- I walk through how i made a Plate Carrier Hanger for your body armor! It takes up much less space than the traditional 2x4 stands that people make. And it looks nicer too!

2:56 nothing ever takes me a minute or two...
Haha truth
Love the channel and the project! Keep up the good work!
Thank you! we have more videos coming!
I tried sanding and mine and the dust from the red paint turned the white area pink. Would an oil based paint work better?
thats strange, i would try a chalk paint, not oil based
I'm a fire fighter and i would like to build one of these for my personal bunker gear
Nice! you should! let me know how it turns out!
What size did you end up making the boards?
All measurements should be posted in the description. but if memory serves, about 1 foot long
Won't leaving your carrier hanging wear out the shoulder padding faster? Cause it's always resting on that area
Loving the channel man! Projects are awesome and the beer selection is a nice add! Looking forward to seeing a video with a barrel aged in to see your thoughts! Keep it up!
That’s a good idea! I’ll add that too the list!!! Thanks!!!
Just causally a SBC 😂😂
super casual
After burning it, brush it with a soft bristle to keep the look.
Hi again, how are you?, amazing video again, like usual, question on your pipes what did you use to clen them, I just got my today I got 1/2instead and cheaper and comes of course with a little grease, thanks man again, God bless you.
Hi! so i have had the same problem, i usually just wipe them down with a shop towel, but a dry paper towel would work ask well. Thanks for the kind words, let me know when you get your done! i stoked to see it!
Awesome project!! Thank you so much and I'll be making one soon.
Thats awesome! let me know if you have any questions! tag us on IG when its done!
@@Workshop1776 I'm not on any social media.
Nicely done, I’ve built quite a bit of using pipes cheapest place for the fittings is Amazon way cheaper than big box stores
oh, ill check that out thanks
How do the anchors attach to the rear of the flag portion? Do the just mount into the studs where the weight helps further secure the whole thing in place more so once the Weight of the plate carrier us added?
You can mount it into the studs on one side, or use heavy duty dry wall anchors. you mark where the screws are going to go, drill our a hole, insert the anchor and then mount the piece into those.
Nice work brother. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks man! We appreciate it over here!
Cool.
👍🏻
What are the actual dimensions.....?
5.5" w 12" h
Just a thought that might help you (or anyone wanting to make this): contact a wholesale plumbing supply company or an HVAC supply company and they should be able to offer you better prices on the black iron caps, nipples and floor flanges.
Oh that’s smart!
@@Workshop1776 Yeah I have worked for both of those types of places and it is amazing how much the big box stores mark it up.
Good stuff man! I am looking to build a duty cabinet for vest, boots and duty belt with charge station for radio. Cool build.
Nice! that would be really cool.
Loved it so much i making one of my plate carrier!
That’s awesome! Let me know how it turns out
Workshop 1776 its turning out great!
Awesome project man. Can’t wait to see the next one.
Thanks!
Where did you purchase a Tee for $25 because you got ripped off. Cool project though!
Home Depot hahaha thanks!
I'm pretty sure he meant the T, the base, the pipes and the caps. Basically ALL the steel parts for $25. At least that's what I took it as.
Nice! I use the same burn technique on a lot of my projects. Signature to some degree. 👍🏾
Gucci Gear & Woodpeckers.... my dude has taste
Hahaha the woodpeckers stuff is way outta my price range, but worth it haha
Very cool going to be building a standing one for my hard and soft armor
Nice man, lemme know how it turns out!
Great tutorial, thanks for sharing! What kind of tape did your buddy use for the laser engraving?
I got a small one for my birthday, but I'm not sure what tape I should be looking for.
Thanks brother!
Awesome! I have found that frog tape works the best, and make sure to use a card scraper or something like that to adhere the tape before engraving
@@Workshop1776 Awesome, thanks for the quick reply!
@@Workshop1776 Sorry for another question, but it turns out there are quite a few different types of Frog Tape. Is there a particular one you had good luck with?
I have a few vinyl squeegees tucked away that should work well for pressing the tape down, so I'm hopefully set there.
Thanks again!
@@kuzuriao I is the regular green one, but try to get the widest possible, less overlapping is better
@@Workshop1776 Fantastic, thank you very much!
How come you have an SBS plague behind you?? Nice videos btw. any tips for doing a Union Jack? (I’m welsh but f**k trying to do a dragon)
Hahaha I haven’t attempted the Union Jack, but I have seen people use a 1/16” or 1/8” backer board, and glue the pieces to that. Use wood glue and some kind of quick drying super glue (CA glue works great) together. The backer board allows you to glue it up without the pieces sliding around since there are a lot of angled pieces.
I worked with some SBS guys a few years back. Badass dudes.
I just realized that this was for the plate carrier video haha sorry, disregard the previous message about backer boards and glue lol. I would look on amazon for an acrylic stencil of the Union Jack, and use painters tape to secure it to the piece of wood and paint it on. Or, print out a picture of one and make your own stencil, (use cardstock if you can) that will allow you to get the exact size you want, and probably cheaper.
The nice thing about sanding it down for the distressed look, it's very forgiving in the details, so you just have to get the basic look and feel, and then you can sand away the parts that don't look right.
Sorry about the misdirection with the other comment haha
Workshop 1776 Roger that mate, Im going to try a thin blue line Union Jack (I’m a cop) so I’ll let you know how it goes hah (I’m not expecting great things). Good on you for serving, SWCC right? hats off to you 👍.
@@pet246431 I'm sure it will turn out great! that's part of the fun, figuring it out haha. Let me know! Ya, SWCC for 8 years, pretty fun experience
Nice and simple, awesome. Subbed
Thanks! glad you enjoyed it!
Actually i would never let plate carrier hang loose from shoulder straps when loaded. You're putting unnecessary stress on shoulder straps and stitching shortening the life of the the both and potential premature wear on the field would suck. Having a platform where you carries sits flat is way better option. Also depending of type of shoulder straps your using, it could deform them in a such way were they could irritate you when u wear it, after its been sitting for months all loaded up on a such hanger.
I’m irritated every time I wear it anyway lol
I think I saw your work on ETSY
Yup! im on there
Now thats a fuckin workshop. Jameson, tools, body armor. Rock on.
Hahaha thanks
@@Workshop1776 Looks like you haven't uploaded in a while, are you planning to?
I am, I have been crazy busy getting out of the military and moving across the country and adjusting to my new life as a stay at home dad hahaha. But as soon I can get a regular schedule down videos will start up again
@@Workshop1776 oh damn thats very understandable. I hope that works out. I'm in the process of re-upping. Im a month away from being in your position.
Thanks! And good luck to you as well
The piece is 12" by what?
5.5"
How long was the wood you cut
12”
How long is the wooden piece?
12 inches
What do you use to keep it on the wall and hold the weight
I bought some 48 lb. dry wall anchors from Home Depot, installed them into the wall and then used that screws that came with. Held it really tight and I haven't had any issues so far (I'll put a link to the ones I used in the description).
You could also find a stud and screw it directly into that work some good sized screws and be fine. That's what you do with shelving
Good video thanks
Thank you! I have more comin'!
amazing work
Thanks!
Nice
Thanks
Sweet tats
Hahaha Thanks!
