  • I replaced the headlights on my 1999 Toyota Tacoma that were in bad shape. I had already tried cleaning them with a 3M kit to remove the discoloration and haze with some success but I was not satisfied so I bought new ones for $139. In the video I say there are 5 clips holding the grill when there are actually 7.

      Glad I could help. Just make sure you buy OEM headlights. The aftermarket I bought look good but the light output is horrible. No longer own that truck and now own a 2011. Bought OEM headlights for it an they are great.

    Gerald, You're the first RUclipsr who completed the procedure without breaking one of the plastic clips. I am preparing to replace the headlights on my 18 year old Tacoma and I have to trust that the brittle plastic pieces won't break when I pry them out. Unbelievable.

      I was lucky but I did go very easy on them and took my time getting them out. Good luck with yours.

    Thanks, Gerald. Gonna do this for my '00 Tacoma. I can barely see at night with those original headlights I have in there right now! Can't wait to get the new ones in.

    Just bought a 98 Tacoma a few months ago and I've had the marker lights flopping around from the top bolt the whole time. Good to know I'm not missing a bolt, it's just not in the bottom clip. Thanks for the video, sir!

    This video saved me hours of frustration. I have a 2001 4runner and the driver side headlight was cracked. I couldn't figure out how to take the assembly out, but this video walked me right through it. THANKS!!!

    On my truck once I installed them they were almost in perfect alignment. Not perfect but close enough. You may have different results and if they are out of alignment then of course you will have to align them.

    @gilgia On the clips like yours you take a small screwdriver and push on the clip on one side and pull slightly, then push on the opposite side and it should then come apart. Like you said these are very easy to break especially on an older truck. I was lucky in that nothing broke for me.

    Yeah are the same way....there's no specific beam. Just kind of a spray of splotchy light. But much better than what I had no doubt. Thanks again.

    I would advise you to visit your local salvage yard to get any replacement parts you need other than the actual light assembly.

    The new lights look great but I am not 100% satisfied with their performance. There are some shadows in the light pattern.

      Gerald Clay not ordered any yet cause I heard there was a “process.” But you’ve helped me figure it can be done👍🏼👍🏼. Think better check n see 1st if grill clips avail since mine’s a ‘97 and live in HI where plastic break down is quick.

    i have a 2000 tacoma what if the corner lights on the bottom which you slide in/out to install are cracked open so it does not lock in and it can wobble around? and also on the other side where you screw in the corner light is busted. What is the replacement piece called so the lights can be installed properly.

    I would really like to see a complete swap out kit to glass headlamps , I have never liked the lens style or the plastic material its made from.

    How well did those new lights work? I did new aftermarket lights for my Tundra and they suck.

    • @kyclay58

      I had the very same experience. These aftermarket light have horrible patterns and as you say, suck. I would advise anyone the pay the extra money and get OEM headlights.

      @@kyclay58 Thanks for the reply. Yeah, i agree. The lens shape or something is not nearly as good as oem. I have had people say to replace the bulb, but i don't think that the bulb is the problem.

    • @chrisc5028

      @@kyclay58 oem headlights or just the bulbs

    • @kyclay58
      @kyclay58  2 года назад

      @@chrisc5028 The headlights not the bulbs. OEM headlights are headlights built by the company that built the one's installed by the manufacture. OEM stands for Original Equipment Manufacture.

    What website did you get those headlights from, I'm thinking on getting some for my 1998 tacoma too?

  • @kyclay58
    @kyclay58  12 лет назад

    Although these headlights look great I cannot recommend them. The light output is spotty at best. What I mean by spotty is that there are shadows within the light output. I purchased these at autoanything

  • @kyclay58
