    I'm nicely impressed, Roland is doing good things for the EWI players, I have been an EWI4000 fan for many years but after hearing the AE-30 is time to switch!

      Yup. Me too. I love my 4000s, but it seems like AKAI has abandoned advancing their EWIs. Definitely excited about Roland and the Aerophone pro.

      I would say a no go with the aerophone Pro 30 compared to Ewi I have an EWi 5000 and I think I’m gonna stick with that although I can’t really turn mine because American music supply doesn’t take returns on aerophones. This is my review
      I will say I am disappointed in it
      Aerophone review. I wanted to return it but American Music Supply has a no return policy on this model.
      Aerophone review.
      - [ ] The neck strap isn’t very nice.
      - [ ] Spit tray very flexible easy to pop off or catch on the clothing and pop off(would rather have something plastic that slides into place
      - [ ] Great selection of instruments but not quite enough. Missing banjo, mando but there should be an easier way to access all of the instruments possibly a number system without having to use an app
      - [ ] Reed moves easy even after screw tightened.
      - [ ] Keys feel comfortable
      - [ ] Menu hard to find stuff quick unless you use app
      - [ ] Keys cheap plastic will discolor after time
      - [ ] Case great. Plenty of room.
      - [ ] Let’s talk power. Seems to be missing the mark on this one. Batteries or plugged in. Why isn’t there a rechargeable power pack in unit ? Then sell the batteries individually when they no longer charge.
      - [ ] Being able to control the volume quickly you can’t you actually have to go in the menu to do it or unless you have a volume pedal
      - [ ] Why couldn’t you put a volume control knob just like the scene or the transpose knobs
      - [ ] It’s missing a very distinctive organ sound
      - [ ] While I think there are not enough voices and sounds and instruments I feel that they concentrated within the synth family to cover every base and they overdid the synth area I wish they would’ve concentrated more on your basic band instruments instead of 80s synth sounds
      - [ ] I feel there should be more organ sounds
      - [ ] Has a good horn section
      - [ ] Off the mark on the violin sound it’s a no go
      - [ ] In the string section I would like to have the ability to do my own vibrato a string player does not play vibrato on every single note.

      Hello.. I would like to learn sax and saved some money, for reasons of originality because even with all its risks, one would like a real sax because I have never had it.. But this Ae30 puts me in doubt, since it has different octaves in addition to others effects, what do you recommend? What would be good, to buy a real alto or tenor sax or this new artifact?. Please help

    Thank you for a sensitive and sensible demo of these sounds and nuances! In some of the other demos we hear blues & funk licks or other semi-flashy finger movement, but sometimes that’s running past the functionality of the sound at hand. This Pro version may carry more functionality for me amongst the Roland wind controllers. Now to justify the cost (or offset it) with some gigs!

    Back for another listen. Taking Lead and Uilleann Pipes are my favourites of these and the Trumpet would go well alongside my real alto to make a horn section.

    Hi Alistair
    I have studied various excellent RUclips tutorials by you.
    I am trying to discover if the AE30 will reproduce the sound of a full brass section in a rock / pop band, say, trumpet, trombone and tenor saxophone.
    I play tenor saxophone in such a band and sometimes use a harmonising machine but the sound lacks the punch that those other brass instruments give.
    Any guidance will be most appreciated.

    I got the ae-10 seven weeks ago the octave thumb cluster is very difficult to move up an octave as the keys are so small and close.
    The a30 is not improved in this area.
    Rolands are not interested in being contacted on these comments.

    • @nuttysquirrel8574
      @nuttysquirrel8574 4 года назад

      I agree. I have had my AE10 for over 2yrs and have suggested a number of improvements but they are not interested in the public's opinions. As a clarinet/sax player of good standard my major gripe is no rollers between the 'little' finger, 'accidental' keys as there are on real saxes. In this era of micro-engineering this really should not be a problem and would enhance the playability. Also why no resistance under the keys to prevent, or at least diminish, the clacking noise? May be a super new addition but could easily have been so much better.

    Alistair, great playing as ever. And thanks for confirming improvements on the lip pressure sensor compared to the initial AE-10.
    Roland, are you going to trade in the AE-10’s which you know have had enormous issues from the beginning, making it unusable as a decent MIDI windcontroller?
    Even decades old Yamaha WX’s, newer Akai EWI’s, the Aodyo Sylphyo or the cheaper Vindor ES1, to name a few, respond better and faster to ones playing. No strange things like 20ms signal delays, large time gaps between attack and continuous breath and overall sluggish response, like on the AE-10. Design mistakes that were discussed numerous times, but never fixed because they were due to hardware design choices. And now all confirmed by releasing a Pro upgrade that apparently fixes a few of these issue. Now what? Throw away the AE-10 and invest again?

    • @nuttysquirrel8574
      @nuttysquirrel8574 4 года назад

      Very good points. It would be a major PR coup if they offered a decent trade-in price to upgrade from AE10 to Pro but I shan't be holding my breath!!

  • @farmpunk_dan

    Don’t buy an AKAI EWI - they don’t stand behind their products and customer service is terrible. Wish this AE-30 was an option when I bought my EWI 5000.

      That's the same thing the Doctor said when you were born, but you turned out alright!
      I don't tend to enjoy music with my eyes.... Honestly, where would the world be if people said that the first time they saw a trumpet or a saxophone?
      Piano accordions on the other hand... They have a lot to answer for!

    • @Ssspaceform
      @Ssspaceform 3 года назад

      Well, design matters. You don't think so? Look around yourself. Look at instruments, and tell me that they are not designed with aesthetics in mind.
      Also, does replying to a comment with an ad-hominem attack make you feel more macho?

      Isn't playing lead all about expression anyways? What better way to do that than having air and embouchure as simultaneous modulation sources?
