The World Famous VIRAL Clash Between Vegan Activist Joey Carbstrong and Celebrity TV show Host Jeremy Vine.
This is the controversial and intense Radio debate that started a tirade of media in the UK. I was heavily criticised for my aggressive conduct in this debate even by the vegan community, but does the good outweigh the bad? You can be the judge...

You were never criticized by me Joey, you did great and you continue doing great for the animals. Keep it up brother.
Wayward Winchester I’ll second that
@albert fish. Well said bet he would suck his meat sausage
So if i kill the animal myself and don't buy meat from the grocery store should i be judged? ( p.s I've been doing it for 3 years now)
@@imapugwearingglasses3629 - It depends on the philosophy and the culture. In Nazi Germany you would have been sent to a concentration camp for animal cruelty. In the USA now, you would be sent to prison for animal cruelty if you did that to a dog. In India, if you did that to a cow, I have no idea how long you would last.
@@victorpetrov829 tf it's my own farm and animals.....and i kill them humanely on the terms of halal and a last thing this world isn't as deluded as you think no one would be sent to concentration camps or to jail only because they killed an animal to eat. But in india it's a different story
Righteous anger.
I'm glad you uploaded this. I personally didn't think anything negative about this interview. A dead pig is a dead pig, and violence is violence. Why should we beat around the bush and act like politicians when innocent animals are getting their throats slit? I know some people don't like it; but this straight forward approach is what turned me into an ethical vegan. We need to utilize all approaches in our vegan activism, and this approach is an effective one.
Yep telling it like it really is.. definitely my preferred choice!
planting nice strong seeds piercing through the thick veil of social conditioning
WORD. NO BEATING AROUND THE BUSH. TRUTH IS NEEDED WHEN THERE IS A “HELL” ON EARTH.
👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Me too, thank you Joey
There was nothing aggressive about that interview. You spoke from the heart and you spoke the truth. You are very truthful and very inspirational. You are composed and sensible. Good on you Joey keep up your good work I am with you all the way You have helped so many and are still doing so. Thank you

100% well said
I can't agree with you Albert Fish he is not annoying. Joey was consistent in his conversation and truthful that is not annoying but fact I really admire Joey he doesn't back down, he keeps on giving answers relentlessly but politely. People probably find that annoying because they haven't got an answer or they can't justify their actions Keep up he good work Joey
Albert Fisher. How can you say "brainwashed" vegan when as children we are taught and told we need to eat meat we need to drink cows milk isn't that brainwashing from an early age. I don't know where you get the idea that being vegan is being brainwashed. Animals are sentient beings they feel pain they feel pleasure they should not be exploited by humans We have no right to breed, torture and murder them Surely you can see that what happens in slaughter houses, dairy farms, caged chickens even so called free range is cruel and Inhumane and completely unnecessary. Not to mention other industries that exploit animals like goats, sheep, turkeys, any animal.
Veganism is not just a diet of plants it is an active and educated way of living a compassionate life and caring for the environment. It is better for human health, climate change and a better way of living and saving this planet for future generations I know I want this for my children and grandchildren.
You make me laugh ahaha
The carnist is literally arguing for willful ignorance. How appropriate.
That was a pretty astounding argument from Jeremy Vine. Killing animals is okay. But hearing about animals being killed... HOW DARE YOU!
jhunt5578 lol yeah exactly
@albert fish He's not calling you a carnivore but a carnist. Carnist is a term used by the phycologist Dr. Melany Joy. She calls Carnism the invisible belief system of people who are omnivores. Simply put carnists believe that it's okay to eat some animals, but other animals are off limits as food.
For example most carnists would happily eat a pig, but would be appalled by eating a dog. But what is the ethical difference when both those animals suffer?
Most carnists would happily eat a lamb, but never a house cat. But what is the ethical difference when both of those animals seek to avoid dying?
And this hidden belief system of carnism changes from culture to culture. In India you never eat a cow, in the Middle East it's not kosher or halal to eat pigs, in Kazakhstan they eat horses, in Peru guinea pigs, in Japan whales, in Korea dogs, in Vietnam cats.
All of these animals suffer and desire to live, to favour one over the other is hypocritical and Carnist.
@albert fish In Vietnam some dogs are specifically bred to be food, would you eat one of those dogs?
@@Giovanni-it5qo That's fair. In Dr. Melany Joy's concept, she identifies some main diets held through belief systems. 1. Veganism (The belief that you shouldn't eat any animal products) 2. Vegetarianism (The belief that animal flesh is off limits but it's okay to consume their by-products) 3. Carnism (The belief that it's okay to eat some animals, but other animals are off limits as food.) 4. Cannibalism (The belief that it's okay to eat all animals)
So I imagine that you are a Carnist, and in your particular case, you are okay with eating all non-human animals, but to eat a human animal would be off limits. Or would you eat a human if they taste good?
Joey this is a legendary interview, I’m so glad you shared. Your responses were concise and right on point, and you spoke with passion yet didn’t let it diminish your logic. Great job!

"Is it possible that eating meat would calm you down" what the fuuuck
@Jedi Monk of Kefalonia Im curious, what nutrients do you feel you cannot get from plants?
@Jedi Monk of Kefalonia "stick to nature"? There's nothing natural about breeding and slaughtering billions of animals, nor about feeding those animals tons of B12 and antibiotics to make the most profit out of them. Take your own argument, stick to nature, and eat plants.
Jedi Monk of Kefalonia my nature tells me not to harm animals if I don't have to, that doesnt work. We can get all the things we need minus b12 from plants
@Jedi Monk of Kefalonia EPA and DHA are obtainable via ALA, you can be perfectly fine, or even better without heme iron, vitamins are the least problematic of all, since plants contain so many. Taurine and creatine are already produced by our own body. And carnosine is not even essential.
Fibre is indigestible, yet we do need to eat it. Phytic acids doesn't seem to be that much of a problem. Same for oxalates. Lectins aren't a problem at all, since nobody eats raw beans...
You are saying you are more knowledgeable than the academy of nutritions from a lot of different countries, who say that appropriately planned vegan diets are healthful, nutritionally adequate, and may provide health benefits for the prevention and treatment of certain diseases. They do not say that you can survive for a few years before being deficient in some things, they say it is *healthful* and *nutritionally adequate* . So I'd suggest you study a bit more, find out why your opinion diverges from a ton of doctors and nutrionist, and listen to what the science is saying. *You don't need* to eat animals. So stop killing them.
@Jedi Monk of Kefalonia right.. cause abuse torture fear slaughter calms the soul right down O.o

"Worry about your own country."

So the programming was - it's only meat.
If she admitted it was an animal I wouldn't eat it, I was then psychologically manipulated by the government and meat industry to continue disconnecting life and innocence!!!
It was Earthlings and, Game Changers Documentaries that awoke me, that connected the dots and I still to this day am devastated by my choices.
I feel betrayed and so upset by the evil industry that I make it my MISSION as well to expose, shame and argue for the voiceless!!!
I did Challenge 22 by Joey and am a regular Vegan advocate in the graduates group on Facebook helping people make better choices now for meat alternatives and replacing nutrients from meat.

I love hearing the passion, it's a breath of fresh air. 50 billion land animals and a trillion fish a year. More than the amount of dogs that even exist. Great interview.
Fighting genocide is uncomfortable to those committing genocide.
@Pappy Tron The fact that people still play the name game instead of facing the actual act of killing mass numbers of sentient beings because of who and what they are is more uncomfortable than even that
@Pappy Tron Ah, that makes total sense.
Ok well billions of animals are being slaughtered every year, but it's not genocide. Animals- for example cows- are getting fisted up their anus and injected with semen without consent, as animals cannot give consent, but it's not rape. And though animals are essentially victims being killed by humans for no reason other than to be eaten even though it is currently unnecessary, it is not murder.
*Fighting the mass slaughter of sentient beings is uncomfortable to those committing the mass slaughter of sentient beings*
There you are, an argument that does not rely on "buzzwords for impact'
It simply is what it simply is.
No matter how much you deny it, it is the same thing. The name game can only be played for so long
Genocide is an attempt to wipe out an entire population.. off the face of the earth. For no reason. See the difference? Get your vegan lingo right bruv.
@@Skunkyfunk it's a constant rate of murder, much like speed is a constant rate of acceleration. If we maintained the rate of murder without the rape to maintain the numbers the many species we eat en masse would reach extinction quickly. It's a word used to promote compassion, critical thinking, and a reduction of supply/demand driven consumerism. we arent going for absolute exactitude here.
jeff schumacher exactly, you’re using a word that is used to describe the extermination of a species to further your ethical viewpoint. Farming animals isn’t the deliberate extermination of a species. Vegans like to use words that aren’t relevant to a situation to further their own personal beliefs/agenda. Its a religion/cult ideology

I know the vegan argument for animals rights is good, but do some research about how people become ex-vegans because their health has suffered. Just note there has never been a long term vegan community in the history of the world and this is a more recent experiment. As someone at such a young impressionable age, make sure you do your research and determine the best path for physical and mental health. Yes, there are things wrong with the animal industry, but that doesnt automatically make the vegan diet the most healthiest diet choice. Be smart, be educated and never shut your door to new ideas. Best of luck.

I laughed at vegans 3 years ago, while defending eating a steak. And here I am, vegan 3 years.. I feel embarrassed being an idiot for so long.
*Benevolent arrogance* is something I also apply.
Vegans who criticize an arrogant or aggressive approach by another vegan in a debate is commiting a logical error. We are not trying to wake up avid meat eaters - they are not wakeable. Nor do we care of non-vegans watching the debate who thinks we're being arrogant - such people are only looking for excuses to not having to change their habits(they wouldn't change regardless of how "Nice" the vegan debator is).
An aggressive, no-nonsense approach is the only way to go. We want to "recruit" those who are like most of us once were - compassionate people who doesn't really like to eat animal products but are in a weird, almost trance like state where they just continue their old habits for no reason. It's these people we are REALLY speaking to when being aggressive in a debate against an avid, unchangeable meateater. These people need a wakeup call - and we need to speak loud so they can hear us.
Well done Joey! I still can’t understand with so many other haulage jobs out there, why drivers choose a job transporting animals to slaughter houses?

I appreciate that in that sort of situation the adrenaline is high and I would imagine afterwards when you feel you'd given a good account of yourself the endorphins are flowing, but what you're doing isn't entertainment.
Your style is more intense than someone like Earthling Ed or Natasha from That Vegan Couple, which some might say is a bit less effective, but I certainly couldn't do what you do without losing it completely.
As a side note, Jeremy Vine also hosts a morning tv show, discussing issues of the day with 3 other public figures. You have been mentioned a couple of times by Mr Vine since this interview, when vegan stories are in the news and he has been less than complementary about you.
Keep doing what you do.
Vegans being indirect and skirting around the issue are the reason why it took me 19 years to become one. People need to hear the cold hard truth. You cannot kill someone that does not want to die and a "ham" sandwich is a dead pig. This interview is excellent and would turn me vegan straight away. Joey has a right to be angry, we all do. Animals are being murdered for no reason whatsoever and we need to make that as clear as possible.

Keep up the good work Joey..... It's the 'death rattle' of the meat, dairy and egg industry we're hearing...
Joey your editing is quite good. Thank you for sharing this, your one of my biggest motivation for being a new activist. What video editor do use? I just started RUclips. Thank you Joey 🙏💯
Eating meat calms you down? Based on what evidence? If anything drinking tea calm people down. People should look into the philosophy of veganism. Look into the message, not the messenger.
First time hearing this, and honestly Joey you did not sound aggressive at all to me, only straight forward and passionate which most vegans would be and I think it was the right way to go, not censoring your speech and being true to your feelings. 👍🏽🌿
You are doing a wonderful thing Joey, not many people have the courage to defend animals the way you do.
There is something so disgusting about when meat eaters say they "don't want to know where it comes from" but still be complicit. Why can't they understand that meat doesn't grow on trees
That was a super interview done by one of the best vegan activist in the world. Great one, my brother.
You're a true advocate, Joey! 5 years and more to come, very good man :)
Great job as always Joey. Keep standing up for animals we are winning the fight
@@Giovanni-it5qo people are going vegan everyday. Be on the right side of history!

I remember seeing your video on this and I still feel the same way about it. Your heart is always in the right place and you're Human so whatever way your passion comes across, it's never wrong. You do what you feel you need to do. You've explained many times that you don't condone aggressive activism but a lot of vegans are angry, I was for a long time so I can understand why they do those things.
As always, the animals are the victims, not the farmers. Gary Yourofsky said something about all this and it went something like, if people are shocked and disgusted about the words or acts to do with animal agriculture and they try to shut off from it not wanting to see or hear about it, then it shouldn't be good enough for them to eat it.
Awesome video Joey.
I am so thrilled to be a patreon donor to you, Joey. People reading this, we need to fund effective activism if we are really serious about achieving animal liberation. Joey, I didn't think you were not aggressive at all. I think the interviewer was absurdly aggressive, but he covered it up by speaking in a calm "nice" voice, while he disrespected you, everything you believe in, and the animals at every turn.
My family and turned almost exactly year being vegan and your videos inspire us to be more of an activist, in a year we help 10 people to become vegan and many more with the seed planted, I see it growing in the California, Del Taco and Carl jr now with beyond meat , I think vegan pizza at Pizza Hut, and now my mom and I showed veganism to my uncle now he has vegan menu at his restaurant. Keep it up Joey ! I'm really hopeful of the future 😁
Joey you truly are amazing and don’t ever doubt yourself. Passion is not aggression and you done great on behalf of the poor animals! 💙
The world needs people like you!!! You are changing the world, keep up the good work
I've been vegan for 33 years. You were not aggressive. What we have to remember to say is, "Mate, if you were on your way to slaughter, how would you want me to speak up for you?" We have to be passionate and sometimes we have to be as loud and persistant as the screams of animals most will never hear.
All activists have their own technique, not every method suits everyone. There is a place for all types of activism, so long as it’s not violent, and people have become vegan because of you, so never excuse who you are, you are you, and you are awesome 😎
You did a good job 👍
Love to Laura x
There's no comfortable way of breaking the ugly truth. Anything activism by vegans will be seen as extreme no matter how tame it is.
Good interview as always. Thank you.
So powerful, the speech at the end very good :) thank you for the work you do.
@@Giovanni-it5qo would you call yourself an animal lover?
That was perfect joey. If the animals were listening and could understand what you said to defend them, they would be proud. Dont let anyone judge what you do with passion and love. That comes from the heart. If it means anything, you are my hero. You are a great leader. You are my inspiration. I try to model my videos on my channel after you. You were the first activist I watched talking to people in the public. Thank you a million times over.
'Is it true that meat calms you down?' Possibly the most stupid question asked in an interview.
It's great that you've released this Joey! I think you actually handled yourself quite well. It's always difficult talking to people in these kind of situations... they set you up in a way to ensure there is a proper "show" for the listeners. It's like they goad someone into a verbal fight and then act surprised about it. Like, oh, the vegan can't be calm? He should eat some meat. Good on you man! Keep up your excellent work!
