Isn't it amazing that Anatomy Of A Fall got 5 nominations including Best Picture without France backing it up for their campaign just because of Justine Triet's opinion on French politics? Instead France send another movie that didn't make the final cut of the nominations?
Justine Triet, you will always be famous. Beating French politics is already iconic for her, France will always be guilty for not backing her up 🙌

the Joe Hisaishi disrespect is honestly shameful, and the Suzume snub is god awful. Nolan and the Oppenheimer team are saving this ceremony bc so many of the other categories were just Lazy with a capital L.
I’m also disappointed that Joe Hasaishi didn’t get nominated! He has consistently done amazing work in so many Studio Ghibli films for decades, and his score in “The Boy and the Heron” is one of his best works!
i would have preferred the joe hisaishi nom over any others for boy and the heron, honestly. not my favorite miyazaki film but hisaishi never misses.

Even if Hillary Swank wasn’t nominated that year, I doubt Annette would’ve won for “Being Julia”. She’d probably lose to either Imelda Staunton for “Vera Drake” or Kate Winslet in “Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind”, in my opinion. She would’ve definitely had won for “The Kids Are Alright” if it wasn’t for Natalie Portman in “Black Swan”.

Definitely a lot of snubs this year but I'm pleasantly surprised Robot Dreams and Perfect Days made it in. I was almost convinced they'd be out, especially Robot Dreams.

I honestly expected Margot Robbie to get snubbed because every year there's always that one performer that gets nominated everywhere but doesn't make it in (Lady Gaga for House of Gucci, Viola Davis for The Woman King, etc). Honestly, I'm just so happy that Robot Dreams got acknowledged, I'm squealing like a pig over it.

I've yet to see any reasoning for John Williams' later career franchise nominations (star wars sequels and indy). I know theres a threshold of amount of original stuff to get in, but watching the movies it doesn't feel like there is any thing new at all, at least nothing impactful. I'm sure if you listened through the entire soundtrack there might be some new stuff but they are hardly noticeable or great. Its not like the Return of the King, where there are very notable and powerful themes that aren't in the other movies.
Haven't found anyone justifying his nominations either but he seems to be a darling in the academy for all his life. Smart of Williams to say it is going to be his last score.

The Only thing me is that this is the 2nd Year in a Row that NO Animated Films Got Any Additional Nominations, outside of their Own Category, which idk if this discrimination act going into the Branches of the Academy, if del Toro's Pinocchio didn't any additional, Spider-Verse, Boy and the Heron & Elemental didn't get any additional either based on the Shortlist.

Director Greta Gerwig and Producer/title character Margot Robbie created a female-centric 1.5 billion dollar mega hit. Both were nominated at almost every other awards group, and yet the Academy shut them both out.

You seriously think Robbie's performance was Oscar-worthy? It was not even the best of her career by a long shot. The script worked more in Ken's favor in terms of showing off acting range. Robbie only really got to show off her acting chops in the last 10-15 minutes of the film. Gerwig I would've like to see nominated but nobody can say the Academy doesn't like her when she has been nominated for Best Director before and always seems to get some nomination when she releases a film. I just cant quite understand why people are outraged instead of recognizing it was a strong year for female lead movies. How is that a bad thing? And you should already know their box office numbers are irrelevant. If they were then Marvel movies would've been winning tons of awards for the past decade.

Annette Bening and Jodie Foster both deserve to be there. Nyad is unarguably not on the same level as the nominated movies but it’s a great story! Both lead actresses were great in it.

Did these nominations kinda suck? I mean Ferrera but no Gerwig or Margot, no Greta Lee/Celine Song and Nyad as many nominations as Past Lives, no Melton or Sessa, Killers doesn’t get screenplay or actor for Leo, Spiderverse and Boy and the Heron’s scores snubbed for Indiana Jones, and not really any fun surprises except Godzilla for visual effects

Saltburn getting no technical awards just shows the bias of this entire thing. Unless you are part of the inner circle you won't get nominated. Charles Melton obviously deserved a nomination, but didn't have the right connections. Clearly America Ferrirera did because her performance in Barbie was the worst of the main cast. Even the child actor put in a better performance. Ferreira sounded like she was still on the Superstore set.

REMEMBER... the Oscars rarely gets it right. It's a circle-jerk for Hollywood to fawn over each other until a rare film can break through the implicit bias for friends and family that work in the system as exemplified by Nyad and John Williams getting noms. Once again, animation is disrespected by exclusion in all manner of viable categories as animators aren't part of the industry's inner circle. Bradley Cooper needs to stop trying to be an auteur. It's unnatural and uncomfortable.
