The very first O&K RH400, Syncrude fleet number 11-35, started work in August 1997, it weighed 830 metric tonnes and carried a 42.5cu.m bucket. It was initially powered by a pair of Cummins K2000E engines producing 3350hp, but these were soon upgraded when the QSK60 V16 engines were released the following year. Subsequent models increased in weight and power and today the Caterpillar version, called the 6090FS, weighs in at around 1000 metric tonnes. This Caterpillar version still uses the same twin Cummins QSK60 quad turbo 60 litre V16 engines, but by now they have been upgraded to 4500hp with a 52cu.m bucket. Both Terex and Cat made significant changes and upgrades to the original O&K design resulting in increased performance and reliability. Between 1997 and 2021, only 22 of these machines, both RH400 and 6090FS, had been built, an average of less than one per year with the overwhelming majority going to the Canadian oilsands and also to Australia. Citic Pacific's magnetite mine in Western Australia has four of these working, two started in 2008, numbers 9 & 10 off the production line, and they were later joined by number 14 & number 15. The picture of the RH400 painted in Bucyrus colours at 4:18 is fake, RH400 number 12 was built during their short ownership but by the time it was completed Cat had taken over, the shovel was painted all white with Cat branding and was sold to a coal mine run by Xstrata (now Glencore) in Australia. The very first RH400/6090FS produced in Cat yellow was number 13, it was shipped to a mine in Mozambique in 2012 (source : Earthmovers Magazine)
I was always fascinated - amazed by these massive machines. It amazes me with the amount of power they have and how the hydraulic hoses can hold so much pressure without blowing. The process as a whole is amazing
There’s no doubt that the A I narrator’s voice is really aggravating in some cases, this is a perfect example!!! I was able to get through this presentation by watching the machines and paying very little attention to the narrator/robot lol 😂. At least they started calling them shovels as opposed to excavators in the beginning.
Them there are not excavators them there are shovels not a robotic arm an excavator works just like a human are not backwards but cool in fact you can put a thumb on an excavator and work it the same as a hand can't put a thumb on a shovel
@@mikehd3904 correct but it sure is hard to make a cut with the shovel man or dig a ditch for pipeline. Plus the multiple attachments you can get with a quick tach on the excavator
Technically all shovels are types of excavators. For larger hydraulic mining shovels like this they often come in both face shovel or backhoe configurations.

You looked up 'Worlds biggest digger' and clicked on that PowerTrack article, didn't you. Unfortunately both you and they are wrong. According to them there's only 6 diggers over 100 tons lol

Wow
Excavator yang besar 👍
I usually dont watch videos like this with the artificial voice but this was pretty interesting
I used to occasionally run our 335 Cat on our farm, and thought it was huge.
Thanks for posting.

Not an excavator, it’s a shovel.
Technically all shovels are excavators
@@rolandturner657 it's a shovel not an excavator
If you want to get picky, every machine that excavates dirt is technically an excavator.
@@Deere2154D You might want to tell CAT, Hitachi, Komatsu & Liebherr that- because that's how they refer to these machines!
@@rolandturner657 correct. They refer to them as front shovels hence the FS

And I complain about having to fill the tank in my F-350. Sheesh! Can't imagine what it cost to run one of these things for a day.
Overhauled the 6090 as well as the original 400's, one still operating at horizon.

Shovel. Front bucket shovel.
I still can’t figure out how the Tri Power works🤔. 🤓

Still Germany

Most big mining diggers have cummins engines Hitachi,Leibherr, komatsu runs its on engine though which is surprising...
