I always appreciate it when games include a colorblind option. It's probably not that difficult to add in, but it's still a nice gesture that too few developers include in their games. Some games (usually RTS or other strategy-focused games) can be downright unplayable due to their heavy use of reds and greens for indicating various things.
You indicate you plan on reporting as a bug the lack of shift+click to move from stash to inventory, but perhaps it's designed that way because it doesn't allow you to designate which party member receives the item. You don't need designation from inv to stash, but you do need from stash to the specific party member.
Thank you for making this video. I'm pretty new to these types of games and a lot of the stats and statistics were confusing. You managed to help me make sense of quite a few things ;)
as a person who backed the game early and then purposely stopped following it to stay sane, I gotta say the game looks beautiful. That background is amazing
Thanks for the insight, but your calculations, though simple, are still hard to follow without any shown examples. If you write the calculations on your videos it would be helpful.
Just a tip , when you talk about math I'd be good to see an annotation with the formula show up on the screen. Would be good for us more visual people.
You said you missed some matches of the cricket world cup. Well, as an Indian, we're gonna be playing you guys tomorrow in the second semi-final and tomorrow is also the release of Pillars. What a day!
Oh god this video is an hour long? Thats an hour I could spend playing the game and figuring it out myself! I want to watch these videos, they seem like they're full of great info but that's a whole hour and I don't have time! Thanks anyways.
I actually need to chapter this video, the other two you can just skip to the bits you want to know. Haven't had time to go over this one and mark it yet.
Show Unqualified Interactions: If activated, it will show you the dialogue and event options you don't qualify for. Show Qualifiers: If activated, it will show you that you qualified for a specific dialogue or event option and what it was. Disable both and you won't know what you need to have to qualify for an option you cannot see (because you cannot qualify) and it won't inform you what options are unlocked by qualifying. It makes the most sense to disable both from an RP perspective, to prevent metagaming and -knowledge.
Yeah I figured that out after I watched the video again, I herp derped and didn't put 2 and 2 together that the Qualifier was the value of the stat needed.
Thank you very much for the videos m8! They are great and informative. I so wish that this game achieve the status of BG and IWD successor and by what I saw so far it seems to be true! I hope Obsidian will continue to support the game with the expansions and continue to work on toolset so community would be able to create great games out of their stories like community did for NWN. I subscribed to your channel and I am looking forward to your next videos.
Sensuki: (1) Your dedication to the development of this game has been amazing; (2) these video guides provide the best explanations available; and (3) could you tell me more about the trap spotting mechanic? I want to build a rogue player char that never misses a trap and can unlock everything, and I'm wondering whether that is controlled by the Mechanics skill or Perception. I'm also wondering whether you recommend going for a +3 bonus to Mechanics at character creation or whether you think it's beneficial to split between +2 Mechanics and +2 Stealth.
Cheers. It's controlled by Mechanics. Max Mechanics if you want to be able to find and disable all traps. You need to be in stealth mode to find traps and hidden items. I think higher mechanics is probably better.
Enverxis careful with the double click, kotaku noticed a major bug wherein double-clicking erased all racial stats and bonuses. however, obsidian was planning to release a patch to fix that ASAP
Tx for another great video-imo this one is better than the first beginner guide video. A lot of good info. Question- Does the release version of the game has some changes regarding the weapons?
Please please please please please tell me there are still hotkeys in this game. I play BG2 almost entirely with a keyboard and I'm at 5:05 in the video right now and you did not mention if characters in a party can be selected with 1,2,3,4,5,6 through to 0 with the additional selection options. Please for the love of god some tell me if there are still at least the same hotkey options as BG and BG2.
Yeah I did forget to mention the 1,2,3,4,5,6 etc hotkeys - they are in. And yes there's hotkeys. I'll be showing those off in my next vid. There's a couple that are (annoyingly) different. I'm hoping to mod them back in.
Enverxis Phew, that's good to hear. I'm very particular about having lots of access to how to input commands and if I could I'd play this game without a mouse/with a gamepad.
First! Yay! (j/k ;) ) Anyway, I had a question - why do the two characters sometimes cross each other's paths when you command them to go somewhere, and other times they each walk in a straight line towards their destination?
Actually, when I looked again, I didn't see many examples of what I mean in your video. I saw one here though: watch?v=Aql4cyi3UC4 At 4:54 he sends his character and Calisca towards a chest. Each of them reaches his position, but they swap places on the way. I'm not sure if this happens/doesn't happen depending on whether you click with the left or right mouse button...?
I am not sure. I will be taking a bit of a break after release because I want to enjoy the game without spoilers from the internet. I will probably come back and do some character build guides, how to beat difficult encounters and find exploits and stuff. Dunno about a Let's Play at this stage.
Hey Sensuki, thanks for this very good guide, keep up the good work. I have a question though, why do you think that the blunderbuss is a good weapon for a Cipher? I was under the impression that the hunting bow would be better for a Cipher since a faster weapon would take advantage of the +2 focus of the draining whip talent more often. Thanks in advance.
Enverxis Yeah this is awesome! Just tested this on the beta and I was gaining like 20-30 focus for one shot without any kind of specialization on blunderbuss, this just makes me think that a 4 blunderbuss Cipher would make an amazing build!
Thankx for the video learned alot from you. But gotta ask why did they make ability like might affect wizard DPS? i find it very immersion breaking....almost diablo 3 like style. It's good in Action RPGs but not in this. Again thanx for the good work.
so i have just started this game( about 2 hours in atm) and have rolled a wizard (fond memories of baldurs gate and neverwinter nights having a lvl 20 wizard and pwning everything) but have been reading that its one of the worst classes in the game? opinions plz ppl.....do i re-roll before i get too far in? would like to hear from someone with a high lvl wizard if possible
I keep accidentally attacking my own party members. I can't quite understand whats going on, I try to double click portrait>>attack enemy, dblclk next character portrait>>attack enemy, then the characters just bash each other when I unpause.
Same thing happens when I single click. Even though I'm selecting the character, it thinks I'm trying to target them. If I tell my hero to attack a wolf and then select aloth to attack a different wolf, my main will fire an arrow right into his temple when I unpause
Scott Lufkin They tuned it to feel right. It just so happens that 66% feels the best for a slo motion mode. Half speed is more easily relatable to players than 66% speed.
Havelok Needkey I get that it would be strange to call it 66% mode of course, but it USED to be called Slow Mode, which was at least accurate. They renamed it for the release version to Half Speed, which I took to mean they tweaked it down to ... uh.. half speed. If they did not change the 66% it was at, why rename it to half speed? Are people going to be unable to understand that Slow Mode means things go slower? I'd like to believe that's not true. I'd further assume anyone whom does not understand Slow Mode would also just be confounded by Half Speed.
Scott Lufkin It isn't a big deal. They just wanted it to be more "specific" as half speed at least gives a concept. Where as if they just say "slow speed" there will be the one guy out there who goes "well what's slow speed? what does that mean? how slow is slow speed?" 66% is close enough to half and saying half speed is alot better than calling the button "66% Speed".
" I'm out of spell castings!" *puts grimoire to inventory, wields the sword* " bard play something inspiring!" "yes, my lady. I will sing Ode of heroes for you"
I'm really trying to understand the material, but I have to be blunt about this. You talk far too fast in your explanations and it's as though you are trying to get in as much information as quickly as you can and it causes the viewer to get lost. I absolutely love how you present the information, but you really do need to slow it down a tad.
dude you dont have to explain literally every little thing you see. Other people can read too if they are playing the game. You dont need to explain things word for word thats already shown in the UI
I always appreciate it when games include a colorblind option. It's probably not that difficult to add in, but it's still a nice gesture that too few developers include in their games. Those were my thoughts as well after I watched the video, it's probably fine as it is.
Disappointing lack of bugs for an Obsidian games...
Your vids are tiding me over until Thursday man! Subbed.
Very exhaustive guide. I really enjoyed it. Please keep them coming
Thank you for making this video. I'm pretty new to these types of games and a lot of the stats and statistics were confusing. You managed to help me make sense of quite a few things ;)

Thanks for this one as well :> Really appreciate the effort!
Thanks for avoiding spoilers
Great stuff man! Very grateful for this.
Thank you, when I started this game I realized I will need to go back to school for while to figure out what is going on
Just a tip , when you talk about math I'd be good to see an annotation with the formula show up on the screen. Would be good for us more visual people.
Oh, and thanks for doing this Sensuki :) Good work!
I need to chapter this video, and do stuff like that yeah. I just haven't had time.
Enverxis
It's all good :) I found the info about the Estoc interesting, looking forward to messing around with it.
You said you missed some matches of the cricket world cup. Well, as an Indian, we're gonna be playing you guys tomorrow in the second semi-final and tomorrow is also the release of Pillars. What a day!
Should be a good game, too.
Haven't had time to go over this one and mark it yet.
play the video on x2 speed.
Show Unqualified Interactions: If activated, it will show you the dialogue and event options you don't qualify for.
Show Qualifiers: If activated, it will show you that you qualified for a specific dialogue or event option and what it was.

Pretty ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ video, Sensuki.
Great job on the guides. Thanks!

Sensuki, you found out that you can dbl click to equip an item from the stash when you were checking the robe stats and then forgot it again at 36:40
I know you can double click to equip, but I don't like double click to equip because it's annoying.
Enverxis careful with the double click, kotaku noticed a major bug wherein double-clicking erased all racial stats and bonuses. however, obsidian was planning to release a patch to fix that ASAP

Do you just "know" all potion/enchant recipes or do you have to find and purchase them as the game progresses? If so, are there rare recipes?
I think you just know them all. They may have been going to do 'find recipes' but I think they went back on the idea.
First! Yay! (j/k ;) ) Anyway, I had a question - why do the two characters sometimes cross each other's paths when you command them to go somewhere, and other times they each walk in a straight line towards their destination?
They allow characters to clip through eachother out of combat. Personally I really don't like it, and will be modding it out.
Had to laugh 'cause I remembered the video you did on the exploit. The one in the inn xD
Idk what resolution you use. My game UI is too small at 1440p.
Sensuki, will you keep doing videos about Pillars of Eternity? Is a Let's Play something you plan to do later?
I am not sure. I will be taking a bit of a break after release because I want to enjoy the game without spoilers from the internet. I will probably come back and do some character build guides, how to beat difficult encounters and find exploits and stuff. Dunno about a Let's Play at this stage.
I will also be showcasing the IE mod, shortly after the game comes out.
Enverxis Great, I'll surely watch :)
Why are there 10 levels written in the grimoire when you can only use six?
Padding for the expansion(s) I think.
Blunderbuss fires 8 projectiles man. That's 8 x 2 on top of what you got from damage ;)
Enverxis
ohh ok cool, didn't know that each projectile was calculated individually, thanks for the quick response ;)
Enverxis
Yeah this is awesome! Just tested this on the beta and I was gaining like 20-30 focus for one shot without any kind of specialization on blunderbuss, this just makes me think that a 4 blunderbuss Cipher would make an amazing build!
Are there unique "named" version of the weapons?
Does stealing have any negative impact? Is there any check done at any point? Or is it like "if you can take it, then take it?"
Yeah, you lose reputation with the faction you stole from.
Enverxis Good to know, especially if playing on expert mode where you might never see that in game. ^^
Thankx for the video learned alot from you.
But gotta ask why did they make ability like might affect wizard DPS?
i find it very immersion breaking....almost diablo 3 like style.
It's good in Action RPGs but not in this.

New Zealand or Australia? Who're you rooting for?
Straya, but I think NZ might win.
I keep accidentally attacking my own party members. I can't quite understand whats going on, I try to double click portrait>>attack enemy, dblclk next character portrait>>attack enemy, then the characters just bash each other when I unpause.
Kerrigan M You dont double click, it's just single click.
Same thing happens when I single click. Even though I'm selecting the character, it thinks I'm trying to target them. If I tell my hero to attack a wolf and then select aloth to attack a different wolf, my main will fire an arrow right into his temple when I unpause
"Half Speed" is 66%? Why did they rename slow mode to half-speed if it's still 66%? Seems odd.

Guys is there a benefit for having a smaller party?
Can you zoom in and out?
Liam Weaver yes :D
aaahm, aaahm, aaaaahm ..
I'm really trying to understand the material, but I have to be blunt about this.
