One person can make a difference and start a new way of thinking, especially in medicine. Dr. Goobie in my opinion has made that difference and is helping millions.❤
Agreed! Equally inspiring is not only his video candidly sharing his experience but also the support and favorable discussion it has sparked. Hopefully one step toward creating a healthier culture in medicine
As a society, we need to move away from sickcare and towards true healthcare because people are corrupted by money and the medical profession is a business and people get into business to make money. People who own franchises such as fast food knows their food is harmful but turn a blind eye because it makes them rich; this is the case for most businesses to a grater or lesser degree.
I found Dr. Goobie to be sincere and his story inspiring. Having said that, it`s also a bit concerning. You mentioned in your video that we have a shortage of physicians already. My fear is, Dr. Goobie`s video may compel other talented surgeons to follow a similar course of action as Dr. Goobie which could create an even greater shortage of talent. However, one of the underlying themes of Dr. Goobie`s viral video is that we have the power -- in many cases -- to heal ourselves. That is a very powerful message that needs *more* support!
Love these reflections! Agreed that if his video were to inspire a mass exodus of doctors, that would be an unfortunate result. But hopefully instead it can inspire change. We need physicians who recognize the limitations of their practice, yet are motivated to push for meaningful changes that enhance both their well-being and their ability to serve patients. And for now, for every doctor contemplating leaving medicine, I see many hopeful premeds ready to rise to the challenge if given the opportunity, inspired by that possibility of making a difference. We need healers in medicine!

That’s not the reason we have shortages, how about expensive rent, no support, hard to get in!!!
