisting you in building a consistent, low maintenance, powerful, body-friendly swing that will bring your enjoyment of this great game to a new level!
      Thanks for your message and have fun out there!!

    All great tips another point that has really helped me and added a boat load of speeds learning the internal rotation of the trail knee and using the ground on the front leg and extending up and it magically returns the clubface to impact position with a great amount of speed. You can control clubface / low point/ and swingpath

    Next day went golfing with higher hopes than normal , I was not thinking tilt and just the expand and shoulder turn , I've never played so badly lol other than driver and putting it was bad
    His teaching works well but you need all there for sure lol and the tilt is by far the #1 tool in this swing

      Hi Eli,
      There has been quite a bit of dialogue in the Members' Forum of my online school on the topic of how to transport "Ranger Rick" to the golf course. We all experience that! All I can tell you is that it is part of the process, and if your practice mode is delivering consistently solid results then it's just a function of time in terms of when/how that will translate itself to the course. As confidence in your swing grows you should find more and more that you are playing "golf" instead of "golf swing" on the course, at which point your mechanical thoughts will be reduced to one or two at the most, and you will be nearly entirely focused on your target and not your swing. An excellent book that may help you with this is "Fearless Golf: Conquering the Mental Game" by Dr. Gio Valiante.
      Beyond that, I'd love to see you in the online school, where so many folks across the globe are now playing the best golf of their lives as a result. As an enrolled member you'll enjoy:

      Hi Howard,
      I'm very glad to learn of your improvement through my instruction content.
      I do my best to convey different "feels" or thoughts throughout the swing wherever possible because we're all unique physiologically and psychologically, and something that resonates effectively with me may not necessarily work for you. Furthermore, a feel or thought that performs well for you this week may run its course or get overdone and not play out so nicely next week, so it's good to have alternates to call upon if needed. The key takeaway here is that no matter the variety of suggested feels/thoughts offered for a particular element of the swing, they are all directed at getting different golfers to achieve the same desired motion or position. (It's like a multiple choice test with no wrong answer!)
      Beyond that, it is important to understand that the videos, lessons, and drills on this free channel - while fully aligned with the swing method I teach - address a variety of topics, issues, feels, and/or common flaws/fixes from one episode to the next. They are certainly not intended to be taken as a sequential learning platform like the structured curriculum of my online school, which I strongly recommend to anyone who truly wishes to get on the proper path towards owning this swing. For just $10 US/month or $99 US/year you'll have unlimited access to a comprehensive members-only system for the full swing, the short game, and much more. The school's intuitive course layout greatly simplifies the entire process through succinct, step-by-step videos, and I'm regularly adding new content. There's even a members' forum where you can ask me specific swing-related questions, interact with others in the SagutoGolf community, and suggest new content ideas, plus you'll also have access to all exclusive RUclips paid channel members-only content at no additional charge. Hi George - I'm glad to know that you are benefiting from my instruction!
      I am not consciously "holding the club off" - I'm simply not flipping or rolling the hands through impact, which unless perfectly timed leads to inconsistency and generally poor results. I found my foot and leg work was bad. Now I can do what you just talked about by controlling my hips, leg and knee bend. The body set up is like a bent index finger profile and you want to keep that profile shape from down the line through the swing. You do not want the bent finger turning and looking at you or rotating away on impact.
    Feel free to use the Mr Index or Pinky example

      Yes - and since our bodies are not designed to turn when the spine is in flexion, "extension" is the critical component necessary to free us up so we can keep our relationship to the ball intact.

    Great video as usual Tom! I watched it in slow motion and it looks to me that you are using the Sit Down move to start the downswing. @SagutoGolf  3 года назад +1

      I'm glad you enjoyed it, Rajan!
      There's some detail in the Downswing chapter of the S&T book regarding the move you are referring to. As you observe, the trail knee regains its flex early in the downswing and then extends through impact, but this is a result of the properly sequenced motions and not a conscious "sit down" move
      Cheers!

    Great video! I’m a member of your site, wondering how often you post new videos like this on the member site? The one small comment, you made about getting back into flexion on the downswing after tilting turning and extending on the backswing while keeping the upper arm against the body makes it much easier to get through the ball, I think that was the missing link for me. I was trying to tilt, turn and extend the opposite way on the downswing and I felt like I was throwing the club head a little bit, but I know we have to tilt, turn and extend at the same time to keep our head still, so how exactly does the idea of getting back into flex on the downswing fit in? I guess I just want to clarify that when you tilt and turn on the downswing it accomplishes getting back into flexion, correct?

    Tom, I am a member of your golf school but I have one important question. Is your golf swing a result of having the body motion produce the arm movement or visa versa? I have to believe it is the former. Also, I have found that I need very relaxed arms with very little tension in the wrists to produce great hinging at the top and through impact. What do you think?

The process involves downloading the free V1 app and then submitting two videos to me through the app - one down-the-line (captured from your stance line, not the target line) and the other face-on. You'll find more information about the V1 Analysis halfway down this page on the Saguto.Golf site: saguto.golf/p/sagutogolf

    Hi Tom, is it fair to say that the hips going towards the target at the start of the downswing could be described as a slide or am I incorrect in thinking this? Many Thanks, great video!

    • @SagutoGolf
      @SagutoGolf  3 года назад

      Hi Patrick,
      Oftentimes when golfers are hitting everything well except for the longer clubs it can be attributed to one of the following:
      1) They don't start with - or maintain - enough weight on the front side. In general with the longer clubs we should add a little more front weight load at address - more like 60/40 instead of the 55/45 prescribed for the other clubs. This forward weight should gradually increase to the top of the backswing (70/30) and build further on the downswing - approximately 80/20 halfway down, 90/10 impact, and 95/5 finish.
      2) Their hips are not continuing their lateral slide through impact. This is common with the longer clubs as the wider stance means that the hips have a greater distance to travel. If the hips stop moving laterally towards the target on the downswing then their rotation takes over, changing the low point and rerouting the club. This can produce a variety of undesirable results including fat and thin contact, topped shots and popups, straight pulls, and “banana” slices.
      3) They are not allowing the length of the club to dictate the backswing path and are getting too steep as a result. The shaft length of the longer clubs encourages more of an around the body backswing as established by the shaft plane at address. It may "feel" flat as you take it back along the shaft plane for the first few feet, but as long as you maintain the "weight forward, shoulder down, and hands in" components while allowing the club to work around you, it should put you in the proper position at the top so you can attack the ball from the inside.

      Sure, Abe. I do my best to convey multiple “feels” or thoughts throughout the swing wherever possible. We're all different physiologically and psychologically, and something that resonates effectively with one golfer may not necessarily work for another. However, no matter the variety of suggested feels/thoughts offered for a particular element of the swing, they are all directed at getting different golfers to achieve the desired positions, motions, and results. This is why I routinely recommend the online school to anyone who truly wishes to experience the joys of consistent, powerful, body-friendly ball striking bliss. It makes for a far more efficient, superior, and enjoyable learning process rather than haphazardly trying to piece things together through these channel videos that jump around randomly from topic to topic. The sequential lessons and drills provide the guidelines and set the boundaries, while allowing ample leeway for each individual golfer to infuse and exercise their own uniqueness.

    Any chance you could explain the down swing? Are you letting the club drop downward into the slot using only gravity, or are you applying force thereby thrusting the club downward? Not asking about the throwing the club to target, I’m asking about the very first downward drop. I know you’ve talked about a gravity drop but that doesn’t seem to produce all that much “snap or catapult”.

    • @SagutoGolf
      @SagutoGolf  Год назад +1

      While you do have some leeway, Roger, in general once my students and members show some level of proficiency with the swing I suggest that they migrate to a stock ball position that is in the middle of the stance for short irons, two balls inside the lead heel for middle irons, and creeping more forward for the longer clubs - the farthest forward being even with the inside of the lead heel for the driver (with the stance width increasing as we move from shorter to longer clubs). From there they can make incremental tweaks to see how different positions affect impact quality and shot shape. For example, my personal preference for the shorter clubs tends to be a position that is slightly forward of prescribed.

      The Stack & Tilt swing is a very body-friendly method. For me this is supported by my personal experience as a player and furthered by the fact that the majority of my students are in their 60's, 70's, and 80's - i.e.: a smorgasbord of chronic ailments, physical limitations, back/shoulder/knee/hip pain, and joint replacements - and they are overwhelmingly elated to experience the dramatic pain-free game improvement, seemingly effortless power, and resulting enjoyment that this swing affords them.

Here's a link if you would like to know more about it - saguto.golf - and here's a link to my free mini-course “The Top 3 Things You Need to Be a Great Ball Striker” if you’re interested in checking it out: go.saguto.golf/
