I think you can argue four or five players made a bad decision in a row in the build up. To have half the team arguably at fault for a goal within 90 seconds is unforgivable.

I'm not digging Emery out but i felt the team selection cost us. There's no doubt in my mind that Mings should have started this game in a back 5 which would have given us more stability. Newcastle caused us problems all game down both flanks particularly our right side where Matty Cash was getting overrun every time they came forward.

Believe me Dubravka never reacts like that if it’s innocuous yes he will check on his defenders if they are injured and normally a tap on the head and back to his goal but that reaction he thought he had seen more intent. I think it’s one of those where if it’s against you you’d be annoyed but if it happens to you then you’d be screaming for a red card. I honestly thought in the ground and watching it back I thought he knew what he was doing and there was enough time to plant his foot anywhere other than schars back. Had he just fell on him the ball would out of play for a throw in and then play on from there.

@ricclark8162 hope you had a great Christmas too fella I was at the game yesterday I’m a season ticket holder in the Gallowgate end of St. James’ Park and the way dubravka ran up told me he saw something and it’s obvious by his reaction he thought that Duran left one on him. Believe me Dubravka never reacts like that if it’s innocuous yes he will check on his defenders if they are injured and normally a tap on the head and back to his goal but that reaction he thought he had seen more intent. I think it’s one of those where if it’s against you you’d be annoyed but if it happens to you then you’d be screaming for a red card. I honestly thought in the ground and watching it back I thought he knew what he was doing and there was enough time to plant his foot anywhere other than schars back. Had he just fell on him the ball would out of play for a throw in and then play on from there.
@@AllanM2e0 yes fair enough , but have a look at what they showed on match of the day twisting his left ankle and off balance makes it a lot less clear what the intention was , my interpretation was he may have started to swing his leg around to hurt schar ( but thats a flip of a coin judgment) but then it was very clear by the time it hit he was taking every care not to hurt him , yep first to call for a red card for stamping on an opponent and last to for trying not to hurt someone, when i played as a shit level i played like robbie savage constantly tackling and challenging but as a pacifist always going for the ball and pulling out of anything when it felt like i could hurt someone yesterday it as i read it it was like duran had done what i would do and landed with as little impact as he could possibly manage on schar , on the other hand he may have intended to hurt him and only slowed it down to avoid a red card , but who fortunately no one was injured badly hurt and anyway who cares its only football :) good luck for the new year :)
Guys, don’t let these random fans try to convince you that was a red, it was never a red card and the ref has bottled it based on the Newcastle reaction. What was even worse was the commentary team calling it a double stamp and saying he was acting wild ? Wtf were they watching ? Utter clown show from them all
