I can’t believe I haven’t shot wild bunch yet! Thanks for this video Jed, I think you explained it all very well! I can’t wait till I have some time to get out and shoot a wild bunch match, or side match!
Hi Jed, I'm new to Cowboy Shooting and am loving your videos. Learning a lot. I'm gearing up and ready to join SASS and get my "alias". Retired and have the time and the money for this now. A dear old friend of mine passed away awhile back and I have first dibs on his collection of Cowboy Guns. I hope one day to cross paths with you at one of these events, until then please keep doing what your doing. It is greatly appreciated!
@@JEDiTV Hi Jed, Thanks for the reply! I just got my SASS membership and alias. It's "Ben Carson". I am so excited. I'm attending a local Cowboy event next Sunday to further my education. I'm watching all your videos, you do a really nice job and are one hell of a shooter. I can't wait to meet you in person. Happy trails brother!
I'm new to SASS and really want to shoot "Wild Bunch". Looks like fun with fun people. Just to throw it out there, how about a Dirty Harry side event. Wayfarer shades, suit, and large magnum revolver. Could be fun. Great site and I'll see ya'll on the range.
Gunfighter 1911's for the win!! Great video. I haven't caught a WB match yet and wondered how they typically went. Looks fun! I'd love to give this a go but I've gotta recover from regular CAS start up funding...
Yeah, it’s like starting in a whole new sport with all the gear you have to buy. Especially if your CAS Rifle and Shotgun don’t fit into the rules of Wild Bunch.
Hey Jed, my alias is Bone T. Hunter and I have been looking in to wild bunch shooting and this video was very helpful. your 1911 is one of the coolest I've seen mine is one of the originals that yours is based off of my great grand father shipped his home piece by piece during the war and now it's one of the best shooting pistols I've shot
Now I have a "reason" for a new COLT 1911 original style. I have a 1943 CMP 1911 but it is the 1911A1 by Remington. I WANT a COLT and availability and price are coming into reality. It will take me a while time to get through your many years of videos but, I will!
Wild Bunch is something I would love to get into, but I shoot .38 for CAS, and a double shotgun, so I will have to acquire some hardware prior to really getting into it. My local club allows shooters to use a rifle in any CAS caliber for monthly matched and aluminum framed pistols (for those of us who do not have a steel framed one,) so the price to play isn't too bad. Thanks for the look at Wild Bunch shooting!
You’re welcome! And, yes, most local clubs that play around with some form of “Wild Bunch” will allow different rifles and calibers. I even shoot at one that will let you use double action revolvers of the era (I’ll post me using my Nagants one of these days... y’all will enjoy that!). For this episode though, I wanted to focus specifically on the official rules for the category. I almost considered calling this: “Wild Bunch Action Shooting 101”. 😉- Jed
The writers of the WBAS shooters handbook wanted to distinguish the game somewhat from cowboy action by requiring a power factor of 150 and a "big bore" rifle. Target size and distances tend to be more challenging than what is popular in CAS.
great episode Very detailed In what it takes to participate in wild Bunch shooting. First thing I have to say. Great job. Second thing I’d have to say. Is I don’t own any of the guns that is necessary. For sass Wild Bunch shooting. I’m so happy with my cowboy action shooting. With my 186645 caliber yellow boy. My pair of evil Roy 45 caliber peacemakers. And my double barrel external ha mmer coach gun. But it looks like so much fun I just might have to buy some new guns. So I can come out and shoot wild Bunch.
Great Episode Jed😀😊 I Would Use My Colt 1911 and Model 12 Winchester along With an Original 1892 Winchester Lever Action 😀👍🏼 Just Wondering Jed Why They Don’t Shoot From The Round Chambered and Hammer Back Safety on Position With The 1911 in The Holster as The 1911 Was Made to Be Carried is it Just The Safety Rules in The Match 😎 I Would Really Be At Home Shooting Wild Bunch 💨🔫😀
Jedi cool 😎 video, it looked like a fun group and a fun stage. Question about Wild Bunch. Is there a 1911 or 2 that is a dominant with top shooters as the New Vaqueros are in Cowboy Action Shooting?
🤔 I don’t know that any one particular 1911 is dominant… maybe the Ruger (I know when I was in Southern Oregon 98% of that group in Ashland used the Ruger). Rock Island is popular too. Hope that helps. -Jed
I would have to shoot modern with my Ruger SR1911, Model 12 pump and 45 LC Marlin rifle. Hey, congrats on your clean shoot up hear at this years Westmatch :-))
@@JEDiTV That's great, I've shot that match twice and I'm a member of RUCAS and Renton. It will be great to see that because I know all the bays they shoot in. Will look for the video :-)))
I love my 1911 (American Arms Tactical Thunderbolt) single stack 8-1. Wooden grips Black. I’d like to join this competition. I am a member of the SASS. Just haven’t competed. I’m dying too. Live in Central Florida maybe there is a Posse I can join here. I Also have a Winchester pump 12 Gauge shotgun. LE Issued. I do need a lever action maybe a .308. Will be buying that soon. Anyway great video. I subscribed. Glad I found your channel. Stay safe. Happy shooting.
Thanks for the comment! Glad you’re enjoying the show. Get out to a local club and check it out. Remember in order to compete that shotgun has to be a Winchester Model 1897 or Model 12. And, your rifle would have to be chambered in a “pistol caliber” of .40 or larger (45 Colt, 44/40 or 38/40 would work). Hope that info helps! - Jed 🤠
Allen Sooter the rules require a five inch 1911. Some local clubs are flexible and may allow, say, a Commander. A friend’s club allows any centerfire 1911 of any length.

100 more grains of lead will do that. 😉 And I use a pretty stout 45acp load.
