Love can lights. My husband is an electrician so, I've been keeping him busy but, I really like yiurs..
Love that! Thank you for watching. Check out hundreds more of our videos at www.aroundthehome.org
Hey, thanks for the video. How did you fix the issue with the dimmer? Mines go through a cycle where each light goes to night glow until they all reset and then it does it again
I'm not totally sure what you are describing. But, I will first ask, which dimmer do you have. Specifically?
I am having the same problem with my lights getting out of sync.
Thank you for reviewing this. I just bought this but now im wondering if this safe to use up in the ceiling of a covered (exterior) entry?
Well, I can't speak for your specific home or the area you live in. But if it is a fully finished, roofed area where the lights would not get wet then it should be ok.
Ok odd question say I turn them off at night then in the morning I want to turn them on, do I need to cycle through the night light mode? or does it have a timer of sort that way it will just go to the normal light function. It would seem kind of cumbersome to always have to cycle through the night light feature if you don't want to use it.
@Boardtheeast that is a good question. I address that in another video about these. But long story short, you have a 5 second window to hit the switch a second time to go to nightlight mode. If you miss that then it just stays, or goes back to main can light mode. Here is that video ruclips.net/video/zQEfDV_SOxM/видео.html
I want to upgrade my whole house with these
That would be awesome.
Are bulbs built in and are they led or can I put led in them? Thanks
Bulbs are built in fixtures like this. They are soldered to the boards, so there is no changing them out. Also because of this they project the light better. They are designed to last like 10 years. Thank you for watching. Check out hundreds more of our videos at www.aroundthehome.org
If you add a smart switch. Could it be configured to activate the halo effect ?
Maybe someone else has experience with these lights and smart switches. I do not. I guess it could work if you turned it on, off, and back on within 5 seconds.
I bought a single one to test from Home Depot, it stopped working after an hour, is this common? Do they work with any recessed light cans, or specific ones?
I have mine installed in standard can fixtures. I have used mine for probably 2 years now with zero problems. Sounds like you might have just got a bad one.
Is there a way to make it be either the halo or the light without flipping the switch on and off
Do you mean like saying a command like "Alakazam" ? Actually that sounds cool, but no. Both these units, and the other ones that I compare in another video that is linked in this video only switch from halo to normal light with the wall switch. Thank you for watching. @@AroundTheHome1 what is you have a smart switch though? Voice command the smart switch should be able to activate it? Correct me if im wrong, thanks
Can u turn on night light ring and recessed at same time?
No, no you can not. It's one or the other.
the halo rings are just :0
Yes, yes they are. Thank you for watching. Check out hundreds more of our videos at www.aroundthehome.org
Will they work on a 3 way switch?
Absolutely will. I have mine on a three way. Thank you for watching. Check out hundreds more of our videos at www.aroundthehome.org
What wattage is the nightglow lighting?
I really don't know. They don't seem to list that. The Utilitech brand lists the main can at 10.5 watts. If you need to know that level of specifics, I would suggest that you email the manufacturer of the one that you prefer to get specific details.
Can you do a video on syncing these?
What is your problem exactly? Let me know and I can probably help you out real easy like.
Ok, wait I think I know what you are talking about. I thought that I went over that in this video, but all I say is that it can happen and it isn't a big deal. I had to go back and watch the video to see. Ok, so if they get out of sync - meaning some are on the main can light and some are on the halo ring - then getting them back is super easy. When you turn them originally on, you have a 5 second window to turn them off and on again to go to the Halo ring. And I mean an actual 5 second window, I used a stop watch to test it. So, if they are out of sync then just turn them off and wait more then 5 full seconds before you turn them on again and they will all turn back on with the main can light. Now, that is how the Utilitech brand one works, but I think that the Commercial Electric brand is the same. I hope that answers your question. And thank you for mentioning this. I have added a video about them getting out of sync to my list. 👍 So glad to help! Thank you for watching. Check out hundreds more of our videos at www.aroundthehome.org
Here is that video you wanted. ruclips.net/video/zQEfDV_SOxM/видео.html
Can you dim the regular lights?
Yes, yes you can. Just make sure you have a dimmer that is LED compatible. This is my new favorite. ruclips.net/video/rrrmk44xilE/видео.html
@@AroundTheHome1 Thank you, definitely going to purchase the dimmer in your new video💯
@@AroundTheHome1 Have you put it on a 3-way switch before.
@Roy Flacko it was good luck to find your comment. Just FYI, comments on top of other comments are not only hard to find, but I don't always get a notification for them. Starting a new comment thread will just about guarantee that I will see it. Doesn't matter if the video is old or new. Anyways, back to your question. Yes, in fact they are on a 3 way in my own house. Did you have anymore questions about them?
how do you get them back in sync with eachother?
You know, I have sometimes thought that myself. The ones that I used in this video, are in my basement so I checked it out for you. First I tried to get them out of sync by flipping the switch on and off really quick. After many attempts I could not get them out of sync. Though, I know that it can be done with some of these because I did get them out of sync with the use of a dimmer at a customers house. I just messaged this homeowner and asked if he does have troubles getting them out of sync and then back in sync. He said that they do every once in a while and he just plays with the switch a few times to get them back into sync. I noticed on mine if you turn them on to the regular can light and turn them off. If you wait a while to turn them back on they do not switch to the Halo, but back on as the regular can. So I timed it. If you wait more then 5 seconds to turn them back on they do not switch to halo. So I think that should also work if they get out of sync. Just turn them off and wait a bit and when you turn them back on they should all be regular can.
@@AroundTheHome1 That worked! we have some in our kitchen with (stupidly) dimmable switches-I think next time we wont need the dimmable switches with these lights. Every once in a while when someone accidentally moves the dimmable switch down when they turn off the nightlights. This morning I turned them on and they were all out of sync. Usually we just sit there flipping them on and off over and over again. This morning I turned them off completely, waited a few minutes, and then turned them back on. All in sync again! This was helpful thank you!
Glad it helped! Thank you! 😊 And thank you for watching. Check out hundreds more of our videos at www.aroundthehome.org
@@devynoliver dimmer switches have an adjustment on them. You can adjust it so that it won't go so dim it turns the light off. It sort of amazes me how many people don't know about this. Just pull your switch cover off sometimes you don't even need to pull the switch out. But there is a little adjuster to adjust the minimum level that they will go to so it will work with whatever lights your running with it.
👉I got three of these a few weeks ago and they're great!!! I got mine at Home Depot just a few cents under $20 EA. Ya just put it in, turn them on, flip the switch within 30 seconds and they will dim. PERFECT.👍
They are awesome, aren't they! I am really loving all the creative LED designs that are coming out. Thank you for watching. Check out hundreds more of our videos at www.aroundthehome.org

Let me know when these from Home Depot come out in color.
Amber would be nice. Although they are kind of a very light Amber they're not exactly White.
Thank you!
Any way to make them turn on when it's dark?
I just installed 6 on a Leviton smart dimmer switch. They turned off on their own & back on with the halo lights 2X now. Once each night. Has this happened to anyone else or would you know why this happens?
I have noticied that too - no idea why
Had the same issue with the leviton sure slide dimmer and commercial electric recessed lights. Did you solve it? Looks like maybe the dimmer is set too bright for the night lights or something like that
I just bought two of these..but t hought i could only install two in a path of 6 other lights and only the night light ones would work...its all or nothing though....I though when they were turn off it automatically went to nightlight mode.
Yep, they don't do anything when off.
The spring design on the HD ones is garbage. Had to return them.
