I taught myself how to fly hang gliders in '72, same with ultralights in the '80's, then planes since then, all experimental/kit planes, lots of mountain off airport,, and on skis. THIS blew my mind! Mitch has it mastered, it might not be most pilot's cup of tea, but he has the skills. And a electric unicycle.
During my somewhat limited and amateur flying career, I was taught to stay away from power lines....heck...let's just tear-up the manual and fly around on a 'copter made from Meccano! Ballsy! Like it!
The camera angles of GO Pros today etc is just unreal you truly feel like you’re there. Amazing stuff. Credit to all his hard work and the balls to live out his dreams.
Another fantastic video! I love your paragliding vids, but that mosquito just takes the cake!! And I'd love to see the look on those people's faces in their vehicles as you're rolling that thing through the intersection! 🤣
As a fully certified professional pilot, I have a million things to say, but ill just say one of them. Godspeed and good luck brother, you're a fucking nut.
Mitch...that is scary as all hell to me but I know you don't acquire chopper flying skills without being able to poop bird seed. So you know what you are doing. It's great that you can share this with us. Gotta love this new social media. All I have of my dad doing this sort of sport flying in the 50s 60s and 70s is maybe an hour of hours of old 8mm black and white.
I had the privilege of watching on of these fly over me at low altitude in La Luz NM back in the 1980's. My clearest memory of that moment was the pilot had a smile from ear to ear. Very cool indeed.
Really mesmerizing to watch! I gotta say though that having those blades spinning over my head would make me uneasy...I was curious how high it could go if you wanted to? also wondered why you towed it home? why not fly there instead?
I can't even imagine how mind fd the drivers at the intersection were. I bet the police phone call went like, "Yea I like to report some man flying his erector set helicopter out in the open field, and then when he was done he drove it through the intersection with one of those electric skateboards that all the kids have these days. He had something on his knee, crocs and I think a black shirt and shorts." The only thing that would have made this better is if you had worn the helmet on the unicycle ride home.
The superb and beautiful CH-7 Angel Helicopter designed by the brilliant Argentinian designer Augusto Cicarie, and sold in kit form by the Balbero brothers of Eli Sport Helicopters of Italy was a very accomplished amateur built helicopter. A slightly larger CH-7 Kompress helicopter was flown from France to the USA by its owner/builder, with some over water legs of the flight being in excess of 12 hours continuous hand flying! This type is very successful due to the excellence of the type and its excellent history. The only fatal crash that I know of involved a flight in mountains towards the setting sun, which unfortunately obscured an elevated wire strung directly in the flightpath of the helicopter...
Man, it was so satisfying watching this video!.. soo neat the way he flew all over that field, Edit: pushing your helicopter at the end through that boulevard was awesome!
I might not know anything about your craft, but i do know helicopters. It looks like you need to make your cyclic more sensitive with less travel. In flight, no matter how short or far the jump, having your right arm comfortable on your thigh is highly preferable than having to fight the cyclic like that. It not only gives your arm rest, but also increases your control. Just my two cents.

This was one of the best mosquito videos. Full of reality and exciting. If I put more camera in other Angles it would be really cool. Show the collective.
We see a lot of people in these types of devices. And that is also my concern. What happens if the blade does break apart or if the motor fails? Wouldn't this device just drops to the ground? That would be an almost certain fatality. I think at least in a winged device they could possibly glide themselves to the ground as safely as possible. That's why I would never ever get on one of these things.

Also, while I agree on the point of auto-rotation being an option present for fixed wing over rotary wing aircraft the fact is there are far more parts moving at high speed and under stress on a rotary wing than a fixed wing. The equates to far more things to go wrong so it kind of balances it out. It also only works if you are on the safe side of the dead man's curve.
That sounds like an exhilarating experience! Flying low and fast in a Mosquito Air Helicopter must offer such a unique perspective, bringing a whole new level of excitement and adventure. It's incredible how helicopters can maneuver in ways that other aircraft can't, giving pilots and passengers a truly dynamic experience. The Mosquito Air Helicopter, with its compact design, seems perfect for such thrilling flights! Stay safe and enjoy the skies! ✈🚁💨
Don't know how that machine managed to lift your huge nuts off the ground! Great video mate, loved it! Keep safe.

There’s always one, fantasizing about the guys balls.
😂😂😂😂
I've always dreamed of flying one of these ever since I saw the ad in the back of Popular Science 20 yrs ago, nice landing
Outstanding pilot!!! Great footage and incredibly insane flying!!! Awesome job!!
All set for the apocalypse!
This guy drinks for free ANYWHERE! Amazing skill and guts…
Santa: What would you like for Christmas……
Me: a microcopter please
As a fully certified professional pilot, I have a million things to say, but ill just say one of them.
Godspeed and good luck brother, you're a fucking nut.
Nevermind flying it, I would just love to see everyone reaction to you going down the road pushing a helicopter with an euc!
You can digitize the 8mm and put it up on RUclips.
I had the privilege of watching on of these fly over me at low altitude in La Luz NM back in the 1980's. My clearest memory of that moment was the pilot had a smile from ear to ear. Very cool indeed.
OMG! Flashbacks of NOE in the dessert. Sooo much fun. You’re a savage. Love it.
That is awesome. The EUC to get it back home is the cherry on top. Cool video.
Coolest Thing I've seen on youtube in over 6 years. You sir, are a champ. People follow their own dreams in this country. Hell Yeah.
Really mesmerizing to watch! I gotta say though that having those blades spinning over my head would make me uneasy...I was curious how high it could go if you wanted to? also wondered why you towed it home? why not fly there instead?
The fact that you travel that thing on an euc makes this Legendary 🤙🏽
One of the best Videos of home built helicopters i have seen!!!
Probably the only helicopter that was fun to watch while even being taxied on road
Simple Design. Effective. Beautiful. Dangerous. All in one.
I can't even imagine how mind fd the drivers at the intersection were. I bet the police phone call went like, "Yea I like to report some man flying his erector set helicopter out in the open field, and then when he was done he drove it through the intersection with one of those electric skateboards that all the kids have these days. He had something on his knee, crocs and I think a black shirt and shorts."
The only thing that would have made this better is if you had worn the helmet on the unicycle ride home.
Yes, and you would be just the person to make that idiotic call.
@@daveglover4186 Hey buddy, you missed the context of my comment. Good effort though.
lmfaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaoooooooooooooo
The police only shows up if theres a gun involved
Awesome. Been in love with this helicopter for years. The only real ultralight heli imo. But you are def braver than I am!
Glad you enjoyed it!
@@MitchG keep it up man!.. regards 👍
Thats pretty neat! I like how you transport it down the road! What a savage!
*The very first thought that struck my mind was: 'This is geuinely **_IMPOSSIBLE_** to describe to anyone not having tried this!!!' . . .*

Crocs and a helmet is all you need for safety. The scary part is trusting that little engine! I can't wait for the electric versions to come to market. :) Love the video!!
@Peter Kropotkin Large wingspan solar assisted planes are here, just all custom built still.
@Peter Kropotkin Not vanity, it's legit research, but yeah, not widely available as I already said
This is one of the greatest video I’ve ever seen in my life
Even ufos looking down are like "Damn that looks like fun"
Ballistic helmet: check

Love it! 🤠👍
This was one of the best mosquito videos. Full of reality and exciting. If I put more camera in other Angles it would be really cool. Show the collective.
INCREDIBLE INNOVATION CONGRATULATIONS ON YOUR SUCCESS!!!
Be careful and keep monitoring the metal fatigue on that rotor. Sometimes they can break apart , especially if they are homemade.
@@ManifestedSonofTheMostHigh23 There are two kinds of Helicopter. One which has crashed and others, which have yet to crash. They are inherently dangerous devices.
Helicopters can glide un-powered no problem
@@johndanger8717 That didn't save that basketball player.

As a helo mechanic (ARMY ret.), hat off to you sir beating that air into submission.
I know that when I'm flying my homemade helicopter, I love taking off underneath powerlines. Mitch, you sir are a crazy person, BRAVO
You have got a hell of a lot of faith in your machine to fly like that. If that was me, I would probably have hit that water tower. Great video!
You really impressed me, from the start to the finish. Your the: "Simple hi-tech guy with the compact kit."
Wow, quite a serious helicopter flying skills 👍

rust update looks amazing

I retract my previous statement, having now seen another of your videos that shows off the craft better.
Somewhere in Heaven, Igor Sikorsky is smiling.
Well said. Unfortunately a great number of people will not have the slightest idea of who our friend Igor was 😑

this is some mad max level stuff. love it!
I think I’ll wait for the electric quad copter kits to start popping up.
I love it! I bet that little thing is super squirrely. I used to fly R/C Choppers, and without a gyro to assist I could never keep the tail under control. As much fun as it seems, I'll stick to my paramotors and keep my helicopter flying in DCS (UH-1 FTW!).
BTW, I love how you're using a Veteran Sherman as a Tug! That wheel is a beast!
Hahaha yes I love the sherman. The mosquito is actually the most stable helicopter I've flown (without computer assistance). The control response is very gentle. 2 inches of stick deflection with this is a gentle drift but on most other helicopters, 2 inches of stick deflection is a roll
I’ve never flown but the Mosquito has def proven itself over quite a few years now. I’ve heard it’s quite nice to fly
@@MitchG I am sold.. I have to find one of these or build one....LOVE IT!!
RC helicopters don't fly as well without a gyro because they are so light compared to the power they put out.
The GOAT right hear, Got the popular mechanics back of magazine special heli check... taxi gear one wheel check... freaking no fear and legit gear crocks shorts and green storm trooper helmet check lets FLY epic man EPIC!
If you ever feel down just know this guy is somewhere in the world living his best life flying around pieces of metal tubing, a chair and a ceiling fan attached to a motor… 😂
Wish I had the time to play with one. I been wanting one since I was a kid. At 10 years old I was designing one based on a 20hp Briggs. My dad being a pilot laughed at me and asked where you gonna go with that thing. My response was, "don't worry I won't leave the neighborhood!" Looking back that must have been hilarious to him.
Haha that's awesome. I've always wanted one as well. I thought I would get one much later in life but I came across this one and couldn't pass it up. It's been an amazing experience
So if I bought that, how many fueling stops to get back to Colorado?
@@backpages1 all you need is a car hauler trailer.
@@MitchG My comment was intended to be humorous, I could not possibly afford your helicopter, as badly as I would love to own it. I do have a question though, where is the tail rotor? Hey man, hope you read my comment. Really appreciate your enthusiasm and giving us a great video. But seriously man be safe… after seeing what happened to that guy in India building his own helicopter… I just can’t possibly see how safe this is..
the good thing is it's no concern of yours!

The guy in India wasn't wearing a seatbelt and it was a homemade helicopter of his own design. Had he been wearing a seatbelt he would have survived. This guy has a mosquito and it's an actual kit that you can buy and assemble that's already been tested and they're pretty popular. He also has a seat belt and helmet on. But no it's not 100% safe but nothing is.
@Techrecycle4u did I say that?
Nice to see he's wearing a helmet. Safety fist, kids!
