"Fogerty is quoted as saying the song was actually written for his then three-year-old son, Josh. He’s also said that the reference to the parade passing by the door was inspired by the Dr. Seuss story, "And to Think That I Saw It on Mulberry Street."
I was about to write this very thing, thanks K. Perry. The song makes much more sense with this info.
@@tennesseehusky Your very welcome :) and yes it makes much more sense knowing the background to the lyrics. :)
Yes it was
.. awesome band ...Timeless..CCR can be heard at any time anywhere in any occasion.
The song's lyrics, filled with colorful, dream-like imagery, lead some to believe that it is about drugs. According to the drug theory, the "flying spoon" was a reference to a cocaine or heroin spoon, and the crazy animal images were an acid trip. Fogerty, however, has stated in interviews that the song was actually written for his then three-year-old son, Josh. Fogerty has also said that the reference to a parade passing by was inspired by the Dr. Seuss book And to Think That I Saw It on Mulberry Street.
From San Francisco, ccr for their love of country blues and elvis type of hillbilly rock they loved growing up. Creedence- like a religious reverence, Clearwater- describes the type of music, and revival- means they are bringing it back. Thanks for the reactions.
He grew up in eastbay across from Berkeley. At that time alot ok okies and southern folk had come to California cause depression and then WW2 working the shipyards.
Another great CCR song. The late 60's and the entire 70's were so great for music.
"Bother me tomorrow, today I'll bear no sorrow." Is legendary by itself. ✔
Hey Shout out! Roll Tide! CCR is from Cali, but you couldn't tell it by how well they play Southern Rock. They are the real deal. Helped define the genre along with Lynyrd Skynyrd. Awesome band.
Looks like they were just having fun playing and hanging out :) So much talent! CCR is amazing
Anytime I hear CCR I think of my eldest brother and it makes me smile 😊
The radio played this song non-stop when I was growing up.
Asia & BJ, their "Proud Mary" and "I Heard It Thru The Grapevine"(11 min cover) are next for you!! edit - back then songs had to be short(about 3 mins or less) or they wouldn't get played on the radio! ☹
They'd be played, just not as often. Your statement is more true of the 60s, than the 70s.
@@charleserickson8119 Agree !!! The statement is 100% true of AM radio in the 60's but then came FM Radio in the 70's and they started playing all the LONG songs....somewhat as a rebellious act towards AM radio's attitude. We're no longer comparing apples to apples.
I believe they are from San Francisco, CA.
Other reactors have said that this was based on the imagination of the song writer's 3 year old son. He had just gotten off the road, and his son was telling him about all his (imaginary) friends in the back yard. As only a 3 year old can.
yes, they are from the San Fransciso bay area.
Wholesome lyrics! Where did they go! great reaction!
Takes me back to when I lived in Maryland. It is amazing how a song can transport you to a time.
Where from in Maryland? (I'm from there too)
@@beandean23 I am an Army brat and lived in Aberdeen (Aberdeen Proving Ground) in the last sixties, early seventies. We settled at Redstone Arsenal in Huntsville Alabama (where Dad retired). I have lived here since 1974.
@@beandean23 late not last
@@sealdrup ...From the Chevy Chase / Bethesda area. Now in southern Maryland., Charles County.
“I Put A Spell On You” CCR
A must!!!
I read a long time ago he wrote this for his son. His loved it every time he sang the song!! F.O.E ♥️♥️
All sorts of fun lyrics in this song. My favorite though........"Bother me tomorrow, today I've got no sorrow." Love those days, and certainly wish I had more of them.
"Today I'll buy no sorrows"
Today I found no sorrows👍✌️
This is a great song and takes me back to the 60's & 70's. CCR was a great band with alot of good, fun music
This gem and green river
my favorite CCR tunes
John Fogerty is a great singer/songwriter and guitarist!!
Takes you to a nice place.😊
Everyone used to say that The Beach Boys were America’s answer to the Beatles..
CCR were huge for about 5years and eclipsed the surfers.
Saw them live way way back in 1971 and everyone knew every song and were on their feet having a good time throughout.
When it's too short, that's what the replay button is for.
Growing up I remember this as the Motel 6 song "We'll leave the light on for you."
CCR has always been a musical, security blanket for me. They are all from California...but loved the southern land. Loved this band since I was a little kid.
My understanding was, as others have mentioned, it was inspired by one of his kids playing in the backyard.
CCR is from California, but they sound like they are from the bayou.
John fogerty grew up in lodi, ca.
Absolutely LOVE me some CCR.
CCR is from El Cerrito, California, North of Oakland
CCR are from Berkeley,California.
The son was about his son and there was a carnival or circus they could see from the back porch and the wonder in his son's eyes.
The words are for the his son all the images and like a fairy tale. cool song one of the best.
"I put a spell on you", is great. They are a wonderful band. Great hits.
They have great music hope you play all of them worth listening
One of the best music videos on RUclips. The other one is Ram Jam's "Black Betty". Two videos that perfectly captures a point in time.
love this one
Great silly carefree song! Northern California is where they hail from! Blows your mind Don't it! Did you do Proud Mary yet? You should do them and Tina Turner back to back! As well as Marvin Gayes Heard it through the Grapevine!
Yeah !!! I Love this video, and of course the song !!!
Yep .. Classic song and classic video !!! .. Love everything about this 👍👍👍
Since you are from Texas you should check out the great blues slide guitar player/singer Johnny Winter and/or his brother Edgar from Beaumont. And...CCR is from California but certainly sounds Southern.
If I have a BBQ, CCRs greatest hits is probably on. An all age crowd pleaser. Fogarty is in my top 5 male vocalists along with AL Green, Freddie Mercury, Elvis...etc.
Reaction ☆☆☆☆☆
This is another CCR short song playfully about psychedelics. Absolutely one of my favorites and I listen to it several times a week. CCR is absolutely one of the greatest bands from ‘59 -‘72. This band has soul.
Y'all are great BJ is hilarious without trying and Asia is just beautiful and has a beautiful voice! Y'all are a beautiful couple with a great channel! This song is just one of CCR's masterpieces! John Doherty was the hook master!
One thing guys... Glad you are going back...to 60s,70s ...cuz these songs where about life, love..America..
They are from ElCerrito Californioa in the San Francisco Bay Area. I met them in High School in the 70s when we hired CCR to play at a dance in Concord California. Great Band!
There’s an animated video somewhere that animated all the wild stuff he seeing. It’s pretty trippy 😂
Yep, the lyrics were a lot of fun to learn!
CCR is from California, Northern California but loved country tunes and blues like BJ mentioned.
I believe they are from California near San Francisco. It's possible they may have been born elsewhere. Just like the Rolling Stones are from the UK but have capture the US southern blues vibe better than most. CCR has done much of the same.
GREAT SONG!
Yeah ya'll CCR rockin' it.
"Lodi" is a great ballad by them
I love how he makes you laugh.
Now that is the way you play music!
CCR hails from El Cerrito CA. The also wrote a song about my home town and my birth town, Lodi and Porterville
Love CCR. Just don't forget this "Southern Rock" band was from San Francisco Bay Area
Growing up there was nothing like putting on a tape of CCR on the car radio/cassette player and cruising down the hi-way.
Another fav CCR song!!! Short but sweet like BJ said...!This song has a "fun" vibe which makes sense since it was apparently written about his 3 year old son...😌
Their best song that really showcases their soul and talent is "Born on the Bayou". You need to review that song SERIOUSLY!
CCR formed in El Cerrito, California.
My go-to mood-changer!!! 🥰
Ccr is an insanely good band. I grow up in the era.
Check out "Green River" by CCR....gonna love it. God Bless.
Try Heard it through the Grapevine extended cut..
CCR is from my state. California.
CCR is from Northren california-Fremont outside of SF I believe. their song Long As I Can See The Light is a ballad.
I'd be looking out my back door to if something caught my attention just like this song. Oh snap!
Greenbriar Skating Rink in Atlanta, late 60's early 70's. I roller skated to this song so many times. No, they are not from Alabama, they are from El Cerrito California. John Fogerty wrote and sings Centerfield (Put Me In Coach) that you hear at baseball games.
my favorite song when I was like 4....
I think he was singing about a big birthday party he had for his kid . What he was seeing looking out his back door if you listen to the words like dancing on the lawn and a magician or something.
I saw John Fogerty at CY Stephen's Auditorium in Ames, Iowa at the time he started playing CCR again after all the legal battles were settled. Fantastic concert
I live in Wisconsin, so "call our troubles Illinois" is a fun lyric for me.
All the CCR every song....try I put a spell on you or Susie Q and when there’s a long version go with it don’t miss the exstended jams and solos
A brilliant toe tappy tune!
Long as I can see the light- is a good song by them ✌️😎
Love CCR, in fact I’m going to be going to a concert on the 1st, a tribute to CCR
He made this song for his little boy to dance too that's why all the colorful things he speaks about
its always cool to watch you guys! keep it up.
CCR is one of the greats. Many great songs, & John Fogarty can jam. Check their cover of “Heard it through the grapevine”. ✌️❤️🎶
Born on the bijou, Fortunate Son, Running through the Jungle…are some other great songs. He wrote this song after coming off the road from a tour. It was for his son. It was meant to be lighthearted and fun…which it certainly was… one of the first songs I learned to play on guitar. CC
California (El Cerrito) but heavy influenced by Southern rock, Blues & Country. They were on top of the world after The Beatles' split. Btw, there are so many songs by them that weren't hits, but just about EVERY song is a gem. Some are even better and tastier than the hits IMHO. You should really explore the albums. You won't regret.
CCR 3 albums in 1 year and done leaving a lot of greats in that short time.
CCR IS FROM CALIFORNIA!!
"Ramble Tamble" great CCR song guys
Yeah C.C.R. is from northern California. A suggestion for a great ballad by them would be"Long as I can see the light". Good stuff.
Awesome choice “ Travelin Banb” and “ Born on the Bayou” are great too
This song was wrote for his son from childrens stories
Happy song based on a lovely day with his 3 year old
I like CCR they have some good songs
Can you believe we used to be riding in cars,, turning on the radio,,and this is what came out?
No gimmicks,,just music.
And you could call into the local radio station, request a song and hope they’d play it…..
@@laurakali6522 lol,, my favorite band was king crimson,, my request never got played.
They're from California and that electric guitar was just that, electric guitar. You guy's are great though!!!! Best love to you two!
Fogarty now days has his kids playing with him, all of who are very talented. His daughter sings backup with him. He calls the band Cosmos' factory
The band was formed in El Cerrito, California in the San Francisco Bay area in the mid 1960s.
Don't argue with me, I'm 71 years old and I know stuff.
If you want to hear a (not as popular) southern band that's from Florida, check out JJ Grey and Mofro. They're kind of a rocking blues type band.
A California band, believe it or not. My favorite band in late 60's until I discovered Led Zep. in 71.
I have more fun with you guys, than any other reactors, you guys are just real people.
CCR is from California, BJ. Great Band never the less.
Keep on Chooglin' is one of their best songs, you'd love it
CCR was formed in El Cerrito, CA
CCR are from El Cerrito Ca. A small Bay Area city north of Oakland.
One of my fav "pick me up" songs, when you aren't feeling so happy.
Nope they a Cali band but they are very well loved in the deep south. I live in South east Alabama and I been listening to CCR since before I was born. I always took the song to be sitting on your back porch where you have a lil privacy, smokin on a lil somethin somethin. Then he explains what s goin on in his backyard. Glad yall rolled up on this band. They are so good.
BJ and Asia. To quote you, if you like this video you will definitely like John Mellencamp and his OAPER IN FIRE video. When you see how poor people who have nothing but music brings then together, the magic is right there. It also references Eccesiastes for the message. Enjoy.
