  • It took me a full year to located the elusive TRC-422 That I wanted to use for this project, but the time has come. Hooked to a Radio Shack 4 foot Fiberglass whip, This mower is setup and ready for back country work now!
Over the summer, I plan on doing a little camping, so I'll make a range test video of it at that point.

Super easy on the Husqvarna TS354XD due to a built in 12v adapter. I installed a Cobra 18 WX ST II and a 42" magnetic mount antenna. Great when I'm working in the field or back woods to keep in touch with the home. Better than fumbling with a cellphone when you're hands are muddy, covered in grease or oil, and on cold days when you don't want to take your gloves off. It's not about a retro revival... it's just common sense. Thank you for continuing to share your experiences with us.

2000-2003 I ran 9 foot of RG-8x to a 102 and spring on my bicycle. Using a Maxon walkie talkie. While sitting on the bike the analyzer said 1.3 at 48 ohms. It talked great!!!!!

@Farpoint Farms You can probably cut down on swr by hooking ground from radio straight to battery and grounding battery to frame or chassis with 10 or 12 guage wire. Sand small part on frame and solder it to frame or find bolt sand under the bolt . Also ground the subframe or chassis to upper frame or body. If you don't ground chassis to body at least ground battery to chassis and antenna to chassis your swr will definitely drop.

Nice! I think if You moved the antenna to the hood, then bond the hood to the chassis Your SWR would improve. It is very cool to see another mower with a CB.

Reminds me of something you'd see in the ol' GIJoe sets as a kid...completely impractical yet still 100% combat ready!

After watching your other video about that radio, I bought two of them. We're going to put them on our Trailblazer and Hammerhead buggies. :)

Go all out the "Tool time, Tim Taylor" way and add a utility trailer to tote around the 40,000 watt AM linear.🤣👍

@Farpoint Farms get some of that thin packing foam that is used to wrap stuff in or a bicycle innertube cut to fit under that mount between hood and mount and a little piece for the top and bottom side of each screw to cut down on vibration. Vibration will cull that radio quickly, well I don't know for sure but it seems like it would
