    Great work I like manual and cnc it keeps the skills up nothing wrong with having both in a small shop and at the price you got the cnc for you definitely came out on top

    Good to see you back. I also have an old Haas VF-1 CNC machine. Had to put a new control in and running ok

    My drill recipe:. Spin at 3000 (unless that's too high SFM for big drills in hard metals)
    Feed at 100x diameter per minute.
    If thinner than 4 diameters, just drill to depth.
    Else peck 0.8 diameter per peck in soft, 1.6x diameter per peck in stainless, retract every 4 diameters.
    Never lost a drill with toys recipe in aluminum, steel, stainless, or titanium! I found it online many years ago and thank whomever came up with it.

    2K is a great deal for a small mill like that, especially since it looks to be in really good condition. Nice little VMC tucks right in. Have you looked into getting a coolant mister or mql system. Mql is pretty nice for an open face machine like that Fadal, plus once you get the system you can usually adapt it to several machines, they are great for manuals also.

      Iv looked into mql and I'm not sure if its for me or not. I kind of want to put and enclosure on this machine at some point, just haven't been able to find the time to allow for it. strait air seems to be doing the work I need it to for now. Something to defiantly think about though.

      @@MamcoMachining Totally understand, its not something on high up on the priority list, and it does take a bit of figuring out. Once you get it set up it can be really nice. Way less mess then flood coolant. Do any of you manual mills or lathes have sumps? We have a haas tool makers lathe at work and I really want to get installed on this lathe. We run flood coolant and it always splashes all over the place, because the machine is open similar to a regular manual lathe.

    Really nice job man I love seeing interpolating with a cnc. I think fadal machines are very good.

    Good video! I love CNC machining! Maybe one day you can get some newer ones in! The good thing is, you have a solid foundation and helps with translating speed and feeds immensely! Keep up the good work!

    i know somebody will say dont file on the backstroke but i know you did not put any pressure to make a difference on the back stroke

    How fast are you pushing the endmill?

    • @MamcoMachining
      @MamcoMachining  3 года назад

      Running about 2k rpm and .002 chip load per tooth. I know I could push harder than that, but no need to in this setting. I didn't lose any time with this one part and it allowed me to focus on a different project in the shop. Now if I had to make 10 of these at a time I would for sure look at ways to speed this up. I have a lot of room for improvements.

    Awesome I’ve always thought that one of these old VMC could make a great addition in a small shop
