I used Void and Frost Shield for this, if you use it on his Spin Blades attack, you can easily get all 8 shots from the shield on him, that is a HIGE damage on its own even with zero jewels. For the heart strike, if the duration ends while during any Veil, you take zero damage.

I did not planned that it will get the attention to be honest, but happy that it'll help someone to clear this fight. Your feedback is duly noted =) For a gear i used movement speed set and a crossbow with a movement speed stat (weapon stats doesn't really matter, just use what you got). Jewels for a shields doesn't do much in this case, but i'll make notes next time.
Yeah, heart strike will kill you in one shot basically (initial strike, DoT + explosion at the end). One of the reasons that i uploaded this video cuz of the end (i was quick enough to finish him off before explosion happened). You can also block this attack with a shield if your dodge is on CD.
I'm playing exclusively solo and on brutal difficulty and i would say party play would change this but: i find it very difficult to do melee on most bosses solo, so your choice is really bow vs crossbow, i prefer latter. Crossbow has very fast cast speed with weapon abilities (0.3 and 0.4 seconds). Greatsword is great if you want to try melee, jump ability allows you to avoid some mechanics. Axes great if you need damage.

I used the longbow and the same shields like you did for this, except I used the blood ult to execute him instead of army. P good.
