    1:38 why not?
I have an external hdd that I use to save files mostly pictures and videos of my kids, and I was looking at getting another external hdd to back them up on it in case something happens to one of the hdds, I would still have another copy of them sitting in the other disk. Then I thought about getting an SDD instead of HDD, and one link and another lead me to your video.
I'm don't know much about SSDs, but do you recommend an SSD if I'm strictly looking for it to save files and memories on them and maybe use it in few years? That's the only reason I'm thinking about getting one, and your remark in the video made me question this move.
    Thanks in advance.

So what I recommend is a full size external hard drives for long term back up, take it out once a month throw stuff on it and put it somewhere safe at home, and you can have another copy on those small 2.5" portable HDD.
SSDs are meant to be used often, for fast speeds, if you leave it for a long time without plugging it in, eventually you may lose some or all of your files.
Hard drives will keep your files as long as it is stored and handled with care
      Hope this helps

I also had this portable SSD for a while and I said why not check what others think about it. But the thing is that I think I paid way less than you or others did. I bought it from Aliexpress with only 51.36 US $ and free shipping. Idk why your last seen price is 105$.

I got this back when 256GB SSDs used to cost around $100
Prices have recently dropped hard which is nice

I got the 500GB version on AliExpress for ~71EUR.
I do think it has a problem: the USB-C connector is.... not reversible. The computer finds the SDD only when the USB-C connector is in the SSD in one direction. It's very weird. Alas, I don't have any other USB-C cables to test with yet.
I did send a message to the AliExpress seller, but no reply yet. I don't really expect a reply.
Main reason for having it will be a portable Linux install, and quick data transfer.

    • @jawtheshark
      @jawtheshark 6 лет назад +1

Just for the record. The seller was very friendly, and I could return it (registered mail was fine, so it was ~4€). I received a new one which was fully functional.

@@lordfiremann Works perfectly fine. I don't use it that often, but it works. No problems with reversibility an more. Performance seems fine for an SSD over USB 3.0 too.

Can you do a specific test? I want to buy this ssd, but I don’t know if it will work stably with the Blackmagic Design Pocket Cinema Camera 4K camera
The recording speed of the camera requires 270mb per second.
Can you write files in CinemaDNG format and check what the recording speed will be?
I left the link below. You need to write at least 20 GB of data. (you can make copies of files)
I will be grateful to you!
