@@joemcshmoe10 If both surfaces are smooth all the way around, you don't need anything. If there are cuts/dents/scratches, then you will have to use it to fill them in. If this is the first time ever opening it and you are careful not to damage surfaces, you shouldn't need anything except the gasket.
I know your a professional cus this the first video I seen WITH RTV seal. It will make the gasket last longer

It depends on the condition of the metal. Mechanics use RTV just to be safe.
