    From Wikipedia:
Silver Spring is a census-designated place (CDP) in southeastern Montgomery County, Maryland, United States, near Washington, D.C. Although officially unincorporated, in practice it is an edge city which had a population of 81,015 residents as of the 2020 census. This makes it the fourth most populous place in Maryland, after Baltimore, Columbia, and Germantown, and the second most populous in Montgomery County after Germantown.
The downtown, located next to the northern tip of Washington, D.C., is the oldest and most urbanized part of the community. Since beginning a significant renaissance in 2004, many new mixed-use developments combining retail, residential, and office space have been built. Downtown is in turn surrounded by several inner suburban residential neighborhoods located inside the Capital Beltway.
Silver Spring takes its name from a mica-flecked spring discovered there in 1840 by Francis Preston Blair, who subsequently bought much of the surrounding land. Acorn Park, south of downtown, is believed to be the site of the original spring.

Thank you very much for making and posting this video. I'm originally from Silver Spring, and have repeatedly rescheduled a trip back "home" due to COVID. Watching your video was a nice substitute, and I even got to see where I lived as a newborn baby! Thanks again!

I worked in northern Silver Spring (Montgomery Industrial Park) but because I took Metro, my commute ended downtown - which is where the subway station is. The iconic corner of downtown Silver Spring is rather expected - Georgia Avenue and Colesville Road (MD 97 begins here and begins its trek to Wheaton and points north, while US 29 leaves Georgia Avenue and heads toward its finish at MD 99 north of Ellicott City). Silver Spring is (like Bethesda) surprisingly easy to walk - and it starts with the aforementioned Colesville and Georgia and the Battle of the Coffeehouses - Mayorga Organics and Starbucks - with Einstein Brothers Bagels sandwiched in between - like a bagel with cream cheese! (Despite the bad joke, I DO love their bagels, and would often grab a dozen to take to work.) At the foot of Colesville Road is the Silver Spring Giant; yes - that is Blair Road - sneaking from Far Northwest to meet Colesville Road that the Giant Food and Pharmacy is on; this is the second Giant that does this - the other is also in Montgomery County - specifically the Giant at Wisconsin and Western Avenue on the Maryland side of Friendship Heights.)

Be careful, downtown is the one area that has the most gun violence in all of silver spring.
