    Also, if the watwr heater has sediment buildup, would it help to keep the incoming valve on for a bit while draining?

    You didn’t mention the relief valve. Is that not necessary or a way to slow air into the water heater?

    Before your first draining step, you don't mention anything about the pilot. Does that need to be turned off, or should you lower the water temp to very low?

    TURN THE RELIEF VALVE AT THE TOP OF YOUR WATER HEATER BEFORE TRYING THIS. IT ALLOWS AIR THROUGH YOUR TANK WHILE DRAINING.

      You didn't hear the news
