I was in the U.S. Navy stationed in Iceland when their first album came out. I remember saying "Wow, old time rock and roll has come back to America, and it's better than ever!"
I could listen to CCR and Lynyrd Skynyrd all day long. We got some really amazing music in the short time we had them. I realize some went on to form or join other bands but the magic when they existed was unbelievable.
When CCR started they wanted to record country music but knew that at the time if they went to Nashville to record with their sound they would have been laughed out of town but all of their music you can hear country in it.
Another great song as I just said to another reaction video , We grew up with this, happy music just makes you feel good and this is how we thought , happiness and carefree and sunshine days of just feeling good, these groups knew how to bring those times and need be groups that still do it
"This song was partly written for John Fogerty's son Josh, who at the time was three years old. Fogerty said: "I knew he would love it if he heard me on the radio singing - doot doot doo, lookin' out my back door." In the song lyrics there is a reference to a parade passing by which John says was inspired by a Dr. Seuss book that he read as a kid titled To Think (That) I Saw It On Mulberry Street. "
I read one time that John didn't know where the "southern thing" came from until he was at the first Rock 'n Roll Hall of Fame induction where they inducted the founding fathers of Rock 'n Roll who were almost all from the south whom he grew up listening to. That's when he realized where his southern roots came from.
John Fogerty CCR, in the lyrics he says listening to Buck Owens, Buck Owens is from Bakersfield California. So is Merle Haggard. When they say “Country Western“ Music, they’re talking about Bakersfield.
Creedence Clearwater Revival really does the country music theme well on the songs "Lodi" and "Don't Look Now". But then when compared with contemporary country music, might as well include "Proud Mary", "Green River", "Midnight Special", and "Long As I Can See The Light" on that list too!
The song was written by John Fogerty after he saw his 3 year old son playing, some people thought it was made under influence of drugs because of the bizar text. Wel CCR was 1 of those few bands that never used drugs, and never had any problems related to that (overdose, drunk, stoned.....you name it)
By the standards of the time, he was unusually square (the closest he comes to swearing is "fricking") and strait-laced. "Yes I was very disciplined," he says. "Were there any drugs involved? Yeah, I smoked a little pot. I think my bandmates smoked quite a bit more pot. - John Fogerty (The Guardian interview)
When I hear this song and it takes me back to riding minibikes, playing Indian ball, and playing kick the can. Those were wonderful magical days for me.
Love you guys!! - I believe you will really love a slice of pure Americana - The City of New Orleans by Arlo Guthrie. Close your eyes, kick back and listen to what life was like riding the rails in mid-century America. It will make you feel like you are on the train they call the City of New Orleans.
I grew up on the great music of the 60's-70's. CCR has always been one of my favorites. They don't have a bad song! John Fogerty has one of the most unique & recognizable voices around. You guys have done a lot of their songs already. Will recommend "Proud Mary", "Lodi", "Commotion", "Night Time Is The Right Time", "Down On The Corner", "Cotton Fields", "Travelin' Band", "Who'll Stop The Rain", "Long As I Can See the Light", "Sweet Hitch-Hiker" etc.
These guys were one of the top acts of the world when I saw them live in the summer of '69. But I tell you - I always thought they were from Louisiana. lol
There are so many unknown songs by them which reactors will never play, but these songs are equally beautiful. "Walk On The Water", "Gloomy", "The Penthouse Pauper" and so on.
Lyrically, this was their best song, IMHO. When this first came out, all us teens didn't know what to make of it. Some classified it as a 'country song' and would have no part of it, while some viewed it as a 'novelty' tune. It was totally undanceable, with the 105 BPM tempo combined with the upbeat 4/4 time signature, so when played at the teen clubs, the dance floor was typically empty. But the complexity and richness of the lyrics was so incredible, few of us kids were able to resist humming along with it, when it came on the radio.
How many women LOVED that dude with his hair and his smile and music ability back then. Even his gap in his teeth is cute. He’s just a happy and attractive guy in this video!
Well, you might as well do "Green River" next or maybe "Sweet Hitch-Hiker" not that it really matters because whatever you pick, you're sure to enjoy. CCR GOLDEN ICONS OF SWAMP ROCK, YEAH!
I was 15 yrs. old in 1972, and CCR was my very first live concert. They were amazing! My favorites were "Suzi Q" and "Born On The Bayou". Would love your reactions to "Born On The Bayou" and/or "Run Through The Jungle". Any song by CCR is always a good choice, and this was a great reaction, you two! Thanks for bringing back some great memories! ;-) (see links below) Born On The Bayou - ruclips.net/video/fcTQCNntGEs/видео.html Run Through The Jungle - ruclips.net/video/EbI0cMyyw_M/видео.html
I consider “Lookin’ Out My Backdoor” to be the prototypical country song with its jug band feel. It sounds more authentic than modern country because CCR is a roots band, drawing heavily from the style of Gene Autry, Hank Williams, Tennessee Ernie Ford, and Johnnie Cash. For Bayou music, they clearly take a nod from Roy Orbison. John Fogerty is a certifiable music genius and is still performing. “Up Around the Bend” has an amazing opening riff to explore next.
S & M, now that you played some of Creedencr’s biggest hits play 2 of the most poignant songs Zthey ever wrote that none of the reactores never play 1. 1. Don’t look now’ from Their Oakland concert 2. Fogertu snd Dawes live on Letterman singing “Somefsy never comes”. You love these guys you’ll love them even more when you play thesr while you hear the lyrics. Break out of the box and give these tunes a listen..
I do not buy that y’all have never heard of Britney Spears, CCR, Aerosmith, Cher, queen, Gloria gaynor, Lionel Richie?????? It’s so fake. If you are going to do a reaction channel make your reactions real. Reacting to Britney Spears for the “first time” is cringe. Be better
You say nobody can copy their sound, but John Fogerty (lead singer) was actually sued for sounding like himself after CCR broke up.
They are having fun.
my favorite CCR! Been on every playlist of mine forever
I was in the U.S. Navy stationed in Iceland when their first album came out. I remember saying "Wow, old time rock and roll has come back to America, and it's better than ever!"
Long as I can see the light.. The night time is the right time

These guys were one of the top acts of the world when I saw them live in the summer of '69. But I tell you - I always thought they were from Louisiana. lol
I know - Fogarty was definitely born in the wrong place!
Somebody’s hooked.
There are so many unknown songs by them which reactors will never play, but these songs are equally beautiful. "Walk On The Water", "Gloomy", "The Penthouse Pauper" and so on.

You want soul you have to react to Feeling blue. One of my favorites from CCR.
What’s not to like about CCR, their music was, and still is very enjoyable, check out their song Up Around The Bend, singing about the good outdoors
I had to rewind and listen to it (and watch the video) twice because it was such a feel good song!

Give their tune Sweet Hitchhiker a listen.
That is Louisiana Swamp 🎶 Music!!!!!!
I believe in they grew up in Louisiana and later moved to California.

They may be from California. But they spent a lot of time in Louisiana and the Carolinas. They played a lot not far from me in Charleston.
Go listen to CCR, Proud Mary. You know John Fogerty wrote Proud Mary, right? Like Tina Turner’s Proud Mary. Give it a listen.
Mel.... john Fogerty was the singer...
To quick of a song!!! All there music needs to be 8 mins long!!
