It's really cool to see the difference in camping in the UK as compared to the campimg and hiking we do in the state of Tennessee in the USA. You make a very entertaining video Sir .
Max Patch was my favorite camping spot on the Appalachian Trail south of Hot Springs in North Carolina. It's maintained to be treeless and camping is allowed on top, but the toilet area was a mess. Check it out if you are ever in the southeastern USA. Thanks, Paul, I enjoy your channel immensely! 👍☺
I've been a scout for around 4 months, and I'll have my first camp soon. It's super exciting but I literally know nothing about surviving in the wild so your videos are very, very informative and fun to watch! Thank you for your uploads :)
Nice to see you rocking a bit of a scandinavian setup with a Baltoro and a Soulo, two very respected products here in Denmark. I don't much fancy a liquid alcohol burner on a little table in my very narrow vestibule though, just makes me uneasy, though I am 100% confident you know what you're doing and it is safer than it looks. Great to see you still rock your Soulo. Greetings from Denmark
In the wind and this conditions I use this stove as it’s spill proof and only small. The cone concentrates the heat so very little flame needed and i find it safer.
@@PaulMessner I was unaware it was spill proof, perfect. I'm not a huge fan of a flame or carrying flammable liquid but I can see the advantage, especially the reliability and silence. I currently use a windburner which I find very stable, reliable, efficient and safe, though it is by no means ultralight. I shall endeavour to try a spill proof alcohol burner, looks very cosy
I live and grew up with the Appalachian trail right in my back yard in the state of New York in the USA. I absolutely love backpacking and the outdoors and would some day like to come to the UK and Ireland to camp and see where my family came from. Cheers 🥂
Looked like a nice relaxing camp! Love the old hands in the boot to crawl out of the tent trick! Reminds me of bivy camping. It’s about the only way I can get out of a head entrance bivy without getting my hands cold and wet! Beautiful spot to camp!
Nice one Paul. Deffo going for it this year with a wild camp or 2 in the mountains. Thanks for the grounded videos. We need this sort of stuff with all the loonacy that going on right now.
Thanks for another great video, Paul. Always appreciate the little things like keeping in almost tripping over the guylines. It's something that we all do and is what makes your content so relatable. Happy Trails!
Great video again Paul as ever. A safety tip for campers using hot water bottles...squeeze all of the air out before screwing the top on, this will stop it acting like a pressure cooker and potentially exploding and causing nasty burns!
cracking vid again, we are finally into soulo territory, looking forward to some winter camps, love the hat, just grabbed one and will be wearing it at the weekend hopefully.
I've not wilded camped in darkest winter as a civilian, Being in a tent for 16 hours would be a challenge for me, As a Soldier it wasn't a problem as we would be out most the night training with just a few hours sleep in our Basha, Well done Paul having the patience, Love you Videos Mate,
Hi Paul we really enjoy your videos and are just watching your Edale trip where you talk about bullies. Well you do right to ignore them. Bullies need to know that having a go at judging others is not the way to sort their issues out. You go be happy and stay safe 😎
Loves those shots where Paul is walking ahead knowing he has to walk back to get the camera again, getting in the steps bud. All jokes aside, loving the content!
Another great video buddy and nice views and area. Love the hot water bottle idea for the winter and i will give it a try on one of my future winter wild camps.
This is the 1st video I've seen that shows how to take down the Soulo while it's still guyed out in gusty windy weather conditions. I often experience strong gusty windy weather when up in the high Sierras here in the Western part of U.S.A. Any Hilleberg tent, I have an Enan, is worth every penny because I know my tent will provide me with shelter during a storm. I like that small folding table & just bought one off eBay. My personal preference for a heat source is the Soto Windmaster. I put a cutoff toe part of a wool sock & put it around the fuel canister & sleep with it to keep the contents warm. My preference is a pair of Down booties to keep my feet warm in preference to a hot water bottle. When I plan to eat Freeze Dried meal when camping, I take the meal out of the foil pack & place it in a 1qt Freezer ziplock baggie. After boiling water I then pour the Freeze Dried meal into my cup of boiling water. A Koozie around the cup keeps my meal HOT HOT right down to the last sporkful. Warm Regards from Reno, Nevada U.S.A.
Great spot. Can get quite breezy up on that edge. Nothing your tent can't handle of course. Surprised you didn't get people passing you. That spot's about 15ft from the main footpath. Great location though for midweek. Great video
Great camp Paul, camped that area a couple of times. I love your video quality very professional and we’ll planned. A responsible role model for aspiring campers doing the right thing planning the weather and using all the right kit appropriately. I’ve been with your channel since the beginning and seen it grow into a really great and enjoyable view. Keep that integrity that you show as it is a great quality you possess atb Dave 😀👍

Hell yeah! Paul leaving the Soulo guide/pegged out when dismantling the Airforce alloy poles, also the washing line indoors:) have I noticed the loops for that before? I have now. Flipping top camp Paul. I noticed you was looking all wintery in Orange. Good one Paul. From Craig. Marvelous!
Super up there Paul. I was digging the mini water bottle - I've never done that before but makes sense. I have cooked in my vestibule though and find it not a problem so long as you're careful with your movements. Any way, have a cool week. Mark
I motorcycle camp so dont have to worry about weight and size but the tent i use is the Slumit Cub 2 flash frame tent, up in 30 seconds, no faffing about with poles, totally waterproof and about 100 quid, brilliant piece of kit.

I bought the Zephyros compact this year, and was glad to see you liked it (after I had bought it!) I won't be putting it up on top of a mountain, so I think it will be good for most UK weather conditions, as long as I have the right sleeping gear.
I love Alport Castles, video really doesn't it do it justice to just how big it really is or how steep it is the closer you get. Went there on a weekend and even then we only saw a handful of people and that was in the summer. One thing I find works well for keeping a tripod up is using the hook on the bottom with a bit of bungee and a peg.
Great Video - Did the same walk up to Alport castles with my Daighter. camped on Little Moor (the slightly isolated land slip section) and down the same path. Such a great spot to soak in the peaks.
