I didn't start to get a handle on my money until my late 40s. If you're just starting out in life, get right with money. Your financial literacy and health will impact your life every day, every month, every year.

"Spend where you see value, save where you don't" is an AMAZING tip! I used to be so restrictive and not buy anything I wanted before getting frustrated and going on shopping binges. Now I have a more balanced budget where I am able to spend money on the things that really matter to me (like going to the movie theatre and buying concert tickets) and saving money elsewhere (eating most meals at home, buying most clothes used, using the library for free books, etc)

Real solid advice given here. I wish I had known this kind of stuff when I was younger.

I've turned 65+, use CASH not credit (except for dire, unexpected emergencies). If you use credit for online purchases, be sure you charge only what you can pay off that month.
SAVE FOR YOUR RETIREMENT. START IMMEDIATELY! You may be 30 now, but the years will pass much more quickly than you realize.
Whatever you do, do not buy a home you cannot afford on your existing salary. Do not count on future earnings. Recessions are real. Pandemics are real. Keep at least 6 months living expenses in readily available cash.

Solid advice here. I've stopped using my cc and my ability to spend on non-essentials with just my cash has dropped considerably. Eye opening.

Love this video, I would like a longer, more specific video on that topic, going through it step by step and where I can actually start to save money.

I'm a 46 year-old Gen X woman. I serve on the collegiate advisory board of my sorority. This advice is on target for young women. Most of my Sisters do not understand what and how to budget.

on "designer" items - really stupid purchase, they are 5 to 10 times more expensive than they should be, there are great quality items whose manufacturers haven't spent billions on advertising/promotion.
