First public Tram trip to Blackpool North Station (6.55am Sunday 16th June 2024)

One of the main reasons I wanted to become a Councillor back in 2011 was to make sure the Talbot Tram line to the station was built.
After many years hard work (I will do a seperate video about that) today we finally got to ride the Tram on it's debut.
It was fitting it was Fathers day as my Dad was equally in favour and even wrote in support of the scheme to the Planning Inspector. He was so proud of his letter that he got confirming the scheme would go ahead. Sadly we lost Dad in 2020 so today Mum and myself rode the Tram and remembered a great man on a great occasion for Blackpool.
Next question is where is our next extension going to go, I'll include that in to a future video as well :)

Excellent video Paul! The last tram up Talbot Road was, actually almost 88 years ago on 19th October 1936.
I have covered the past few weeks on various videos on RUclips Podbaba Transport and you actually passed me on your journey up Talbot Road in Talbot Square.
Brilliant to see the whole journey covered as I couldn't be in Talbot Square and ride the tram.
Good to see a director of Blackpool Transport out and about for the first run.

aw thanks, I saw you and thank you for all your excellent coverage of this historical occasion, not just the Sunday but all the days building up to it. I've really enjoyed your videos. I meant to say after 12 years of being a Director my term ended in May 2023. I won't lie, I really do miss it, but I'm still involved with Tramtown but I did enjoy it. My role now is to push for more Tram extensions and better transport integration on the Fylde :)

Heard rumours Tramtown may be closing permanently as proposed renovations are too costly. Any truth in this?

Hi vonsausage, no we aren't closing permanently. The building is definitely going to be expensive to renovate but it always was going to be. Whilst we can't go in to the Tramshed, we are working really hard behind the scenes to get our funding bids out and deliver the Tramtown vision. I'm still very much involved and will deliver Tramtown one day :) By the way great username :)
